What You Should Know About Electric Airsoft Guns

By Anthony Carter

With so many different designs available on the market today, it can be frustrating finding the right airsoft gun for your needs; so if you're interested in purchasing one, it could save you a lot of time and frustration to narrow down your search to electric airsoft guns. There is still a wide enough variety of these types in terms of shooting accuracy and power (and price) that you're bound to find the right one. Also, the option to choose between semi and fully automatic models provides you with a comprehensive selection of submachine guns, assault rifles, and pistols. The types of activities for which you plan to use an airsoft gun should establish the type of electric airsoft gun you need.

There are so many things to keep in mind when looking to buy an electric airsoft gun. In order to make sure you get the one that is best for you, consider things like the required upkeep, various functions, the FPS and RPM, and other such specs.

For instance, more quality guns with high precision are used by those who participate frequently in airsoft games whereas those who use airsoft guns to occasionally shoot cans in their backyard can settle for a more inexpensive spring rifle or pistol.

It doesn't matter if you're simply shooting targets or if you participate in military simulation games or skirmishing; the type of electric airsoft gun you purchase can and will affect your shooting performance, so it is absolutely necessary to pay attention to what each type of gun is primarily used for before making any final decisions.

Whether it's an electric airsoft rifle or electric pistol, the instantaneous firing response of electric airsoft guns provides a huge advantage for simulation games. In addition, these electric types come with battery powered motors and boast high capacity magazines.

Low powered electric guns (LPEGs), Middle powered electric guns (MPEGs), and Automatic electric guns (AEGs) are the three main categories for electric airsoft rifles. Beginners can make great use of LPEGs as they are full sized rifles but have plastic gearboxes which use less power than metal ones. MPEGs do have the more powerful metal gearbox and do not require batteries and a charger for continuous play like LPEGs do.

Those who have been working on their shooting skills would be most satisfied with the capabilities of an automatic electric rifle, which is a fully automatic electric machine gun boasting an all-metal body and gearbox. Experts are also partial to the wide range of electric pistols offering realistic designs and functions.

A general rule of thumb with airsoft guns is the higher the gun's quality is, the more expensive it will be. This is exactly the reason why it is never a wise idea to pick a gun solely on the price alone - you probably won't be able to use it for all its intended purposes. Instead, research what type of electric airsoft gun will benefit your needs most and then try to find the best priced product within that specified selection. This is a more cost effective route since the gun you choose will perform as expected.

Silva and St. Pierre Must Fight Each other

By Bruce Levins

A super fight is characterized as a fight between two of the best fighters in the world at that moment. Over the years MMA has seen Superfights between Dan Henderson and Wanderlei Silva, Bj Penn and Georges St-Pierre and Dan Henderson and Anderson Silva to name three. We all salivate every time a Superfight is brought up and why wouldn't we? Two of the best fighters battling it out to see whose better. That's just good television.

Looking at the current state of the UFC, middleweight and welterweight champs Anderson Silva and Georges St. Pierre have both defeated all of their recent competition with relative ease, leaving many fans to ponder how they can do something interesting from here.

Next on the list of St. Pierre's opponents will be the winner of Martin Kampman and Mike Swick at the UFC 103 event. After seeing the way St. Pierre destroyed a tougher opponent in Thiago Alves, it's hard to believe that either Kampman or Swick will have a shot at beating St. Pierre, leaving many wondering where he'll go from there.

And how about Anderson Silva? What's next on his list? With an easy win against Forrest Griffin, thought by many to be his toughest competitor, it doesn't seem like Silva has much to prove at this point either. No one else in the weight class seems to compete at the level of Griffin.

Next on Silva's list is Dan Henderson, who earned a shot for the title against Silva after defeating Britain's best, Michael Bisbing. Still, no one sees this as a fight to take too seriously and fans and experts alike predict an easy win for Silva. What's left for Silva to prove now?

Despite the fact that Silva can roll with the best in his class, he still isn't willing to move up to the light heavyweight division and accept a fight with its champ, Lyoto Machida. Silva and Machida are great friends and he'd prefer not to fight such a close friend.

