Boxing is one of the most popular combat sports in the world and is a great way to get into to shape and to learn a form of self defense. Of course if one would want to learn this art, he has to first take up some boxing classes north London in order to perfect the art. If one is curious about what he will be learning, here is an idea of the things that will transpire there.
Of course in any sport, there are certain exercises that one would have to do in order to tone up the body and condition it for the workout. Now in boxing, one will be doing a lot of strength and muscle training like pull ups, weights, and others things that would build muscle mass. Of course he would also do a lot of cardio exercises too like running and jump rope so that he will have more powerful lungs.
After learning the body conditioning exercises, then the next thing that he will learn would be the proper fighting stance. Now if one is right handed, then he will assume a side ward stance with his left foot and left arm forward. His body will face the right side and his right hand is tucked right under his chin.
Now when one is learning boxing, the first punch that he will tackle would be the jab. In order to do the job, one would have to use his front hand to land a light punch to the face of the opponent. This punch is often used to cover distance and surprise the enemy for a second attack.
The next punch that one will be learning would then be the cross. The cross is a punch that would come from the hind hand and is often used in a combination right after the jab. So the most basic combination of a boxer would be first a jab from the leading hand then a big cross from the hand that is at the back.
Once one has already perfected the cross, now would be to time to learn the uppercut. For those who do not know, the uppercut is a punch that would project upwards from the ground aiming for the chin of the opponent. Now if one would want to do this move, he has to bend his legs a little and then deliver a blow from the ground.
Now the punch that is used in order to deliver a big knockout would of course be the hook. The hook is a punch that would come from the hind hand and would usually come after a jab. This is a swinging punch that would use the full rotational force of the entire body in order to deal a lot of damage to the head.
Now these are the basic things that a beginner boxer would be learning in his first few days of classes. Now do remember that if one does not master these basic moves, he will not be able to move on to more advanced ones. So one has to perfect all of these if he would want to move on to the next lessons.
