This is an elliptical consumer review of Yowza Fitness's crosstrainers. You may not have heard of this company before now, but that's alright. This company produced a name for themselves in Europe as a quality provider of fitness equipment, low-maintenance and high-quality. With over 50 years of experience between them, the two founders know quality design.
Yowza decided to make these ellipticals out of Taiwan...why? Because they're smart. China has much lower quality control than Taiwan, for one thing. Furthermore, you may not know this, but the top-notch producers of ellipticals are already using Taiwan's plants. These aren't Chinese cheapos, no offense to the Chinese, these ellipticals are high quality.
Yowza Fitness is offering up four models currently, and all four are on a fire sale status. All their machines are rear-drive models, and the two models that are for the budget-conscious are both solid, smooth machines. These are called Largo and Navarre, and both use the more traditional style of the upper body workout. The handlebars move in synchronous motion with the pedals.
Then there's the 2 upper models: Sanibel and Captiva (Captiva being the top of the line). Both of these make improvements on the traditional style with a proprietary "Cardio Core" training. This training is a patented design that Yowza invented, that targets your core muscles. Your upper body swings left-to-right, working out your abs as your legs get blasted. Yowza calls it "counter rotational core motion," since your upper and lower body twist in opposite directions.
Their competition - you know, the rest of the world? - uses the same design for the upper body workout. They even claim that their machines give a "total body" workout, but this isn't accurate. On most ellipticals, the resistance is reserved for the legs, and the hands grip a pair of handles that simply move along with the pedals with barely any resistance.
The Captiva and Sanibel deliver a powerful, crunch-like workout to your abs, as if you were on the floor. This technology was perfected in their "Core X" machine, an ab workout device that really does blast your core muscles. There isn't another elliptical on the market with this claim, nor this technology - Yowza has genuinely out-performed the entire market with their Cardio Core ellipticals. If the workout gets too intense for your abs, you have the option to dis-engage the core-rocking action and use the stationary handlebars.
One other feature that you really need to pay attention to: the Variable Motion found on the Captiva elliptical. Basically, the foot pedals offer 12 different motions, from 18-32 inches in stride length. As you advance, you can move from the typical elliptical motion and graduate to more of a challenging workout as you're forced to raise your legs.
This increases the longevity of the Captiva as you'll grow more endurance and require more of a challenge, but also benefits you in really providing one serious leg workout. There's no need to worry about repetitive motion damage to your joints with Captiva, which by the way is currently on sale for a $1500 savings and free shipping. Now aren't you glad you read this elliptical consumer review?
Maybe you've never heard of Yowza Fitness until now. This won't be the last elliptical consumer review written about their excellence - they engineer the best in treadmills and ellipticals. In Europe, they already enjoy a first-rate reputation. If you're serious about total body workouts, then you should get one of these crosstrainers. At these prices - they were just recently slashed across the board - you can't get better quality. With an amazing 2 year labor warranty, you can't go wrong!