So then what do we have here? We have two dominant champions in Georges "Rush" St-Pierre and Anderson "The Spider" Silva. Both men have upcoming bouts that make sense to their respective divisions. These two are expected to defeat the upcoming opponents and have the ability to do so in a one sided manner. After these fights have come and gone wouldn't it be incredible to see them starring across the octagon at each other.

As for who would come out on top, well, that's the beauty of a fight like this. No one really knows. It's been a while since we've seen a super fight, and I think the UFC is due.

What All Owners Of Airsoft Guns Should Know

By Anthony Carter

If you are into combat games, surely you've heard of airsoft guns. With these play guns you can pretend you are involved in skirmishes without the dangers of a real gun. All the same, even if these are not real guns, rules regarding their usage should be strictly adhered to. Furthermore, all owners of such guns must be attentive to their responsibilities.

As an airsoft gun owner you have the responsibility of disclosing its utility to all who know nothing about it. There is still much arguing going on regarding make-believe combat games and which guns to be used. This may be due to the fact of people not knowing what is like to hold a gun in one's hand or roleplay in a war game. Often, such people have the false notion that airsoft gun owners only want to threaten or disturb others.

Inform people by giving them your reasons for playing this type of game. Also, give them details on how the game is played. Make sure to emphasize the fact that combat play is a game that follows some very strict rules, also that no physical contact is allowed. When they will see just how great these games may be, they will end up also wanting to join the game.

And then, you should not forget to call attention to the ways an airsoft gun is different from a standard gun. The airsoft guns are still not seen with good eyes by many, the big reason being the notion that they are not safe. Although this is true, nevertheless it is also true for BB and paintball guns if not manipulated the way they are meant to be. Hence, if handled in the proper manner, they are just as safe as any other simulation weapons.

One of the main differences between the airsoft gun and a standard gun is the ammunition. The airsoft gun uses pellets that are small and fire at lower speeds. Also, whenever in combat play, participants are always protected by wearing proper gear. People must be assured that you will use your gun only for play or target shooting in a controlled environment.

Being an airsoft gun owner, you also have the obligation of treating your gun with respect. This implies that you store your gun just like any other standard gun. Keep your gun off limits from small children. It may not kill but can seriously injure when not properly manipulated by a child. Don't forget to unload it when you store it.

Remember at all times that an airsoft gun is similar looking to a real gun, therefore should be treated as such. Never leave your gun in display on you or in your vehicle. This type of behavior will only get you into trouble with the law and have people be afraid of you.

Although the airsoft gun may be mistaken for a real gun, there is one thing that clearly identifies it as a combat game gun, which is the orange marker, placed at its tip. Precisely for this reason, the marker should never be removed. It is against the law to do so.

Consequently, don't forget that airsoft guns are simulation guns to be used for recreational purposes only. Hold your gun in esteem while respecting others.

AirSoft Guns For Wonderful Fun Activities

By Anthony Carter

Individuals having sufficient excellence in online shooting games can make use of the airsoft guns for attending events such as shooting competitions and games to have the required amount of fun. The main use of the airsoft guns is in shooting events where the shooting activity is done in a safe manner such that it avoids causing any sort of physical harm to others. The guns have a non-lethal nature and are very close in design to the original. The only difference is the size, as the airsoft guns are smaller than the original firearms.

These guns were first created in Japan for providing a non-lethal firearm to the passionate gun users and the bullets used in the guns were plastic pellets. These guns were used for events like shooting competitions and games. The sources of energy used to power these airsoft guns were electricity, gas, and springs. The first of these guns were powered by the spring option.

In spite of the fact that the guns are of non-lethal nature there are certain laws in some countries regarding the possession and usage of these guns. However, majority of the countries do not have any kind of laws for the usage and possession of the airsoft guns. These guns are issued to all individuals who satisfy the age requirement. Only important thing regarding usage of these guns is to follow the safety guidelines.

