Tips To Minimize Cramming Prior To An Examination

By Silas D. Schaefer

The best way to prepare for an exam is to study. Sometimes we forget that we have an exam the next day and we spend that day going out with friends only to find out that you are just a few hours away from taking that dreadful exam that could mean life and death to your college life. Here are some tips to guide you.

Always be prepared. As a student you need to do your responsibilities to learn and to know when your exams will happen and when you need to study for them. If you really want to learn and to study then you need to do it responsibly.

Taking down notes during classes can also be a good way for you to study. Jot down notes using your own words so that by the time you review them you do not have to reach for your books to decipher them out of their meaning.

Remove all the things that take the attention out of your studies. If you are infront of the computer, then disconnect your PC from the modem so that you will not be tempted by the internet.

Take a break once in a while or your brain will get burnt out. The faster your brain gets burned out, the less you'll retain information. Try to give yourself time to breathe fresh air out of your room.

Plan out your study hours properly to maximize your learning. Schedule them when you have a lot of free time rather than squeeze them in between classes as you tend to forget them once another set of information is input inside your brain during a class.

Discuss amongst your friends and classmates what you have learned to get some information from them too. Do some brainstorming together with your friends so that you will have some idea on the subject and clear up any topic that has confused you.

Never study when you feel you are sleepy or your body is too tired to properly focus. Always give yourself time to take care of yourself as it would all go to waste if you end up getting sick on the day you are supposed to take the exam. Keeping your body healthy is just as important as trying to fill it with a ton of information all at once.
