Preparation Tips For Students Prior To A Test

By Mary A. Paris

A lot of people say studying is the hardest part of being a student. Exams and quizzes are a lot for students to handle. The more exams a student take the more it will be hard for students to pass. This is where studying habits differ from student to student. All it takes is diligence and the right attitude towards studying that makes a good student. Here is how you can study effectively and efficiently.

Always study when you are at your sharpest time of the day. If you are a morning person then study in the morning when you wake up or at least have had your breakfast. If you are able to concentrate more during mid-day then do study during the mid-day.

In studying, there are certain aspects that need for you to get by. One such is comfort. Always choose the right chair and the right table. An uncomfortable chair will distract you from your learning process.

While you are busy jotting down notes for you to study, keep everything that is not connected to your studies away from the table. They will only distract you from studying and would most likely cause you to skip studying and straight to leisure.

Have a snack with you while you are studying. It will help you sustain that energy and while you are at it, take a break once in a while to keep your mind from having information overload. It will do much more than just feed your hunger cravings.

The best time to study and review is right after each discussion since everything will be fresh in your mind to start with. Review your notes and see what you have learned from that class at the very moment it was taking place. You can then ask your teacher or professor for some clarifications. If you have classmates who have the same technique as you have, you can brainstorm and have a discussion yourselves.

The beginning and the end of each discussion is best remembered which is why you need to focus on what is being discussed in the middle. The middle portion of each discussion is the hardest to remember and most likely the core of the subject as well as the key point to every exam. Learn to focus your energy on the middle.

As much as you would like to continue studying, the moment you begin to feel tired and sleepy should be your alarm to stop and rest. If you continue on studying even if your mind wants to rest, all would be pointless since your mind cannot remember anything beyond that.