To have maximum fun while using airsoft guns, it is necessary that the individuals get hold of all the gun accessories to make the event more exciting. Some of the accessories, which can add the required amount of excitement, include helmets, goggles, weapon enhancement items, and war uniforms.

These guns provide the users with the best shooting experience. The whole event comes alive when the individuals use the guns and the associated accessories for the event. Since the package for the gun contains everything, the individuals can fit the accessories quickly and go for the shooting session.

There are many different shooting sights to allow users to have fun using the airsoft guns. During the events, the individuals can plan strategy, hide, dodge bullets, run, and take part in the assault activities as well. The combination of team and individual events makes it a great proposition for everyone.

Just having reckless fun is not recommended while using the airsoft guns; the individuals should try to put maximum importance on the safety norms. If the gun is loaded then it must be handled with maximum care. Only targets that have been officially setup should be shot at. The individuals should avoid shooting at unofficial targets as that may cause physical harm like damage to teeth and eyes of others.

The airsoft guns look like the original gun when seen from a distance. Therefore, it is important not to brandish these guns in the public places as that may create panic. Having fun using the airsoft guns should be in a controlled manner. Children should not be allowed to use these guns as they may risk facing suspension from school. There can be chances of unwanted injuries or accidents in public places if the guns are handled by the children without adult supervision.

Massage Chairs Contain Effective Acupressure Massage Therapy

By Mike Brewster

Many traditional forms of medicine are only now starting to be empirically validated by Western Science. Now many of the Eastern forms of healing are starting to go more mainstream in the health care industry. Take acupressure which derived from acupuncture. Acupressure uses the application of firm pressure to help manipulate the energy flow in the body. Now massage chair recliners have built technologies that integrated the use of acupressure.

Acupressure massage is based on sets of meridian lines that run through the body. These meridian lines have certain junctions called trigger points. The trigger points can enhance or hinder the energy flow in the body. Acupressure utilizes certain methods to stimulate these trigger points to control and regulate the energy flow in the body. There are a number of definitive techniques that help to control the energy flow and to restore balance back to the body.

What Makes Stage Hypnosis Powerful?

By Marcus Cruz

Did you know that most clinical hypnotist do not approve of stage hypnosis?

It's true, and part of the reason why this is true is because stage hypnosis doesn't do one bit of good outside of the concept of entertainment...and is stage hypnosis really real? I mean does is it even an authentic form of hypnosis or are there just a bunch of pre-selected actors that are out there waiting to be called on stage by the stage hypnotist?

Anyway, whether or not Stage Hypnosis is real is only the tip of the ice-berg, because every time you watch a stage hypnosis show, you will notice that a bunch of volunteers are the ones who are hypnotized. So, the process of Stage Hypnosis is a voluntary process.

So, if Stage Hypnosis is a voluntary process, then it is impossible for stage hypnosis to have anything to do with persuasion, seduction, or mind control, because mind control does not involve people volunteering to have their minds controlled!

This means that you couldn't use stage hypnosis to persuade your boss to give you a raise or to get someone of the opposite sex to become attracted to you through the use of stage hypnosis. Why? Because you can't expect people to "volunteer" for those types of things. The Art of Persuasion is far deeper than hoping that someone will volunteer to do your will.

OK so let's ask a million dollar question: How is it that Stage Hypnotist are out there promising you the secrets of mind control through their so called "secrets". Let's ask an even better question: Why do people believe these lies?

The basic answer to these questions revolve around the reputation that Stage Hypnosis has built up for itself in books and movies. Keep in mind that stage hypnosis is only a show...it's just a form of entertainment, and because it's a form of entertainment that we've all seen in movies, it can project a false reality of what it truly is.

Anyway, after the show is over, it's time to return to reality.

Making Sure You Get The Right Airsoft Guns

By Anthony Carter

For a fun and safe option to real guns, you should try out airsoft guns, which shoot pellets as opposed to bullets. First, though, you need to become acquainted with what's actually available here to keep from becoming overwhelmed. Here, you'll find some information that will help you through the basic gun buying points when it comes to guns and pellets.

