How to Perform a Proper Reverse Phone Lookup

By Harry Constantine

There are many occasions where we need to know who's behind a certain number. For example, when you keep getting unwanted calls, or perhaps when your partner keeps taking calls outside of the room with their voice down...

...whatever the reason for wanting to know who is behind a certain cell phone number, the truth is that caller ID will not cut it for this situation.

You're going to need a way to get the actual IDENTITY of that guy (name, address etc) so you can make your case in confidence.

How do you get this information?

One of the easiest ways to do this is by running a reverse cell phone lookup. Basically, a reverse cell phone lookup is an easy way for you to track down info about the owner of a particular number.

If you suspect your spouse is cheating with the caller, or if you think your child is sneaking around with someone behind your back, or maybe if you're being harassed by a stranger at night, then a reverse cell phone lookup can be a huge help in finding out what you want to know.

There is an increasing amount of web sites that offer such services for free but there's a problem - the free ones only have landlines.

That may be ok in some cases, but the chances are that your mystery caller isn't stupid enough to call from a landline...after all, ANYBODY can find out the details/ID behind a landline because it is wide open, readily available information!

That's why you need a specialized service...

Because cell phone numbers are considered and treated more privately, and therefore they are not collected in a central database.

Putting such a database together requires extensive time and money and that's why such services charge a fee to use them. If they don't, then tread carefully as they are probably not legitimate (after all, it costs a lot of money to run and build such a database!).

Some websites also charge recurring fees, so look out too - because you can be able to find one that doesn't, and better still, gives you full access for a onetime fee.

Always make sure there is a guarantee present too, just in case you are not happy with the service (should be at least 30-60 days in most cases).

How to Learn the Slowest Martial Art in Existence!

By Al Case

Okay, here's something that will really ring your bell--you are learning the martial arts using the slowest method of education in existence in the world. This is absolutely true. And it is propagated through the mysticism and awe of attaining something that, should you use a method of learning a bit more modern in scope and design, would speed your progress up by a factor of ten.

The martial arts utilize a teaching method that has worked for the history of the world, for monkeys. This is the method of monkey see monkey do. Using the monkey see monkey do method, you are trained to commit to memory random strings of data.

That's correct, random strings of data. As a matter of fact, to be sure, it is random strings strings of random data, and everything is held together through mystical concept. Not logical concept that makes sense, but mystical concept that makes you go, Oooo!

That system of kung fu, the one based on an animal--I have never heard of an animal being logical. Oh, you fight like an animal, in concept. What you're saying is that the movements that look like an animal have been gathered together so you could copycat them.

Copycatting is not a good method of learning, and it is not logical. Copycatting is doing what you have been told to do...or, in the martial arts world, what you have been sold. Lots of money in selling these kinds of methods, because you can just keep rearranging the strings of data and fool people into thinking they are getting something scientific.

Now, you might think that I don't think highly of the martial arts because of what I have said here. The opposite, however, is true, I am so enraptured by the martial arts it is unbelievable. I don't, however, follow antiquated methods of learning.

What I do is take the mystery out of the martial arts, use logic to align the martial arts, and learn ten times faster than the next guy. This method, which is unique and different from any method you have ever seen, is called Matrixing. Matrixing is an actual scientific method for learning--it is not the latest fake science jargon (cyberneuraspses, cranialbiology, neural brain stem cells, and that sort of made up so on) that internet marketers use to sell their gimmicks.

The question I often encounter is how does it work? Consider: if you had 4, 5, 7, 8 and a shaved goose, you wouldn't know how to count. If you had 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and so on...you would know how to count.

What I do is line up the martial concepts in a counting manner, so there are no missing numbers, no out of sequence numbers, and no ridiculous concepts thrown in. When people learn in this fashion it is possible to learn, as I said, as much as ten times faster. Of course it depends on the person doing the learning, and whether they have a basic education, and so on.

Having said the above, it was not easy to develop Matrixing. In fact, it took me a trio of decades, as there was no precedent for what I was doing. The work is done, however, and martial artists the world over can now escape from...the slowest method of learning in existence.

Choreographed Moves in Wrestling

By Rhys Jones

Wrestling throws are tricky, since if you are not paying close attention, you could believe that the moves are real. At the moment, I am still a little reluctant to fill you in on the moves, since I am not a wrestling fan, however my son is, and he is going to give us the inside information on wrestling moves to help you see wrestling for what it is, phoney.

One of the older moves is the banana splits. However, today, the move is known as the 'leg splits'. During this move, one starts wrestling with both hands on the legs of the other wrestler and splits the legs apart as far as the legs will go. This move will force the wrestler to put his/her own shoulders to the mat. If the wrestling move were for real and the wrestler fails to submit, his/her legs would split some muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc.

The 'Cobra Clutch' is yet another of the holds that would in reality cause real agony. The cobra move is universally recognizable as the cross chokes or arm locks. The challenging wrestler will come from the back of the other fighter and using a single arm in the "Nelson Hold". The opponent will then use an arm to pull the wrestler's arm trying to prevent him from pulling across the throat and choking him as a result. The back clutch, or bombard is a similar move, but the challenging wrestler is on his back under his opponent extending his arms upward from behind.

The 'Rock Bottom' moves entail the adversary drawing his opponents arm over his shoulder. The wrestler then places the opponents arm over his/her shoulder and lifts and dives forward onto the mat. During this attack, the challenger is hitting the mat head first, which if actually executed, would break some bones, or else cause some serious pain.

The 'Choke Slam' is the move when the attacking wrestler grips the opponent's arm and lifts his arm close by his opponent's side, over his shoulder. Then he lifts the opponent and slams him down onto the mat.

The 'Big Boot' is a running attack. The wrestler kicks up his boot, connecting with the head of his opponent. So, a kick in the face with a boot in other words! This would knock a person on his/her rear any time, causing the kicked person to feel severe giddiness for a while.

What makes wrestling so exciting is the phoney dialogue, the costumes, the characters and the throws. If you think of the Superman movies, and how he dresses, you will notice that without his outfit he wouldn't have any character appeal as Superman. Likewise, the wrestlers wear outfits that make them seem like they are super heroes of the ring, punishing the baddies. Each wrestler has his/her role in the ring. It is usually quite peaceful, but made to look violent!

Wrestling has rules, as well as restrictions, even though the moves are all fake. Wrestlers must respect the ropes of the ring, as well as the colour codes in the ring. There are also methods of wrestling, which include the folk style, freestyle and Greco Romanian styles.

Each of the styles has its own set of rules, although the freestyle and folk style are somewhat similar. Usually, the styles are enacted so well that you wouldn't know which style the wrestlers are using.

As with a script, most of the moves are composed and rehearsed, which means that a director is off camera using his/her hands to direct the wrestlers in the rings. For the most part, wrestling is nothing more than an act with a few exemptions like when the KAYFABE brakes down, when a real fight might break out. The KAYFABE is wrestling's means of verbal communication.

