Valuable Perspectives Of Tempe Liberal Church

By Linda Kennedy

In the modern world, science and technology have taken full effect of events bringing a recognizable gap between scholar and theologians in matters concerning the faith. There have been attempts to harmonize the differences, but eventually, conservatives remain adamant to compromise on certain issue thereby widening the rift. Below are some valuable perspectives of Tempe liberal church.

The argument based religion authority seen as the main concerns of various faith groups in society today. The stand of this group or rather liberal church accepts the contributions of modern science on the human in what is called social science and modern knowledge and experiences. They claim this faith should be open-minded and allow logical reasoning on interpretations of various issues.

The next thing is about the New Jerusalem or the world to come. They discourage laxity in Christians to keep waiting for that new world without being responsible for improving their own lives. They encourage members to participate in various categories of human life and contribute accordingly to elect new leadership and other factors affecting their life rather than neglecting the current affairs.

It is also their pillar that the religion should be credible and relevant to the modern social setup. It is open to modern judgments based on intellectual in connection with inquiries about nature and even on perspectives given by modern social science. It promotes the need for an ethical way of life and supports the moral concept of atonement. It is to make the gospel relevant to modern society.

They also divert the thought that only particular ways of truths are the sole truth, especially where presented in certain forms and symbols. They advocate for changes that will lead to more reasonable interpretation rather than symbolic or analogy that was presented by predecessors and made like the truth itself. They discourage adoration of symbols and forms as the real truths.

It is also their explanation that the current differences on various issues on fundamental faith beliefs could be a product of interpretation and language barriers. They believe there is one fundamental thing that is faith or belief, but the presentation is marred with ambiguities that yield grounds for disagreements. The main concern is the central belief but also believe that language is the main course of disagreements.

Another notable thing is the issue of bible story accuracies and presentation of facts. They argue that the main thing is the teaching not how historically the stories may be aligned and facts presented. The emphasis is on what is taught in the gospels about Christ but not what format they are presented in or rather chronology in various books of the gospel.

The true religion is one that focuses on the way of Christ not on doctrines about Christ. By this, they mean that Christianity is a faith, not a doctrine that is set to interpret the existence of supernatural beings and such related thoughts. It is in accordance with thought that this religion is best seen as a way of Christ not what entails about him.
