Of course sun guns and tasers are good self defense weapons but Pepper Spray is a very good alternative. The reason why is because it incapacitates an attacker for a longer period of time by limiting their ability to function. They cough, they choke, they have trouble seeing and it causes a really severe burning sensation on their skin. This in turn gives you a better chance of escaping the situation.
It does not get much easier in terms of use than being able to use Pepper Spray. All you have to do is aim it an attacker's face and press the button on the canister. You can stay 8 - 10 feet away and the pepper spray will still be effective.

When sprayed right in the face of someone trying to do harm to you that person will cease and desist immediately. Then you make your escape.
Can you imagine rubbing an open hot pepper into your eyes? Multiply the effects a thousand times and you'll get a good idea of what an attacker will experience. First off the skin around his eyes will feel like somebody set him on fire. His eyes and surrounding skin will swell up and probably shut completely. He will not be able to see, which is a very good thing. That way you can make your exit from the area and he will not be able to see which way you went.
Don't concern yourself with hurting an attacker. Of course he is going to be in a lot of pain for awhile but the effect of you using the pepper spray will start to fade after about 30 minutes. No long term damage or disability has ever resulted from the use of this self defense product.