Dark Alleys, Karate, and Gloopy Aliens!

By Al Case

Good Morning United States, and world, and, uh, guess I'll throw in the universe, too. You never can tell, some gloopy alien with five eyes might be keeping track of those strange critters on earth. It might even be reading this article right now making sure we're not being contentious and guilty of a borning revolution to the alien galactic empire.

Hello, Gloopy Alien. I wonder if he knows what this here finger of mine is for? Hah.

Speaking of weird and Gloopy Aliens, the founder of modern Karate, Gichin Funakoshi, was about 80 years old, and was out for his nightly walk. The night was ominous, Japan was in an unsettled state, and he saw a mugger waiting on a street corner. Gichin knew, deep in his heart, that that mugger was going to try to mug him.

Hey, you think a mugger's going to risk picking on somebody who is big? Nope, muggers want to get on with their work with the least amount of personal risk, you know? Smart guys, these muggers are.

To continue with the tale, Gichin keeps walking, and he makes sure he looks feeble and doddering, and as he passes the mugger and the mugger leaps at him, he whirls and grabs the mugger with a grip of steel. Now, you might be wondering just how he gripped the mugger. A nerve center that immobilizes the body totally--a death grip on the carotid artery?

Well, uh, no. He grabbed him by the, um, chestnuts. The cajones, you know..the apples.

He grabbed him by the children he might sire some day, by the future, by his only source of fun on those long, lonely nights that frustrate a mugger when he is all by himself and can't find anybody who even remotely likes him. Now the founder of modern Karate has a mugger by the embarrassment, and what is he going to do next? Does he flick a set of knuckles to the throat and crunch the Adam's apple...cause it to swell up and stop the mugger from breathing?

Does he execute a spear thrust with one hand to the chest and pluck the mugger's heart out and take a big bite while the horrified mugger watches in horror? Or does he just start to squeeze. Squeeze slowly, and watch the blood drain out of the mugger's face, and the life right out of his shaking body, and the very joy out of his future?

Squeeze, until the nutty pulp runs out from between his gnarly, old fingers. Squeeze, until a loud popping sound fills the night air. Squeeze, until the mugger screams like a little girl and falls to the pavement, never to enjoy the feel of loving again.

Gichin called for the constabules. Yep, he stood on that street corner and held that mugger and waited for the police. And the mugger was trotted away to jail to think about his crimes, and the unnerving experience of having his manhood held by another man.

What a lesson for a mugger, eh? Another lesson of the interesting type would be if you looked up the history of the word testament and where it really comes from. Anyway, the reason I relayed this little anecdote is this...don't walk down that dark alley.

Yep. My students have heard me say this, and they know what I mean. When you have a choice of a long walk down a lit street, or a short trip through a dark alley, take the long way.

You can tell you've made it to the top of the martial arts when you can see a dark alley before you reach it. A sunny street in a friendly part of town might be a dark alley if there's some mugger waiting for you. And you should have developed, through those endless hours of practice, the extra perception to know the difference between a dark alley and a well lit street.

Home Security Cameras For Monitoring Activities

By Mike Ward

Home security cameras for deterring property damage are quite effective. The little signs telling potential criminals that they are being watched by a home security system is often enough to send them somewhere else. Some people out for a joy ride might decide that hitting mailboxes or taking out some trash cans would be a great Friday or Saturday night thrill. With your camera in place and your announcement prominently displayed, you will avoid being a victim.

It probably has occurred to you that you are attempting to secretly watch those teenagers or that nanny. Think of it as you may, but the camera will record a true scene of the activities you are not at home to witness. If you spend a lot of time away from home, you are predictable to others and they can use that predictability to their advantage.

Cameras used to watch the traffic outside you home, alerts you to many activities. Besides watching the people who intend to do property damage to your home or yard, you will have the advantage of many other outdoor happenings, day or night. It helps to have eyes outside in a dark backyard. Why does your dog bark so much at night? Who's out there!

The price range of cameras for home security is varied. Cameras come in all prices from $40 to $4000. There is fair to good to excellent quality in the lenses and the systems themselves. Choose a camera that suits your needs and your purse.

There are many different cameras which have many different functions. The infrared camera, the pan/tilt camera and many others allow you to custom choose the features that suit you and your needs the best. Inquire about the features with the experts and even if you are quite savvy with electronics, ask questions about the specifics.

This home security camera will serve you for a long time. It is worth every penny if it is installed properly. The systems can be tied in with your cell phone or PC at work. Since you will benefit from a working system, you might as well be prepared to do it right.

Monitoring home activity while you are away from home might seem like a overkill to some people, but for the sake of your children's safety, it is a wise choice. A nanny who doesn't do her job or is abusive to your baby needs to be reprimanded...confronted with sound evidence and dismissed. You might be able to identify problems with teenage behavior before it is too late.

Once you determine that you need a home security camera, make sure you research several different models. Check with the experts and invest what you must to obtain a truly reliable system. It will be worth the effort and expense for you for many years to come.

The Secret of Butterfly Kung Fu!

By Al Case

I'm addicted to the martial arts. I've studied Southern Shaolin and Northern Shaolin and Wing Chun and Tai Chi and Pa Kua and...I can't stop. This is not bad, of course, for the health benefits and the clarity of mind are absolutely phenomenal. There is one problem, however, that I wish to address here, concerning the martial arts.

It can take several years to become proficient in a system of Kung Fu. It can take over a dozen years to master a style of Kung Fu. This is obviously way too long.

My solution to this problem was to concentrate on isolating the main concept--and motion--behind a system of kung fu, and concentrate upon just that concept. I didn't want to learn by memorizing series of tricks, you see, I wanted to go for the gold. I wanted to find out the real secrets behind any system I studied.

The problem was that every system I studied seemed to have a different concept. The Mantis hooked and pulled and Wing Chun slipped and struck. Tai Chi absorbed and guided and pa kua circled and deflected.

None of the systems seemed related! But, I reasoned, fighting is, at heart, fighting! There had to be a simple concept that tied them all together.

There had to be some simple thing that was common to each fighting system, no matter how different the fighting system seemed to be! There had to be an underlying principle that I was missing. And, in the end, I found it.

No matter what type of Kung Fu you are studying, the body is the common denominator. Kung fu, flower arranging, dance, taking a walk...they all need a body. And the body is constructed the same, for the most part, from person to person.

Thus, I dissected and analyzed all the arts, and found that there is a principle of body motion, relating to and coming from the body, that is the same for virtually all arts. And the arts I was studying suddenly made sense, and I could see the connections. I had found the source of it all!

