Turn Trash To Treasure With Garden Junk Crafts

By Linda Ruiz

Do you like to express your creative side? Would you like to be able to start on fun new projects that will not cost a fortune? If you have just answered yes, you will love garden junk crafts.

A lot of people haven't heard of this kind of crafting, but once you get into it you will love it. To make items for the garden just use anything that you would class as junk. So get the family together and start making decorative or functional pieces that you can use outside.

To start with you will need to start collecting things that you can use in your crafting. Keep hold of old plates, cups, containers and anything else that you can turn into something eye catching and interesting. The sky is the limit when you are creating, so save anything that you think might come in useful. Remember that anything you use should be waterproof as it will be outside all year round.

Next you should get inspiration about what you can make. One of the most popular types of projects is to create planters from the items that you have saved. Or you might want to smash up old crockery to create an easy mosaic effect that you can put onto plant pots and other items.

When you get started you should have all of the things you will need in one place. So try to have paints, string, glue, scissors, paint brushes and so on as you will be using these in your projects. Don't worry if you have everything you need, as you get into your new hobby you will naturally build up your own supplies.

You might have an old headboard made from metal. If so you can make this into a fantastic trellis for any plants you have that climb. So instead of having the usual canes to hold your plants up use something much more interesting.

You might want to bring an artistic touch to your outdoor space. If this is the case why not create your own sculptures? Let your imagination run wild and make hanging decorations from strips of metal that are stuck together. Or why not take old glass jars and hang them from a broom handle, insert candles and you have a string of nightlights.

Large old metal tubs are perfect for using as large planters that can be moved around. Or you can turn them into stunning water features and paint the outside of them to change their appearance. Some people will also use bowling balls that have been sprayed to look like those spherical sculptures that cost a fortune.

These are just a few of the hundreds of ideas that you can use in your own garden. Creating interesting things for your home is a great way to spend your spare time. Not only that but as you will be recycling items to use in your crafting you will also be helping the environment.
