People want different things from this, some want to just do something about lowering their current electricity bills so they want to change a few light bulbs or get caulking to minimize the wind draft. If you are one of those who want more, then you will have to change your lifestyle to go totally green so as to generate renewable energy.

2. Draw out a budget. The eco-friendly alternatives might prove a little more pricey but you will just have to do it for there is no way around this. That is why setting up a monthly or annual budget and sticking to it is very important. It will help you to save money and not to overspend.

3. A savings account - This is necessary if you want to see the returns for your efforts of going green. As you start seeing some savings, put it into a safe place, preferably a savings account and use it only on a rainy day, to buy some planned for item or put it back into expanding your green project.

4. Involve your family. Cutting back energy costs and fossil energy consumption might prove tricky if you choose not to involve your family. That is why you need to speak to them otherwise going it alone might get you very exhausted before too long.

Bringing the whole family on board will encourage you and will be beneficial for the whole family.