Eventually, I formed my own system, and it is based on this common principle of body structure, and the only potentials of motion that a body is capable of. I call this system the Shaolin Butterfly, and the true glory of it is that is includes virtually all potentials of motion from all other systems of Kung Fu. Oh, and one other thing about this system that is great--it can be learned in a couple of months.

You're Strong Enough!

By Al Case

I am about to say something that is really rude. I'm about to say you're doing something that is all wrong. It will be interesting to see whether you can take it.

Read through the martial arts magazines and you will come across lots of ads that appeal to your desire to get stronger. Maybe they tell you you can beat up the sand kicking bully, or maybe they tell you will get the girl if you can just be stronger. The problem is...they're wrong.

Your muscles are quite strong enough as they are. You are strong enough to do just about anything you might want to do right now. No increase in your strength is really necessary, either to do the martial arts or anything else...including defeating that bully.

Real strength can be defined in many ways. There is the real strength you possess as measured by the number of friends you have. This is a strength that will never end, and is opposed to the fellow who takes martial arts just so he can beat people up.

Then there is the strength of energy, which you cultivate by breathing and stretching and slow motion. This strength lasts ten times longer than muscle strength. This strength will never slow you down or bulk you up, such as can be experienced by many types of weightlifting methods.

This energy strength is available through the practice of forms. The slower you go when you do the form, the more strength you will have. The reason for this phenomena is because doing forms cultivates awareness.

Awareness is the ultimate strength. When you do something, maybe do a form stance, you become aware of how your legs work. Thus, you learn how to make them work better, and all sorts of other things, and the legs become measurably stronger.

Yes, simple exercises of the weight lifting type give you a little strength, but you tend to become aware of the iron that you are lifting, and not of your body. When awareness becomes focused on the body, this makes the body stronger, and gives you more real strength. It is awareness that will make you as strong as you can ultimately be.

Awareness of how your body works, instead of the endless lifting of iron. Awareness that is not concentrating upon your desire for self-image, but rather on the seeking of self-improvement. Awareness, but, unfortunately, most students are mired in such ruts that they are unable to seek out methods that increase awareness.

Infrared Security Cameras - Security in the Darkest Night

By Jeffrey Parker

Often times break-ins happen at night even though most burglaries happen between 6 AM and 6 PM. Infrared security cameras provide you with security at night; they are invisible night watchmen. Many business owners worried about after hour break-ins, burglaries and vandalism all employ infrared security cameras. The benefits of having a system such as this that can record pictures in the black of night are numerous. You need no ambient light source and you can conceal the camera, essentially reducing it to invisibility by placing it in the darkest crevice in the recording perimeter of your choosing. There is no better watchman than one who cannot be seen.

Infrared Security Cameras are equipped with mechanisms that allow for the emission of light in the infrared spectrum. Infrared light is undetectable by the naked eye. Furthermore, the clarity and the picture quality of an IR camera rival that of the best digital camera on the market today. In low light environs where there is a little illumination from the moon or from the stars, the picture quality of an infrared security camera reproduces that of a digital recording camera recording in the daytime.

There are a few drawbacks and limitations to most standard models of infrared cameras. The LED emissions of many conventional infrared security cameras only have a range of 50 feet. This means that your viewing scope will be dramatically limited to only 50 feet. As a consideration, depending on your needs as a homeowner or a business owner, you can acquire a model that provides up to 100 feet of LED light emission, thus enabling a viewing scope of 100 feet. You will pay slightly more for this, but depending on your needs the additional expenditure will be worth it. There are some IR security cameras that have a view rendering of up to 300 feet! Big businesses and such employ these more expensive and effective cameras. A typical infrared security camera image is in black and white. The reason for this being that at night, typically there is no source from which the camera can derive true colors from the visible spectrum of light.

You can find infrared security cameras at any department store in America. Places like Rite Aid, Wal-Mart, Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy, just to name a few are among many department stores that carry infrared security cameras. Additionally, home improvement stores like ACE, Home Depot and Osh Hardware & Garden all carry complete infrared security camera systems that come with stand alone monitors equipped with recording devices. Also dont forget to employ the internet in your quest to acquire an infrared security camera. You can make purchases from the comfort of your own home, taking to time to compare prices.

A Rank Matter

By Al Case

I was studying Chinese Kenpo Karate back in 1967. I have to tell you there was not a lot of martial arts being taught back then. Judo had become known during the 50's, and karate was making it's impact during the 60's, but the gung fu craze of the 70's, and the ninpo phase of the 90's were still far away.

At any rate, I was studying what I thought had to be the best art in the world, and I was studying under a person who I just knew was the deadliest man to ever walk the face of the planet. After all, the other instructors all told me he was just unbeatable, and he even had trophies in the window! How could I consider doubting?

One day I was talking to a green belt who had joined our school just recently, but who had known my instructor for years. "Look," he said, pointing at a certificate on the wall, "there's my name." And sure enough, there was his name, and it was attesting to my instructor's certificate of rank!

Some time after that I was studying a form of Korean karate--sorry, there wasn't any real tae kwon do back then, and the tae kwon do that there was used pinans/heians in their curriculum. This art was also taught by a fellow surrounded by rumor. This time I looked at the teacher instead of the certificate, and ended up staying.

As time went on and I made the journey up to black belt I received these ornate, beautiful certificates with original Korean writing and a real chop. When I received my black belt certificate, however, all I got was just a shoddy piece of paper with bad handwriting. My instructor explained it away with, "Oh, I left that organization. Had to create some certificates of my own."

Curious, having the funny feeling that there was something more to the story, I asked one of the assistant instructors what the skinny was. The true story, according to that fellow, was that a couple of young Koreans came in one day and told my instructor that the organization he belonged to was being absorbed by another organization, so he would have to come along, and if he did so he would automatically be promoted one rank, and so would all of his black belts.

My instructor wasn't impressed, and he left the organization, and, you know what? I didn't care one bit. Somewhere in between the pair of arts that I had studied I had lost my awe for beautiful pieces of paper, and had gained an appreciation for art that works.

It's been many years since that time, and, as an instructor, I find that it irks me that students are concerned with rank. As one who could be accused of rapidly joining the ranks of old farts, I see the importance of goal motivation, but I also see the young becoming obsessed with social status to the neglect of workability. And when one of these young students presses my buttons on this matter I'll inform him, "rank is to help me order the class, not for you to impress your friends.

Don't Tase Me Bro' Shows That Tasers Effective

By Steve Thibeault

In September of 2007, a University of Florida student was being subdued by police officers and yelled the now immortal phrase -- don't tase me bro. In that instant, tasers entered the mainstream. These self-defense devices have been around for a long time, but now it seemed as if the public were well aware of their potency.

The words "don't tase me bro" are memorable, as they adequately describe the effectiveness of this weapon. The recipient was clearly afraid of the consequences. These items are ideal for protecting yourself and your family, as they work from several feet away. The taser prevents an assailant from coming into close contact, and renders the person incapacitated.

