Are You Overweight

Yesterday I was discussing the current political scenario with some business partners. These guys are both astute and very funny, and we had plenty of fun talking about the so-called "stimulus" bill. Just about nothing they said can be repeated here, but maybe you'll hear them on the radio some day - unless the "Fairness Doctrine" stops them.

So the question I have for you is: Are you over weight? Or as Artie Lange would ask, "Too Fat To Fish?"

There's no need to go over the medical specifics, because it's just common sense. People know when they're hefting around too much flab. I know it, and my friends all seem to know it too from talking to them.

The signs are always there.

It takes more than a second to button up the pants.

Shirt collars tightening up.

You start altering your golf swing.

You start going back to the buffet a third time.

You're winded after three flights of stairs.

The signs are there. Like arms jiggling when you come to a stop.

We all know, and we all need to start getting leaner. The way to get there is by doing a little planning.

First on the plan is to get on pharmaceutical grade fish oil and stay on it. Which is easy, a couple capsules a couple times per day.

Practicing the art of graciousness is powerful in your life. Focusing on the things you have keeps your mind off of what you don't have in your life. When things go wrong, it's hard to stay focused on those things. But, you can still live graciously.

Why Gratitude is Important

Developing a gracious attitude will change your perspective on your life and life in general. Gracious people:

Look to others, and their faults and mistakes as blessings. Blaming no longer exists. Rather than to look at what you lost or what you don't have, you simply look at what you do have and go from there.

View others with an open heart rather than a closed heart. This means that you feel compassion for others regardless of whether you have anything in common with them or not. A life filled with compassion is a happy and abundant life.

Forget about judging others. We all have faults and make mistakes from time to time. Acknowledging that fact helps other people to put their faults in perspective and play to their strengths.

Feel merciful towards others who are not in their best place or have not reached a place where they can look at the world from a place of gratitude.

Live your life looking at what you have rather than what you don't. As you begin to become aware of what is good and positive in your life, what is good and positive will grow. Why? We attract what we pay attention to, what we focus on. When you're focused on what is good in your life, more good will show up.

Use a journal to record the things in your life that you are grateful for. Identifying your blessings makes you aware of them. Practice. Being grateful and inviting gratitude abundance into your life isn't an overnight experience. You don't go to bed one night with the burdens of the world on your shoulders and awake the next day feeling light as a feather with no cares in the world. Gratitude, takes practice.

Use gratitude in your everyday life. Some people develop rituals to make it easier to develop a gracious spirit. Mind Power For Burning Fat

When I was in school, I worked out a couple times per week with a friend. Once, another friend named Jason joined us. And I do emphasize ONCE.

"I can't stay motivated," Jason said. "I can't workout unless I listen to the soundtrack from Rocky."

It was funny to hear. But then I started thinking to myself: So what?

If he needed to hear a certain kind of music in order to workout, then why not just do that?

If it works, do it.

I exercise in the morning. And I think it's great for others to do the same. But if you find the afternoon or evenings are better for you, go with that.

You might want to eat a little before working out. Or maybe you prefer an empty stomach - I know I usually do.

I also can't stand a cold gym. Others love it. I like to wear heavier clothes when I workout, some prefer as little as possible.

The key point here is to stop thinking, I can only do such and such in a BAD way. Whatever conditions allow for you to succeed " make sure you follow them. If you need air conditioning, loud music, and heavy sweat pants to get a great workout at night, do that every time. If you prefer to sweat in lycra with dead silence in the morning air, stick to that.
