Ya wanna have power! Ya wanna be able to hit some fool so hard he sleeps till Sunday! Ya wanna have muscles bigger than a 747 on nitro!
And what this really means is that you are caught by the mystery of power. To understand power we're going to have to define and understand a couple of very important words. But it's a promise, when you understand these words you will know what power really is, and how to make it.
To have power is to be able to control something. You might be able to destroy something, but that's not power except of the most limited kind. To really understand power, we're going to need to understand energy.
Energy is the amount work you can do, it is your capacity for work. Energy being work, that makes power just domination. Having the feeling of energy in your body may actually be what you are really seeking.
Work can be measured by how much weight you can move. Move a lot of weight and you use a lot of energy, but the problem is you get tired. Hmmmm.
Okay, how about if you could store your work. You could increase the amount of weight you're able to lift, which increases your output of energy, which increases the bulk and density of your muscles. Double hmm.
Okay, that's all fine and good, but if you want to narrow in on how to store energy exactly for the martial arts, how about if you do body weight exercises such as forms and various drills? Muscles get faster, denser, and everything is looking good. But, here's the real trick, the more the more energy you feel in your body, the more of these exercises you do, and the more power you will have.
Wowzer dowzer, I think we're on to it, to work out so that you don't become fatigued, but rather gain and hold excessive amounts of energy. This is the meaning you must realize if you are going to have oodles of energy and make the martial arts really work. That's the True Source of Power, you know, working to make it work by working!