It is important to remember that tasers are nonlethal, because they cause no permanent injury. These weapons immobilize somebody for 30 seconds through the use of compressed nitrogen, which is shot through two electrically charged probes. High-voltage disrupts the central nervous system, which makes it impossible to do anything.

Pop culture gained a new icon when the phrase "don't tase me bro" was entered in 2007. The phrase now appears in the New Oxford American dictionary and is the most memorable quote in the 2007 Yale Book of Quotations. Pop groups DiVo and The Clash produced songs using this phrase. Quite apart from this lightheartedness, tasers can save a person's life during an attack.

Tasers are not similar to a stun gun, even though in some cases a stun gun is added to taser models as a backup. The stun gun will apply only to a localized area, whereas the taser will overpower the whole body. Tasers can be fired from up to 15 feet away and are effective through numerous layers of clothing, regardless where it hits on the body.

Featuring neuromuscular incapacitation technology, the latest taser devices can incapacitate a person faster than a 9 mm handgun. Don't forget, though, that this item does not cause serious harm to a person, whereas a bullet, obviously would. The taser is a very effective self-defense device.

No criminal wants to experience the effects, so, silently, they are probably all saying don't taste me bro to themselves, whilst running away! This somewhat comical phrase speaks volumes to the success that these devices have in scaring away would-be attackers. The chances are you will not have to use this device, just to show the other person that you have it.

The Florida student was being confronted by police, when he yelled the phrase don't tase me bro. The items used by law enforcement are more powerful and can be used from a distance further away, than the technology available for civilian use. However, the civilian items are very efficient, and will be sufficient to protect you.

Developing Leaders

By Bart Icles

In these challenging times, more and more organizations are looking for ways to cut their costs while working their way through deficits. There are organizations that believe the simplest and most painless way to manage costs and revenues is through cutting the budget for employee training. However, organizations who are able to see the long term understand that organizational success relies largely on the development of human resources, especially on the competence of the organizational leaders.

There are lots of materials that speak about leadership development. Oftentimes, organizations adhere too much on tips given by such materials that they fail to realize that there are approaches that do not fit their organizational leadership needs. The success of a leadership development programs depends on the fit between the needs of an organization and the approaches being applied to address the problems.

Organizations must understand that leadership development is not about merely reading journals and articles on the subject or participating in trainings and seminars that focus on leadership development. Leadership development and sustaining it is a continuous process. It must be customized to the needs of a specific organization for its benefits to be fully-optimized. Although there is no perfectly canned leadership development program, there are approaches that yield better chances of achieving success in leadership development.

Successful leadership development starts with planning. Organizations must able to identify their present leadership status so it can better gauge given by its leaders and mere members. Organizations must be able to ask themselves and at the same answer the following questions: Do we have an all-inclusive for human resources development? What are the new concepts or ideas that our leaders can learn from leadership development programs? How much time, money, and effort are we willing to spend on developing leadership? Who are the people who are most in need of leadership training? What kind of education, training, and work experiences do they have? How many years have they spent on these? What are the personalities of the targeted participants? What best motivates them?

The next step would be putting the leadership development program into action. In this stage, organizations must ensure that the program they are trying to implement is able to help meet its needs. As a follow-up to the leadership development program, organizations must also give room for coaching or mentoring. Effective coaches and mentors can help decrease learning curves, enabling organizations to realize faster returns on their leadership development investments.

As leadership development is a process, it must be reiterated throughout the lifecycles of different members of the organizations. From entry to exit points, the organizational idea of what a successful leader is must be constantly indoctrinated. Also, leaders must not be left stagnant with ideas. In any organization, leaders often make good mentors and coaches.

MMA Pioneer Helio Gracie Remembered

By Davis Hawthorne

Helio Gracie--patriarch of the legendary Gracie MMA family--died earlier this year in Rio De Janeiro at age 95. His influence on martial arts, and even more so the sport that is known known as mixed martial arts, is staggering. The Gracie family name will forever be synonymous with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MMA and the UFC due to the accomplishments of Helio Gracie and his progeny.

Helio Gracie began studying martial arts early in life, and by the age of 16 had already begun to teach judo in his native Brazil. While Helio had no problem mastering the theoretical aspects of judo, he found that many of its techniques required a great deal of brute strength which made them less effective for a smaller fighter such as himself. Along with his brother Carlos, he began to adapt many of judos techniques to make them more reliant on leverage rather than strength. This experimentation led to the creation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) which is often referred to as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in his honor.

Gracie also had a professional fighting career of his own, taking on champions from other fighting disciplines in an early version of modern MMA. These bouts were grueling, unregulated affairs with rules that were often made up as they went along and time limits that seem barbaric by todays standards. By his own recollection, he had 15 fights against the top fighters of his day. These included pro wrestlers, boxers and other martial arts specialists.

His most famous battle was against Japanese judo legend Masahiko Kimura, resulting in a rare loss for Gracie. Despite the setback, he fought bravely and may have actually enhanced his legend after refusing to submit to a reverse arm bar (the same move that now bears Kimuras name). Only after his arm was broken did his brother Carlos throw in the towel.

Gracie's greatest impact, however, may have been through his progeny which is an important part of Brazilian sports and mixed martial arts even today. Royce Gracie is well known as the first UFC superstar, while sons Rickson Royler, Renzo have also achieved considerable fame in professional MMA. At the time of his death, Helio Gracie was a 6th Dan Judo black belt and the only living 10th degree master of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

The cause of Gracies death was officially given as natural causes. He had been having stomach problems for several days prior to his passing, and was admitted to a Rio hospital for this reason. His seriously epic last words will go down as a fitting envoi to a man who gave so much of himself to fighting:

"I created a flag from the sports dignity. I oversee the name of my family with affection and nerves of blood.

Massage Chair Review: Omega OM 510 Massage Recliner

By James Knolan

We take an in depth look at the Prestigio massage chair built by Omega Massage. We have developed a 5 category system to help bring a more consistent and thorough review process for potential massage chair buyers. We break the review process into 5 important key categories to present the total complete massage chair purchase. This structured system of evaluation assigns equal weight to each of the 5 categories. Each category can earn up to 20 points for a total possible score of 100 points. A score of 100 points would signify the chair and the company have achieved total excellence. The 5 categories included are Warranty & Customer Service, Comfort/Ergonomics, Ease of Use, Features and Massage Therapy. This structured approach helps to remove bias and bring a better balance to the massage chair evaluation process. This review will cover the OM-510 Prestigio massage chair by Omega Massage which is in the 2,000 to $3,000 mid-range price level.

Warranty & Customer Service: You need to take the warranty serious with massage chairs. There are complex moving parts and you can avoid costly future issues. Look at it like an insurance policy. The Prestigio comes with 5 years on the frame, 3 years covered on parts, 90 days of in home service and also 1 year of parts shipping. This is very comprehensive for the mid-tier level. Customer service is competent and responsive. We score it a 19.

