Tips For Learning Karate At Home

Contrary to popular belief, you can actually learn karate from home. As a popular form of martial arts, it pays well when you know how to defend yourself in critical situations. Karate is a product of thousands of years of evolution. As long as you have the passion for it, you can easily learn karate from home. Here are the basic tips to help you do it.

Tip #1: Start with a Good Warm-up

If you want to learn karate from home, you must begin with a good warm up exercise. The stretching prepares your muscles to the pressure that you will encounter later on. Warm up sessions include a full body stretch starting from the head down to your toes. Do this for 5 to 15 minutes. Never begin your actual training unless you do the warm up exercise. Otherwise, unprepared muscles may lead to injuries.

Tip #2: Practice Makes Perfect

The different karate moves like blocking, punching, kicking and a combination of all of these. The movements require careful execution. Thus, you need to see the actual techniques performed by an expert. During this stage, you can enroll in a beginner's lesson or get a video to learn karate from home. Practice the dachi, kihon and kumite. Feel each movement as you kick, punch, jump and spin. The time you need to master the skill depends on your dedication to practice. With perseverance, you can improve your movements in no time.

Tip #3: Get a Training Plan

After you learn karate from home, your next goal is to improve your rank. In order to achieve this, you must have a plan. Decide on the frequency of karate class and your additional practice at home. Twice a week of class is sufficient. Do not make it an everyday routine as the chances of burn out are very high. When you make your schedule, choose the time where you have the least interruption and when you can focus the most.

Tip #4: Train with a Friend

It is quite difficult to achieve your goal and learn karate from home on your own. If possible, do it with a friend. The companionship will keep you motivated. You can also serve as the trainer and watcher and give objective feedback about the training.

These tips are only helpful if you have the right motivation. Without the enthusiasm for the sports, even when you have the best tips and trainer, it would still be very difficult learn karate from home.
