Farms With Straw Bales For Sale

Working the land is an age old tradition. Although it is not easy work it still provides a great sense of satisfaction. Many people leave the hustle and bustle of the city to enjoy a quieter life on the land. However, they must be prepared to look in many different directions to find markets for their products.

There are so many different products that can be grow and each one depends on a variety of environmental factors. Wheat and other grains are one of the top crops and one of the main by products are straw bales for sale. Each bale is tightly compacted by specialized machines which makes it easy to stack and handle. The size of a bale can range from small size that can be used for small home based projects, to huge sizes than need to be moved by fork lift truck.

Cows can eat and digest many different types of food. Because of their unique digestive system they are able to consume food stuffs that would be harmful or even fatal to other animals. For centuries cattle have made it through a harsh winter by eating straw. They typically prefer that softer stalks and milder flavor of oat stalks, but are typically willing to eat just about anything.

Straw is now being used for much more than cattle and horse bedding. Many offices and businesses are now actively looking for alternative fuel sources to help heat their buildings in winter. Huge bales can now be used in specially designed and constructed heating systems to help keep costs down and prevent unnecessary waste.

Compost that is naturally produced can be quite valuable. Gardeners and small food producers recognize the value of organic produce. It is becoming increasingly common for local farmers to work together in the production of organic foods. By working locally they also minimize the need for transportation and this will help the environment in many ways.

Most farmers are willing to provide transport, especially for a large order of bales. They are designed to be easy to stack on trailers and unload at their destination. A large horse barn will need regular shipments of bedding and this can be a great way to use up an agricultural byproduct. It also helps to support the local economy and provide jobs for workers.

There are a number of different types of straw. Essentially what the term refers to are the stalks left behind once the wheat, barley or oats have been harvested. Each has a slightly different feel and value.

Straw bale homes are being increasingly common in all parts of the country. They keep homes in the desert south west cool in the summer heat. At the same time, a house built in the north will stay comfortably warm even in the worst of the cold and snow. It is important to use only top quality bales in home construction.