Comfort & Ergonomics: The comfort of a massage recliner is important, since you may want to use it just to sit. The OM-510 has a soft padded back pad and comes with a shoulder pillow and a head support pillow. Both of these are detachable. The seat is comfortable and supports the body well. Omega also includes an extra removable back pad. This is used to soften the massage if you are more sensitive. This is important as some users want a massage to be lighter than others. The chair is very well designed ergonomically. The footrest cradles the lower body well. The remote control holder is flexible and can be adjusted easily. Overall Rating for comfort and ergonomics is 17.

Ease of Use: Design of items with technical or complicated interfaces can frustrate users. We hear complaints about ease of use and this why it is an important category. We like the Prestigio with its color coded, large format buttons. The remote is laid out in a simple way with clear descriptions. The change from automatic and manual is a two button process which could be simplified. We give it a 16 for ease of use.

Key Features: Here is what we really like about the Prestigio OM-510 massage chair. It has a soothing reflexology foot massage and an invigorating shiatsu massage. The shiatsu massage gives great and thorough penetration to the back. The rollers reach down the lower lumbar for an excellent lower back massage. The reflexology foot massage takes the days tension right out of your feet. Place those tired, aching feet in the leg rest and let the soothing begin. The reflexology points are stimulated on the bottom of your feet while a firm compression massage takes place on the top of your feet. These key features rate an 18 on our evaluation of the OM 510.

Massage Therapy: The critical category is how is the massage therapy? After all, it is a massage chair. You will not be disappointed at all with the Prestigio. It has 3 timed auto programs that provide a thorough and comprehensive massage to your back. You can switch to manual and select from 4 back courses including upper, lower, full and pinpoint. Select the manual massage treatment for targeted relief including kneading, tapping, finger press and shiatsu. The lower body is covered with the air massage system. Select the level of compression with the Prestigio for your buttocks, thighs, calves and feet. This is one invigorating massage therapy machine and scores a 19 in massage therapy.

Overall Rating: We give the OM-510 Prestigio an 89/100. We think this is a very impressive and effective massage chair. You will have years of relief and invigoration with the Prestigio. This massage recliner comes in a beautiful design with wood armrests and plush back pad. A designer side table also comes with this mid level massage chair. You get the most comprehensive warranty with the Prestigio from Omega. This massage recliner has it all.

When Rank Matters

By Al Case

I was studying Chinese Kenpo back in 1967. I have to tell you there was not a lot of martial arts back then. Judo had become known during the 50's, and karate was making it's impact during the 60's, but the kung fu craze of the 70's, and the ninjitsu phase of the 90's were still aways off.

I was studying what I just knew was the best art in the world, and I was studying under a person who I just knew was the deadliest man to ever walk the face of the universe. After all, everybody bowed down to him, and they all told me he was just unbeatable, and he even had trophies in the window! How could I ever doubt?

One day I was talking to a green belt who had just joined our school and who had known my instructor for years. "Look," he said suddenly, 'there's my name.' And sure enough, there was his name, right on and attesting to my instructor's certificate of rank!

Some time after that I was studying a form of Korean karate--sorry, there wasn't any tae kwon do back then, and the tae kwon do that there was used heian/pinans in their curriculum. This art was also taught by a fellow who was surrounded by all sorts of rumor. This time, however, I ignored rumor and certificate, and I looked at the teacher, and I ended up staying.

As time went on and I worked my up to black belt I received these beautiful, ornate certificates with original Korean writing and a real chop. But when I received my black belt the certificate was just a shoddy piece of paper with bad handwriting. My instructor said, "Oh, I left that organization. Had to make up some certificates on my own."

Curious, having the feeling that there was a bit more to be known, I asked one of the assistant instructors what the truth was. The truth, according to that assistant instructor, was that a couple of Korean fellows entered the school one day and told my instructor that the organization he belonged to was merging with another organization, so he would have to merge, too, and if he did so he would automatically be raised one rank, and so would all of his black belts.

My instructor didn't think too much of rank offered in such a manner, and he left the organization, and, you know what? It didn't bother me at all. Somewhere between the two martial arts that I had learned I had lost my appreciation for beautiful pieces of paper, and had gained an appreciation for martial arts that work.

As an instructor, these many decades later, I find that it bothers me that students are concerned with rank. As a fellow who could be accused of rapidly joining the ranks of old farts, I see the value of motivating by goal, but I also see the young becoming infatuated with social status to the neglect of workability. And when, as often happens, some young student presses my buttons on this matter I'll tell him, "Rank is to help me order the class, not for you to impress your friends.

Protecting Children with Mental Disorders

By Marion Jones

Who are the predators? Predators are Cyber Stalkers, serial killers/rapists, rapists, paedophiles, women beaters, child abusers, thieves and so on. Predators often have mental problems that keep them from behaving properly in normal society. Children with mental illnesses are often the prey of these predators, and sometimes children with mental disorders are the predators themselves. In fact, the creator of one of the most dangerous viruses online came from an eighteen-year old from England.

Dangers mental disorders: Not everyone with a mental illness is a threat to society. Generally, predators with mental illnesses are plagued with sociopathic, psychopathic and anti-social disorders, oppositional defiance, conduct control disorders, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorders (BPD), and psychosis. While there are a few other mental illnesses that pose threats to our society, this is a list of the most common potential dangers that lurk on the streets and on the Internet.

How to save a child with mental disorders from dangers : Never treat your child as if he/she has a mental illness. Treat your child as special, yet avoid treating the child as if he/she is mentally ill, since many mentally ill patients are extremely intelligent. Teach your child the same rules that other children abide by and stick to the rules. Do not leave room for leniency when danger is present. Teach your child respect by showing respect yourself.

Children with dangerous mental illnesses will often want to watch pornography, violent images, content, and so forth. This makes it difficult as a parent to defend your child. However, it is vital that you lay down the rules. Never put yourself in danger while enforcing these rules, since some children with dangerous problems can be violent.

If the child refuses to listen to you, bring the police in and make sure that they do their job to help you enforce the rules. You may pay court fees and go through headaches, but I promise you it will benefit you in the end. As a mother raising two boys with dangerous mental diseases, I can tell you it won't be simple, but it can be done.

Children with mental disorders often have brilliant minds that can usually get round any parental controls and will do so without you even knowing. Take more time than normal to monitor your child's behaviour online. Teach your child that divulging personal details is dangerous and encourage them to ask your permission when thinking about giving name, phone number or other information online.

Leave room for your child to take some responsibility and always encourage your child to participate in family discussions that involve them. Encourage the child to protect their safety by encouraging them to report any wrong committed against them.