The two basic types are target guns and hunting guns. Target guns are used to hit things that may be quite small and so they must have the highest accuracy you can find. In the case of hunting guns, accuracy is still important, though slightly less so, as the main goal with them is to be able to hit and kill something. As such, the energy with which pellets are shot out becomes the more important issue.

You might be interested in pre-charged guns, as these allow you to shoot constantly without having to re-cock. Whichever you get, though, it's important that you have the right pellets as you shoot. This means paying attention to the caliber and finding out which is the best for you. Sometimes you'll even need to use several calibers together.

Many people are looking for their pellets to be as fast as possible, and so they need to know what to shop for. Large pellets are heavy and get caught against the wind, so look for small and light ones. There are all sorts of brands of pellets that come with many different qualities. Find the ones that are intended for what you actually want to do.

As already mentioned, accuracy is key when you're going to be shooting at targets with your airsoft guns. Because of this, you need to know what's going to make sure pellets go right where you send them. The first issue here, on the pellet itself, has to do with the surface of the crown or barrel lip, which shouldn't allow for any wobble whatsoever.

A pellet's spinning is here referred to as uniformity because it must spin with perfect balance. Even being slightly off center can completely ruin your game. Finally, you're going to need to pay attention to the wind before you start shooting, especially if you're using light pellets, as these can get blown away, or at least in another direction with ease.

Think about what you plan to do most with the gun. If you think you'll be doing a fairly even mix of both hunting and target practice, it might even be a good idea to get two different models. Whatever you decide, you want to make sure the gun is a good one, whether that means asking others for advice or trying out guns yourself in practice.

If you do have a chance to practice with different airsoft guns, you might try shooting into a bar of soap as an easy way to see what will happen with them. This is also helpful for picking the best pellets. Once you get the best combination, you'll have a great final product that will be effective in whatever you want to do with it, and that will last a long time.

The Differences between the Two Kinds of Punches

By Al Case

When learning the martial arts, especially if you want to be effective, you need to learn the gains and limitations of the two kinds of punches. Knowing these punches will proscribe and dictate your combat strategy. Knowing these punches will effect your training and enlighten you as as a Martial Artist.

The first punch is a thrusting punch. To do a thrusting punch imagine a train running into something and not stopping. Simply, it hits, and there is no back off, and the punch goes through.

Now, the problem with the thrusting punch is...what happens to all the cars behind the train? They all collide, stack up, and become a mess. Thus, a thrusting punch, while in theory the unstoppable force, does risk becoming a mess.

A thrusting punch, once delivered, is now entangled. The body behind the punch, unless the legs have done their job and moved the whole body forward, risks becoming unbalanced. Thrust, and you are forced to commit, and possibly overcommit, your body to the action.

A snapping punch is the second punch. Imagine a jackhammer striking, but only impacting once. It hits, does its damage, and backs off.

Now, the problem with the snapping punch is...not enough weight. The body doesn't have time to move into the action, and so does not commit weight to the punch. You retain balance while punching, but were you really effective?

Now, a thrusting punch is a strategy involving moving your body, using your entire weight, committing it to the action, and god help you if you miss because you're going to be out of place and unbalanced. The snapping punch is a strategy where you don't always do the damage you wish, but you have not risked a lot. The main point here is the fact of committing weight, the snapping punch gives less weight, but 95% of the weight will be left in the body of the opponent, a thrust punch commits weight, but takes fifty per cent of the shock back up the arm.

So we have to continuously ask ourselves which is better, the punch that thrusts or the punch that snaps. Each punch has must be gauged on a variety of merits, balance versus stability, weight versus speed, commitment versus noncommitment, weight left in the body versus weight backed up the arm, potential follow ups, positioning, and so on and so on. When you're done exploring all these possibilities, however, you're going to have a wallop that can't be denied.

UV Invisible Ink Pen Permanently Marks but Don't Deface

By Steve Thibeault

Crime is at an all-time high and it is a shame that you have to worry about somebody depriving you of all your hard earned belongings. It is not easy to find the resources necessary to buy valuable items these days, to worry about your keepsakes and things that have sentimental value. Security is a major concern always, but you need to know that there are now ways to enable you to sleep at night by identifying all your items.

