When Following Our Dreams

By Evan Sanders

"The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt." Sylvia Plath

It's when we start to question ourselves in our ability to achieve our dreams that everything begins to call apart. That's a pretty significant statement, but if we are honest with ourselves we know that the seeping in of doubt and fear has the ability to paralyze us completely.

If we take it a step further, when we actually do start to get close to achieving our dreams and head out onto the play field where there is much more competition, and hesitation and doubt will cause you to land flat on your but.

Dreams are going to take everything you've got. Dreams are going to demand your attention, your care, your time, your patience and everything else in the book. They are going to need you to be on top of your game every single day and take no days off. When you decide to slack on your dreams, you really have no idea how long you've set yourself back.

If you ever really listen to someone talking about their dreams who truly believes in themselves, you get this body sense that's hard to explain. You know that despite the fact that they don't have it all figured out, they will somehow achieve it.

However, when you hear someone whose dreams are living in a world of doubt, you can tell almost right away. Of course you aren't rooting against them, but you know damn well that if they don't believe that it's going to happen it most certainly won't. Dreams function on belief, and without it they won't thrive.

Devote your life to what is possible for you. Devote your life to your dreams. Without your dreams, you are just functioning in a place of being comfortable. That's a nice place, but nothing really grows there.

Just do it. Give it a shot.