One of the most difficult things you'll ever have to do while raising a child with mental health issues is encouraging him/her to avoid from violent images and pornography. It is almost impossible to keep them away from this rubbish. However, it can be done, if you set a good example for the child.

It is important that you keep talking and listening to your child. Allow your child to express concerns, opinions, ideals, theories and so forth without demeaning the child. You will be astounded at the knowledge children with certain mental illnesses have, if you will only listen to them.

The best advice I can give you for dealing with children with major mental illnesses, such as psychopathy, is to seek help and stand firm. For additional child safety tips for children with mental disorders seek advice from a qualified professional.

Remember: Children learn what they see and hear.

Find People's Addresss Without Hiring A Professional

By Marc Marseille

We all have the need at one point or another to locate someone that we desperately need to get in touch with. The reasons can vary, it may be personal or a may be a serious business matter that needs to be resolved.

Before computers were an everyday thing, trying to find someone was like locating a needle in a haystack. You were forced more often than not to hire a professional private investigator.

The advantages of being able to do your own search will alleviate the high cost of hiring an investigator. Private investigators charge you for their services in three ways:

2. You will not have to pay a professional hundreds or even thousands to use their database.

2. You will not have to hire different investigators to do searches in other states.

3. You will not have to pay hourly fees to maintain someone who is milking your time.

The same information that private investigators are able to access is no longer private. This information is available to anyone with an internet connection through a program called Reverse Phone Detective. What that means is that you can play the part of a private investigator by just having someone's cell phone number.

The reverse phone lookup system will also provide you with name, address and family members in your search. So in essence you will be cutting out the middle man, saving some money and getting results at your fingertips.

The Greatest Samurai in Old Japan (the haunted years)

By Al Case

The house was silent and the night was dark and. It was so silent that if a mouse had passed gas in a corner, the whole household would have heard it. Suddenly, a low groaning sound rose and fell, then silence, then more groaning, rising like a wind warning of tempests yet to come.

"Master!" The servant hurried through the house, searching for where Sokaku Takeda slept, for the Master slept in a different location every night, and changed his location every hour or two. It was the only way, he claimed, that he could be safe from his enemies.

"OOOO!" The moan was now a full throated shout, and the members of the household could be heard moving about, muttering nervously at the sound of the Master's nightly dreams. At last, the servant located where Sokaku had unrolled his bedding--in a cupboard under a stairway.

"Master Takeda!" The servant called softly, afraid to knock on the door of the cupboard, for his master slept with an iron fan and a sharp dagger and, and in the middle of a nightmare he could easily kill his faithful servant. The servant found a nearby umbrella.

Tentatively, he reached forward and tapped on the cupboard. The doors burst open, however, and before the servant could even see the old man, Sokaku Takeda had thrown him on the floor. A sharp dagger was pressed to the servant's throat.

"You! Did you think I wouldn't know you? I fought you before and won, and I can...what?"

Another servant appeared with a lantern, and the sudden influx of light made Sokaku blink. He was disheveled, bleary-eyed, pale. The dagger had brought forth a drop of blood from the first servant's throat, and the arm of the first servant, where Sokaku had gripped him, felt like it was going to break.

"Master Takeda?" The first servant begged. Sokaku looked at the man in his grip, then he began to understand what he was really doing.

Tired, but still charged with power, Sokaku reached back into the cupboard and brought out his bedding. Without a glance, he went from the room, searching for another place to attempt to sleep. If only he could rest undisturbed, just for a while, but always...it seemed...the souls of the people he had killed looked for him and found him.

Defining Crazy in the Martial Arts!

By Al Case

There are three specific definitions for the word crazy. One definition is mentally unbalanced. If I knew anybody that was mentally balanced I would have them explain this to me.

Another definition in the dictionary is...immoderately fond of something. I have been immoderately fond of the martial arts since Noah went skinny dipping. Don't tell anybody, but I actually went to karate class on the night of my wedding!

And the third definition...extremely impractical. Try telling that one to the guy who signs my paychecks! Or, to get a little tragic, just look at our government.

So what the heck does crazy mean? Obviously, we could have a crazy argument concerning this. So let me give you a few samples and hone in on what, beyond all the words, it really is.

Crazy is standing around talking about dismembering another person. What well balanced, normal person would ever want to do that? Why, nobody would, especially a guy taking a karate class, would..uh, never mind.

Crazy is the outlaw biker who studied the martial arts who told me the purpose of a single finger strike to the eye is not merely to deflate the eyeball but, by angling the finger correctly, to insert the finger and pop out the eyeball. He said one is then supposed to chase the rolling eyeball and step on it in full view of the victim. I didn't ask him how a person missing an eyeball could be considered to have a full view of things.

Crazy are the movies where the hero decides to kill himself and delivers a karate strike to his own body and expires. I mean, I understand committing seppuku (stomach cutting), as done by a failed samurai, but hitting yourself? This guy has added a new dimension to getting up on the wrong side of the bed.

But my favorite example of crazy is the fellow who came in to watch one of my classes. Afterwards he came up to me and complimented me, but said he knew something that was a little better than what I taught. I asked him what, expecting him to pull out a toy pistol...this was a while ago, now they pull out real pistols!

The fellow dropped to his hands and knees and started barking like a dog. Getting to his feet and brushing off his pants the fellow told me that when he did that people thought he was crazy and left him alone. You know, now that I think about it, that's about the sanest thing I ever heard!

CCTV Security Camera Guide

By Adam Togo

There are two types of CCTV cameras. You can choose from CMOS or CCD which are differentiated by the image sensor. Cameras that are CMOS based are cheaper of the two but do not produce the same quality of image in terms of sharpness and clarity as the CCD camera delivers.

Depending on your needs you can find the camera that is right for you. If you need to identify faces, you'll need a vastly different security camera from a need to simply monitor crowd traffic patterns.

There is a difference in cameras designed for indoor versus outdoor use. There are additional durability standards that the camera would need to ensure it survives the harsh conditions, unlike an indoor security camera.

Other things that will directly impact your buying decision include your budget, for the entire system as well as per individual security camera, as well as the size of your entire security system and the number of cameras you required. The number of cameras you require depends on the number of areas you wish to monitor.

The lighting in the area to be monitored by your security camera is another important consideration. A high quality camera designed for daytime use installed in a low light environment won't be able to render anything more than shades of black. If that is the case you will need flood lights or some other source of lighting in the area.

If you're going to need to monitor night scenes consider a black and white camera as they will deliver sharper images in low light. If you want 24 hour surveillance consider a day/night outdoor security camera.

For true low light recording there are dedicated nigh vision cameras available. Look for lower LUX rating when the environment the camera will be used in will have less light. A lower LUX rating means less light is required for the camera to capture an image. A camera with a rating of 0 means it works in complete darkness.