If you are worried that some of your items may be stolen or otherwise misplaced somewhere amongst your daily travels, why not consider using a UV invisible ink pen? They do not cost a lot of money and can mark your property with a special identifying code. As the ink cannot be seen with the naked eye, you will not be defacing any valuable item.

If you are unfortunate enough to suffer a break-in to your home or to your car, you might find that valuable property has been stolen. If you have marked the property with the UV invisible ink pen you will have placed a permanent mark which is very easy to see when using an ultraviolet light.

The beauty of a UV invisible ink pen is that it can mark all types of surface, including paper, wood, glass, plastic and cloth. Being invisible to the naked eye, it doesn't matter where you mark the item as once you have done this, you do not need to worry about claiming your stolen or lost property.

Law enforcement officials and pawn shop operators alike are used to scanning valuable items with an ultraviolet light. For example, if you go to a pawn shop and present an item they will first look it over for markings that have been placed there with a UV invisible ink pen. You had better be able to identify those markings right away if they show up, as some kind of theft is apparent otherwise.

Your drivers license number is the most common way to mark your valuables when using a UV invisible ink pen. Attach the state abbreviation as well as the number and then police authorities anywhere will be able to get in touch with you should your item show up somewhere or be recovered from a thief.

All of your valuable items should be marked with the UV invisible ink pen as soon as you buy them. Don't put it off until later as you will likely forget, just mark them right then and there. Also, write down all the details including the date of purchase into a special log and keep this in a very safe place. To help you describe any lost or stolen items to the police, take some photographs as well.

There is no doubt that UV invisible ink pen markings are the best way to protect your most valuable items and assets. These pens are a great investment and make sure that you put them somewhere safe and don't need to go hunting around when your household gets a new arrival.

Finding The Best Fish Oil Supplements.

By Peter Bertonich

You've decided it's time to start taking Omega 3 supplements, but don't know how to find the best fish oil supplements.

I can understand that, it's confusing. There's so many Omega 3 capsules around, and they differ so much in price. More capsules in the bottle, less capsules. More expensive, less expensive.

But surely an Omega supplement is an Omega supplement, just choose the cheapest, don't you? Well no, actually there's way more to think of when trying to find the best fish oil capsules. Price is only a minor part of it.

Basically it boils down to 4 things. The amount of DHA in the supplements, the freshness of the oils used, the purity of the oil and it's effectiveness at combating inflammation. Lets look at these one by one.

1. The quantity of the DHA.

DHA is the primary fat in your brain, and the most important of the Omega 3 fatty acids to your health. Most fish oil supplements are 18/12, meaning that you get 18% DHA and 12% EPA, the second most important Omega 3 fat. So from a 1000 mg capsule you get 180 mg of DHA and 120 mg of EPA.

But how do you find out how much DHA is in your capsules? Read the label. If it's not listed on the label don't buy them because it isn't there for a reason. There isn't a lot, if there was they'd tell you.

2. Freshness of the oils.

Oils from fish can oxidize, or go rancid. Often when you take a capsule it "repeats" on you, via a burp, and it tastes "fishy". It shouldn't, this is not right and means that it's not fresh oil, and has gone off. Oxidized oil has free radicals in it, and these are bad for you, whereas you want a supplement that is good for you, not bad.

3. Purity of the fish oils used.

Our friends from the sea are contaminated with toxins that we, humans, have put in their ocean. It comes from the land via rivers, (and from oil rigs) and it contaminates the water they swim in. It ends up in their flesh, and the oil that comes from it.

There's a range of different standards internationally for the quality, or purity, of fish oil. None are binding. And there's different methods of decontaminating fish oil.

4. Effectiveness of the supplements.

Some fish oil supplements are more effective than other supplements. Inflammation is a big problem for many people, one of the reasons why aspirin is used so much. One of the major benefits of Omega 3 fish oils, well the best ones anyway, is that they work against inflammation way better than aspirin.

