The Changing Face Of Christ Faith Evangelical Church

By Sharon White

The people of Homa Bay have been hearing the voice of God through a special messenger. This messenger is Pastor David Oloo who ministers at what was previously referred to as Christ Faith Evangelical Church. This shelter of the Lord has now been named Good Shepherd House of Worship. The change is prompted by a message from God.

In 2010, the church building had its foundations laid on Asego Hills in the western regions of Kenya at a place called Homa Bay. The structure stood on a plot of land whose size is approximately 50ft by 100ft. The support of an American Christian who dedicated profit from his business to the project was crucial in its completion. The member took the project as a way to thank God for enabling him to prosper in business. It was his own unique way of bringing Christ closer to people.

In 2011, a chapel with the capacity to hold over 600 people was completed. The sponsor from US was thankful because God provided him with substantial sales that enabled him to fulfill his promise to the people of Homa Bay. To the well wisher, God was fulfilling his promise through a thriving business that could support missionary work in Africa.

The idea of building a church was to provide a decent place of worship for the faithful. The Lord did not reveal that name during the foundation phase. It has taken five years to the shepherds to realize the name that suits the place best. The new name is Good Shepherd House of Worship. The people worshiping in the church have received the name positively and are positive about what the Lord is doing in their lives.

Pastor Oloo is the current leader of the ministry having taken over from his father Bishop Nashon. He has served the evangelical church for years, rising to become a Senior Pastor. The youthful pastor has dedicated his life to ministry work and steering it into the new and promising future.

The ministry also runs an orphanage that takes in children whose parents have passed on due to the ravages of AIDS. This home has been serving the community for years now. It was founded upon realization that the extended families that would have adopted these children were too poverty stricken to shoulder an extra burden. The shepherds in the ministry took up the responsibility.

The orphanage started as a small family whose needs were easy to meet. There is now need for more than food, shelter and clothing. The older children have joined vocational training institutions and require facilitation. This has stretched the resources available to the pastor and his ministry in general.

A lot of children and families have found hope and refuge at The Homa Bay Orphans Life Resurrection Center. They consider this home as a well from where they get spiritual nourishment. It has taken the support of well wishers to get to where they are. The support has been in form of cash and kind and is transforming their lives. Other duties performed by the ministry include outreach to neighboring villages through crusades which continue to transform souls.
