How Janitorial Supply Distributors Help You Save Time And Embarrassment

By Leslie Ball

All of the materials needed, for a cleaning business or a facility managers cleaning crew, must be found somewhere. The appropriate stuff can not be adequately addressed by going to a grocery store or hardware shop. The right kind of tools, chemicals and cloths must be purchased from one of the local janitorial supply distributors.

When your are starting your own cleaning business, you may be confused about all of the many different things available to you. You have been told, by others, what you absolutely should have, but this is more confusing because sometimes it does not make sense. Go into one of these distributor stores and you can, immediately, be set at ease. The employees, here, will help you understand what is what and what is actually needed, based on the tasks or industry you are cleaning.

The basic stuff, such as cloths and dusters are available and on display. You will be able to compare the traditional terry cloth towels with the newer micro fiber and other engineered fabrics. Just getting a feel of these and talking with employees and other clients will help you know which is best for each situation you have.

All of those chemicals can make you scratch your head. You will want to have enough of the right ones to do the job, but you do not want those that do not work as advertised. You want to reduce your costs as much as possible by using multiple purpose cleaners, but not at the cost of effective sanitation. Having a talk with the personnel, or even some of the customers standing there, will assist you in knowing which are no good and which ones you should get.

All of the small tools, such as putty knives, brushes of various types, sizes and shapes and buckets that are clearly designed for something other that a standard mop, need an explanation. This can easily be obtained from the employees or some of the clients standing around the lobby. A simple squeegee may actually look ominous if looked at one way.

All of the very necessary floor machines will be there, as well. If you are working on any floor maintenance, including simply vacuuming, you will need a few of these machines. Scrubbers, buffers, grout machines, as well as that vacuum must be looked into. They will be there for your inspection and information about their capabilities, as well as all of their accessories will also be examined.

The best things about going into one of these locations is the help, information and a learning experience. This can come from the employees who are paid to be there and also from customers who like to share what they know. They will help you understand how to use some products and make recommendations about other things that might just work better.

Saving time is something on every ones list of activities. The embarrassment you can save by always having the correct tools, supplies and knowledge to perform your tasks is a nice feeling too. These are what these stores help you with whenever you come in with a problem or a question. You may, also, share a cup of coffee and some popcorn if the machine is running.