So there you have the 4 major things to consider when looking for the best fish oil supplements. More confused than ever? Sorry.

The good news is that there is a brand of Omega3 supplements that meet all of these criteria. They have 28% DHA and they use fish from the cleanest ocean there is, the southern ocean. They use molecular distillation to process it, the best purification method there is. And they get every batch of fish oil independently tested and publish the results on their website for everyone to see.

And tests have shown their Omega 3s to be up to 2 1/2 times more effective against inflammation than other fish oil supplements.

They aren't the cheapest, but then at 28% DHA you need less capsules anyway. Hopefully I've convinced you that price isn't the only consideration when it comes to buying Omega 3 fish oil capsules.

So now you know what things you need to look for when choosing the best fish oil supplements.

Or if you'd just prefer to find out which Omega 3 capsules meet all these requirements visit my website to find out.

What Propellants Are Used In Gas Airsoft Guns?

By Anthony Carter

Cost of operation, accuracy, and realism are among the countless reasons why gas airsoft guns are rapidly increasing in popularity across the country. Owning a gas airsoft gun involves selecting the appropriate propellant, whether it's 134A, green gas, or CO2 (which are the most frequently used). The correct use of propellant will ensure the best operation and maintenance of your gas airsoft gun.

The gas that the manufacturer recommends you use is not the only thing you should be looking at since there are other factors that affect an airsoft gun's performance that manufacturers can't control, such as temperature. If you live in a consistently hot climate such as the Arizona desert, the gas that should be used with your airsoft gun could actually be harmful to your gun because the heat is causing an enormous amount of pressure.

Cold climates can also influence the type of propellant you require for your gas airsoft gun. If you live in a consistently cold area, the gas that the manufacturer suggests you use may not work because the pressure inside the gun has gone too low to support the firing action. A case of reduced pressure can also cause the valve to stay open following fire, resulting in the loss of all the gas in the gun.

Using a propellant in a temperature that is too hot or too cold can cause damage to your airsoft gun so be wary of the temperature. Also, avoid using a gas that is more powerful than the gas the manufacturer originally intended for that design.

134A is usually used in Japanese made gas guns, but there are some brands of other origins that use this gas as well. It can be used in temperatures anywhere above 40 degrees Fahrenheit, though a general rule of thumb is to upgrade to green gas when the gun begins to misfire.

The most popular gas propellant used for an airsoft gun is green gas. Almost every gun that is not made in Japan is designed to use green gas; however, you need to beware of using green gas in hot summer weather as it could become too powerful and harm your gun.

In terms of quality, there is a wide range of airsoft guns using green gas, so it isn't exactly possible to determine the exact temperature at which you should switch to a less powerful gas. You can play it safe by always keeping around some 134A and using that when the temperature exceeds 100 degrees F. You can also decide on the right gas by considering how often you're using it and the amount of direct sunlight. For example, direct sunlight will heat up the gas faster whereas frequent firing actually decreased pressure and subsequently the temperature of the gun.

The most versatile gas propellant for an airsoft gun would be CO2; however, guns that use CO2 are notorious for being complicated and difficult to maintain. CO2 guns are few and far between, can become costly, and very rarely take any other type of gas. For these reasons and more, CO2 guns have the smallest following in the airsoft community.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighting

By Darren Bradley

Mixed martial arts fighting is fast becoming one of the biggest sports in America. Will it ever be the number one sport? Well, I guess that depends on who you ask. I personally think the sport is just going to continue getting bigger. Im not sure if it will ever be the number one sport though. This sport does appeal to a lot of age groups, which could be why the sport is expanding at such an incredible rate

Why is, mixed martial arts growing so fast? Is it because of the short, fast paced, 5 minute rounds, which can be a non-stop adrenaline rush! With fights ending in knockout or submissions before the first round even ends. Is it because the sport appeals to so many different age groups or is it because its new and exciting, will it phase out in a few years?

