Not everyone enjoys the standard gym options for obtaining a great aerobics workout. Dance type classes don't fit their style, cycling is just not their speed and even getting on a treadmill or cross-trainer sounds boring. Fortunately, there are a lot of other possibilities out there. Step aerobics might just be the ideal workout for these people.

The Step form of aerobics cardio exercise is can usually be done to a workout with music. The bonus here of course is that you can do it with a class, or it can be done at work, and it can even be done at home where stairs are available.

The general idea of step aerobics like all aerobics is to get the body moving and heart pumping the same way as if it were going up and down a stairway. In either a home or class, this is done using either a single, or double or triple step prop which allows people to copy the exact moves of climbing stairs. To make step aerobics even more fun, lots of home and class workouts involve some choreography and music.

This kind of aerobic workout will also help to lower blood pressure, what it does is send oxygen to the heart and will also lower cholesterol levels.

Greater endurance. Endurance is another truly great benefit of this type of exercise. The more the exercise is done and the more often its performed on a regular basis, the likelier a person will be to increase their levels of endurance.

One major benefit is much better muscle tone. Actually this form of aerobic workout routine will help to tone the legs much more than most of the rest of the body, other items can still be included in without to much of a problem, other things like hand or arm weights, that will help assure an entire body workout.

Greater stress reduction. Almost any aerobics exercise of any type is noted for always helping to relieve most stress, this in turn is great for the whole body.

Of course another really huge benefit is that of disease prevention. Any type of cardio aerobic workout routine done regularly will absolutely help your body get into much better shape. Therefore, these routines will help to actually stave off such illnesses as diabetes and heart disease.

A step aerobics class is a little different than a typical aerobics class, the benefits of step aerobics are still excellent. It provides a workout that can easily be done at home, or in the gym or even at work, this type of exercise helps to make sure a person has all of the bases handled.
