The Magnetic Lock System

Many people are not really sure what magnetic locks are. Well, a magnetic lock is a lock that is equipped with electromagnets and armature plates. Magnetic locks are more expensive than regular locks. A good magnetic lock can cost you as much as three hundred dollars. Some are even more expensive. A good conventional lock will cost you about forty dollars. It is possible for a magnetic lock to be wired into your existing electric system. This will cost you money on your electric bill.

Magnetic locks provide a number of great advantages that are not provided by conventional locks. Conventional locks can be picked by anyone with enough knowledge to do so. Magnetic locks are pick proof since they operate using electricity. Magnetic locks use a number of different coding mechanisms to secure access to a particular room. A magnetic lock will operate on twenty four to twelve volts of DC current. Some of these locks run off of batteries. Others can be connected to your electricity system.

There are a number of maintenance tasks that need to be performed by people who have magnetic locks installed in their homes, offices, or businesses. Magnetic locks can be extremely safe and secure as long as they are cared for properly. Magnetic locks are fail safe meaning that if they lose their power source then they will automatically unlock. These locks need to be connect to a constant power source in order for them to stay locks. Be sure to check the quality of the batteries ever so often.

There are many different types of magnetic locks. Each magnetic lock will have a pull pound number. Magnetic locks with a specific pull pound number are more suitable for certain situations. Lets say you purchase a magnetic lock that has a three hundred pull pound. You should use that lock to secure a cabinet or something else lightweight. If you want to be able to control access to a room that has a lot of traffic then you will at least need a magnetic lock with a twelve hundred pull pound.

Magnetic locks provide a number of advantages. Conventional locks have interconnecting parts. Magnetic locks do not have any interconnecting parts. Since the magnetic lock does not have any interconnecting parts it is much easier to install than a conventional lock. Magnetic locks are also much more durable than conventional locks for the very same reason. Conventional locks tend to break down much faster than magnetic locks. This is why it is a good idea to use magnetic locks in high traffic access control areas.

Magnetic locks are installed inside the door frame to make sure that tampering with the lock is almost impossible. You need to be extremely careful during the installation process to ensure that the armature plate and the electromagnet are as closely aligned as possible to ensure efficient operation. You should take your time when install your magnetic locks to make sure that it is installed in a way that it will work effective and efficiently.

The main advantage of magnetic locks is their ability to be used as a part of an entire electronic security system. Many times a magnetic lock will be attached to a keycard reader. It is also possible for a magnetic lock to be hooked up to a computer that monitors an entire buildings security. The locking mechanism can then be controlled by anyone with access to the computer. From there you can lock and unlock the doors.