With the UFC stars being noticed now for being athletes, that train just as hard, or even harder than normal athletes. Will this sport finally gain the respect it deserves? It used to be called a blood sport or cock fighting. In fact I believe some people still regard the sport as that. Do people realize the discipline involved now, the constant workouts for strength, conditioning and of course the martial arts training.

This sport has gone through some remarkable transformations over the years. The UFC has done remarkable things for MMA. What one was viewed only by a few thousand people at most, to now viewing live UFC nights to millions of people worldwide!

With impressive sales and huge demand, the UFC is the number one place for fighters to go to. If you want to fight the best fighters in the world you will have to break into the UFC ranks. Once there you will be able to make a very nice living, well if youre good.

So if youre new to this sport, and you have just starting to follow the UFC you are in for a great ride. If youre already a fan and have been following MMA Im sure you will agree with me. This is a fantastic sport which will only get bigger.

Brian Bowles Shocks Miguel Angel Torres At WEC 42

By Ross Everett

Brian Bowles used a counter right hook late in the first round to defeat Miguel Angel Torres by TKO and win the WEC Bantamweight title in the main event of another exciting fight card from Zuffas MMA promotion showcasing the lighter weight classes.

The event will be remembered for the main event and the shocking upset of Torres, whom commentator Frank Mir had been championing as the pound for pound best fighter in the sport of late. Torres certainly had the credentials"a fighter equally as dangerous on his feet as on the ground, hed compiled a 37-1 record entering the fight against Bowles. Since a 2003 decision loss to Ryan Ackerman, Torres had run off 17 straight victories including his most recent triumph by decision over a tough challenge from Japanese striking machine Takeya Mizugaki.

Bowles entered the cage accompanied by the music of Johnny Cash. This prompted WEC commentator Todd Harris to quip "It takes a special man to walk in to Johnny Cash". He wasnt kidding, and Bowles quickly announced his presence with authority rocking Torres with an overhand right and scoring a takedown within the first minute. After a groundfighting sequence, the two fighters exchanged punches again and initially it looked like Torres was getting the best of things as he landed a multiple punch combination that sent Bowles backing up. Almost out of nowhere, however, Bowles countered with a perfectly placed short right hook that sent the champion to the canvas. He followed up with some nasty ground and pound punches including a big left hand that knocked his opponent unconscious and forced the referee to wave off the fight.

In his postfight interview, Bowles sounded unsurprised by the outcome. His comments indicated that hed been very well prepared for Torres considerable skills and though he conceded that hed been stung by the punching barrage waited for the opening to throw the right hook that ended the fight. Bowles displayed considerable class in victory, and Torres conducted himself in a matter befitting a champion as he accepted the defeat.

A rematch between Bowles and Torres is almost inevitable, but theres plenty of talent in the WEC bantamweight division. The semifinal bout on the card pitted two of these competitors in what may have been an elimination match for #1 contender status as Dominick Cruz handed feisty Joseph Benavidez his first professional loss via unanimous decision. The unorthodox and insanely athletic Benevidez had a good deal of trouble with the superior height and reach of Cruz. Benavidez managed to give a good account of himself, but in the end the physical disparity along with Cruzs repeated takedowns and sharp striking skills spelled the difference in this matchup.

Further muddling the picture in the bantamweight division was an earlier fight on the card, in which Takeya Mizugaki outlasted Jeff Curran to win a split decision victory. Mizugaki had trouble with the active guard of Curran, but scored takedowns in all three rounds. He did enough from the top position while fending off submission attempts to earn the verdict and to make his claim for #1 contender status.

Why Airsoft Guns Are The Best Choice

By Anthony Carter

If you are one of many people who enjoy participating in shooting games, there are a few different options of gun simulation products and methods from which to choose such as airsoft guns, laser tag guns, and paintball guns.

Even though an airsoft gun offers the most advantages above the other two types, the kind of shooting game that is best for you will ultimately be up to your personal preferences.

These guns are known for looking like authentic guns, which makes airsoft games feel much more realistic than other shooting games. There is a very wide range of electric type guns on the market that are modeled on every style of gun. Among the best selling are replica AK47s and sniper rifles.