A cameras resolution measures the sharpness of the image the camera will capture; higher resolution, higher quality image. Entry level cameras start at resolutions of 330 lines upward to 400 lines in higher quality cameras.

There are more advanced monitoring systems that allow for panning and zooming the camera but for many a standard recording device will suffice. Most people will use a digital video recorder, or DVR to record directly onto a harddisk.

Building a strong downline is simple with these 5 tips!

By Direct Sales Power Network

One of the best parts of being in direct sales is the fact that you can recruit, train and motivate a team that works for you not only building their own little empire, but helping to boost yours as well. It's the number one reason many direct sellers concentrate so hard at recruiting a team of their own.

If you are a team leader, you'll find that you must build firm alliances with team members. Not doing so would only rish losing them all together. You need to build up a solid relationship that will benefit you both.

How can you make certain your team is feeling included and supported, but still maintain some sense of balance within your own life and business? It can be demanding trying to provide support to everyone (especially if you have a large team). Follow these five ideas for sustaining a supportive and good connection with your team:

1. Don't wait to get going! New recruits need lots of communication and support. Even if she doesn't even have her kit yet, be there to answer questions and provide training materials.

They will feel connected to the company and to you. You should communicate with your new recruit each day she is waiting for her kit. This is very easy to do with an autoresponder system, but can also be done by just copying and pasting into an email message every morning.

2. Give of yourself (for at least 15 minutes a day). Leave them a voicemail, write emails, send out broadcast emails to your group, do whatever works with your team. You can devote a few minutes to those team members who need a little more help. Make a time for a phone conference and stick to it.

3. Even if you have a personal website for your business, make a team website. It is great for communication. You can post new members, meeting dates and updates, etc. Your team can check it at their convenience and it keeps everyone connected.

4. Meetings are essential, but you can set up tele-seminars and host phone call meeting or online meetings. Whatever method you choose, just do it! Your group will falter faster if they don't feel supported and meetings are the best way to keep them together and involved.

5. Ecards. They are FREE (great!), but also convenient and fun. Use an Internet calendar function to keep track of birthdays. Once a month go through the upcoming month and set up the ecard deliveries for the birthdays, anniversary dates for the next month or more. You can set these up to deliver up to a year in advance! Everyone likes to get an ecard!

The message to get when building and growing a team is communication. Your members must feel included and supported. They need to know you are there for them when they have questions and even when they don't. It's the "when they don't" that they'll remember most!

Isis Unbound

By James G. Pynn

Among those who regale their libraries with tomes dedicated to the fine leaders of history, they invariably end up with a collection dominated by men. To be sure, there have been and continue to be a good number of fine leader who happen to be males. But we must remember an old adage: the victors write history. This is not to imply that there has been a concerted war against the female of the species, but indeed, there does seem to be some kind of conspiracy involved.

The ascension of patriarchy seems to have necessitated the diminishment of matriarchy. When we consider the matriarchal structure of primitive Celtic cultures, and indeed if we are to believe the tales of Herodotus and the Amazonian state (some say in modern-day Ukraine, some say Asia Minor), then how is it we know so little about so great a many women who led nations and tribes -- and men?

History is, at best, a speculative field. We can only tell so much from the archeological record. To be sure, we can only know so much from an alphabet or even an epic poem. That countless women have been cast into the abyss of history is a foregone conclusion. We shall never know the struggles and military accomplishments of countless queens and matrons. Indeed, we shall never know their tenderness or their travails.

Can we ever understand the roots of leadership? When leadership is so intermingled and impossibly entangled with militarism, the roots of leadership and what it means to lead a people is forever entrenched in the notion that to lead is to kill or have killed. Leadership is not simply leading others to their final glory. It is understanding and knowing your people, your compatriots. It is leading the way for crops to be planted, cattle herded, families protected and fed.

As long as leading means to leading men and women to slaughter, the ability to truly lead will be perpetually subverted. That new generations of women are seeking out the rhetorical and academic underpinnings of leadership is comforting. To know your enemy, for lack of a better word, is to understand the challenge before you. To understand how military endeavors subvert the people and undermine the ability to truly lead is to understand how to lead people beyond the "us and them" paradigm and towards a greater, more perfect harmony.

Regulatory Oversight Lacking In Japanese MMA

By Steve Burnside

Ian Murphy shouldn't have been allowed to fight against Ronaldo Jacare on the DREAM 2 MMA card in Tokyo. That he was demonstrates the almost complete lack of regulatory oversight in Japanese MMA. The fight culture of the country is rooted in sumo and pro wrestling, with individual fighters often viewed as expendable and interchangeable commodities. In some cases even the simplest steps to protect the fighters' safety are not taken.

The fight between Ian Murphy and Ronaldo Jacare would have never been sanctioned in the United States. Murphy had just turned 22, and as of a couple of months prior to his DREAM 2 appearance was completing his senior season of wrestling at Cal State Fullerton. While he was a standout collegiate wrestler, he'd been seriously training for mixed martial arts for little more than a month. He'd never even had an amateur fight. While his athletic background definitely suggests potential as a MMA fighter he was essentially a novice.

His opponent at DREAM.2, Ronaldo Jacare Souza, was in no way a novice. Jacare began training in judo at age 14 and later changed his focus to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Now 27, Jacare is a BJJ black belt and has been called one of the most feared submission grapplers in the world. That was evidenced in 2006 when Jacare fought former UFC heavyweight champ Randy Couture to a draw in a submission wrestling event. Jacare's original opponent--tough veteran Frank Trigg--would have found him a difficult matchup. After Trigg was forced to withdraw days before the fight, DREAM management approached Murphy who readily agreed to take the fight.

The fight itself was essentially over before it began. Murphy was visibly nervous to the point of near panic as he made his ring walk. He could be seen taking a few deep breaths to steady his nerves. While any fighter would have felt a few butterflies walking into Saitama Super Arena for the first time, Murphys obvious apprehension transcended this. This underscored the reality that he hadnt any real experience or knowledge competing or even training in a mixed martial arts environment. That training would have taken him to a point where he could at least sublimate the problematic emotional cocktail of fear, excitement, nervousness, uncertainty and confusion. Murphy's amateur wrestling pedigree aside, DREAM might as well have picked someone out of the audience as they would have had a greater familiarity with MMA.

From the start of the match it was all Jacare. Murphy tried to use the only real weapon at his disposal and shot in attempting to take down his opponent. He partially succeeded, but more likely Jacare allowed himself to be taken down. From this point on, Murphy was in Jacares world where he received an emphatic crash course in submission ground fighting. Jacare eventually forced Murphy to tap out to a rear naked choke, evidencing that he'd had no experience on how to defend a basic MMA submission.

Ronaldo Jacare is the one player in this story that can be held blameless. He did what a fighter is supposed to do, which is to try to defeat his opponent to the best of his ability. Virtually everyone else involved in the fight bears some measure of culpability. FEG should never have booked Murphy to fight, Murphys handlers should have never accepted knowing their fighters almost non-existent MMA training and the official in the ring for not stopping the fight much sooner. At least this tale of indifference and ineptitude has a somewhat happy ending as Murphy emerged unscathed, with the exception of having suffered a beating. Still, the potential for disaster and tragedy by involving a completely inexperienced fighter in the event is significant as is the collateral damage such an occurrence would have on MMA worldwide.

Any legitimate oversight body would have stepped in to do what everyone else involved was too greedy, indifferent or ignorant to do by refusing to sanction this fight. Unfortunately, there isnt any significant oversight at all and none focused on the well being of the participants. In the United States, the sport is regulated in much the same way as boxing. In Japan, the sport that grew out of professional wrestling is regulated in essentially the same way. That is to say like pro wrestling its largely anything goes in terms of rules, safety and other issues concerning fighter well being.

Change comes slowly in Japanese culture and in political matters slower still. The two organizations that oversee Japanese boxing (the Japanese Boxing Association and the Japanese Professional Boxing Association) have historically done little and have existed more as money making ventures than regulatory agencies. Its taken some high profile in ring deaths in recent years to even generate talk of reform. Despite some nominal show of concern by government officials little has been done and the JBA and JPBA are more concerned about their turf war as sanctioning bodies than they are doing anything to protect fighters who box in Japan. The promotion behind World Victory Road has done what they can to rectify the situation with regard to MMA by creating a Japan Mixed Martial Arts Commission to serve as the oversight authority for the sport. Unfortunately, without some government involvement its unlikely they can have much of an impact just as the supposed current group in charge of rules in Japanese MMA, the International Shooto Commission, has been rendered largely impotent.

Unfortunately, there's no real mandate for change within the Japanese political culture. Even should a death occur in Japan, its unlikely that would spur much demand for stricter oversight of mixed martial arts. Perhaps the best near term catalyst for change is the Japanese fight fans who should hold promoters accountable for the way they treat and protect their fighters.

Managing Programme Benefits and Outcomes

By Rob Llewellyn

The management of benefits and outcomes is sometimes light on the ground in many programmes of work. This is not wise when considering the fundamental reason for beginning a programme is to realise benefits and outcomes through change; whether it is to do things in a new way or to do things that will influence others to change.

The OGC's MSP Principles include strong emphasis on Benefits Management (BM) with the following keys stages covered off:

A Benefits Management Process

The Benefits Management Strategy

A Identification of Benefits

A Quantification of Benefits

A Set of Benefit Profiles

Benefit Modelling

The Benefits Realisation Plan

A Process to Review Benefit Realisation

Responsibilities for BM

As benefits are the quantification of the change delivered by the programme, they should be used to help direct and make decisions throughout the course of the programme.

In our Programme Management roles we should determine the critical measures and indicators of success and make arrangements to ensure the programme remains appropriate and on track to deliver the intended benefits and outcomes.

Programme Managers should check that:

- The planned outcomes remain achievable;

- All the planned outcomes are not changed in scope, relationship or value;

- The key stakeholders remain committed and confident that outcomes will be achieved when planned;

- The plan for achieving outcomes is being pro-actively managed;

- The plan is monitored against agreed performance measures/key performance indicators and any problems resolved promptly.

Where key benefits have been properly identified, e.g. more effective service delivery or increased efficiency, these benefits should be properly managed in the same way. We should be able to define exactly what a benefit will deliver in a way that can be adequately measured, using realistic timescales, risks & costs. Every benefit should be linked to planned outcomes and every benefit should be assigned to an owner who is responsible and accountable for its eventual realisation.

In large programmes of work, there is often a business change manager coordinating the benefits realisation on behalf of the business areas owning those benefits.

Child Safety Online

By Marion Jones

What is there to say about the world children live in these days? Sexed-up television, pornographic Internet sites and videos and violent board games. A world that is dropping its standards, values, and morals each day, surrounds our children.

What makes it even worse is that we cannot use Parental Controls any more to prevent our children from accessing websites of an adult nature. These days children are knowledgeable about technology and sometimes more so than their parents. How can we keep our children safe from Internet dangers? How can we as parents provide safety for our children, while still battling the corruption going on around the world?

Parental Controls are available on most types of Internet software, yet today, children are skilled at by-passing these Parental Controls. So, what can we do? We can guard our kids by monitoring their time spent on the Internet closely.

How to use parental controls: It depends on which Internet provider you have, however, I will speak only of the Internet providers I am aware of, since not all programs are the same. To use AOL Parental Controls, you will need to go to Safety at the Toolbar and click on Parental Controls.

Once you get there, you will see a drop-down list of available usernames. Search for your child's username and click on it. You will see a popup window appear. Click on 'Edit Web Control' and then click 'Kids Only', and close. Now your child is guarded against websites that hold potential dangers.

Chat rooms pose very serious dangers to children, since anyone can go into these rooms. Often predators frequent these areas, in order to draw children into their dangerous network. In the AOL program, click on 'Safety' and then click on 'Parental Controls'.

In the same way, click on the 'Edit IM Controls', 'Edit E-mail Controls', and 'Edit Chat Control' and complete the same steps as you did to establish the 'Parental Controls'.

It is wise to set up passwords. Passwords will offer additional protection and safety for your child. Do not give the child the passwords, because this will give the child control over the Internet connection, and the child might also reset the controls.

It is also a good idea to use your 'Popup Controllers' too, since if you do not turn on the controls, pop ups could carry a virus that could corrupt your computer or popup adult content, which your child will see when online. You can go into 'AOL Safety' at the toolbar to start these popup blockers.

If you are using Internet Explorer, open a page. Click on 'Tools' at the top menu, click 'Popup Blocker' and then click 'Popup Blocker Settings'. Read the information carefully and set the program at medium. Medium is standard and will block most pop ups. If you put the settings higher than medium you might find it difficult to open websites for browsing.

Some of the dangers posed to children online include: Internet Porn; Child Porn; Child Sexual Abuse; Mobile Porn; and more. As you can see, your child is at serious risk, and if you want to master safety, you have to monitor, and take the steps to safeguard your child against online dangers.

According to recent surveys, students have met sexual malpractices through webcams, instant messengers, and mobile phones. Additional studies reveal that pornographic websites are making more profit than each of CBS, ABC, and NBC television channels each year. The surveys claim that the largest group that views porn sites are children and that these children are typically between the ages of twelve and seventeen.

The statistics showed that around 74% of all the porn sites had unmonitored banners, while another 66% of the websites did not announce adult content warnings. Furthermore, another 11% of the sites did not have 'sexually explicit content' warnings and 25% boxed in their visitors by not letting them leave their websites. Only 3% of the websites out of more than 14 millions adult sites requested adult permission for minors. So, it is vital to protect your child now!