Neither laser tag guns nor paintball guns can compare to an airsoft gun when it comes to looking and acting like a real gun. For starters, paint and lasers don't create much of a realistic setting. You may have some variety in terms of looks when it comes to paintball guns, but in most cases you can't even buy a laser tag gun. Instead, you have to go to a laser tag facility and pay to use their equipment within their establishment.

The way the shooting game is played also depends on the type of gun used, so that will affect your decision as well. For instance, participating in airsoft matches involves shooting BBs at one another in a predetermined setting. Paintball gun matches work rather similarly; however, the ammo used in the former makes the experience rather different than when paint is used. Considering lasers don't actually physically hit people, the gear worn serves a completely different purpose from that worn in paintball and airsoft games, though the actual dynamic of laser tag games are rather alike.

Price shouldn't be the most important factor when deciding on what type of shooting game you want to get involved in, but it's still something you have to think about if you want to make a cost effective choice. In addition to having much cheaper ammunition, an airsoft gun is normally less expensive than paintball guns.

You will spend approximately the same amount of money on 100 paintballs as you would on 1000 BBs, making paintball ammo roughly ten times more expensive than airsoft ammo. On the other hand, laser tag ammo doesn't cost anything at all, but it does get expensive when you can't buy the equipment and have to continuously rent it for one use at a time. In the end, you'll be making a much wiser investment by purchasing airsoft or paintball equipment.

As you can see, there are quite a few reasons why airsoft guns are more popular than paintball and laser tag guns. A significant number of people who have previously joined in airsoft gunfights will tell you that there is a good chance you will favour its qualities, though your personal preferences will of course prevail.

Help On How To Find The Best Cardiovascular Program

By Damyan Lagina

A cardiovascular exercise program consists of training practices that involve the intense use of the body muscles in activities that also have an impact on the heart and the lungs. Both the cardiovascular and the respiratory systems are stimulated by such activities, improving the health condition of both heart and lungs. The main advantage of a cardiovascular exercise is that it helps one lose weight better than any other form of training, plus, not to mention that working out has a great influence for other health problems as well. It seems that the influence of a cardiovascular exercise on the system also involves the reduction of the blood pressure too, hence there will be a lower risk of heart attack or failure.

A cardiovascular exercise requires a certain intensity level to be efficient for the heart, although overdoing is a risk you ought to consider as well. Monitoring of the heart rate represents the best way of determining how well you train. The heart rate can be measured either manually or electronically with a heart rate monitor. There is a normal and a maximum heart rate per minute, and determining which is the best one for the cardiovascular exercise is to find the value that is from 50% up to 85% of the maximum rate. That is the target heart rate one should achieve for a positive outcome of the training session.

Aerobic training represents the best cardiovascular exercise in many people's opinion. Plus, it is known to cover full body training, working great for the elimination of fat deposits and efficient weight loss. A person who focuses on cardiovascular exercise will burn more calories than by using a traditional workout routine. Furthermore, other than a good cardiac rate, a cardiovascular exercise routine improves the health of the whole body system, and this doesn't result from weight loss alone. The lungs improve their function, the joints get more flexible and there is a higher energy level to enjoy.

Don't ignore the importance of adapting diet and lifestyle to a cardiovascular exercise program. An intense training rhythm is normally difficult to carry on with particularly in the case of smokers. Then, without quality food that supplies plenty of nutrients to the body, aerobic training is hard to support. Energy is taken not only from the fat deposits but from the food you eat as well. Therefore, it is important to learn which foods are good for physical effort and which are less efficient.

Prepare Yourself for the Real World with Martial Art Techniques

By Steve Thibeault

Little is known about the ancient form of combat known as martial arts, unless you are more directly involved with the tradition. They are a variety of different martial art techniques, many of which are steeped in mystique and history, but there are some which have been developed during the modern era. A number of localities around you will play home to martial arts schools and would likely be keen to enroll you or your children to learn more.

Martial arts techniques could be very valuable to you if you ever worry about safety when you are out and about. It is a sad indictment on our modern life that we cannot go about our business without worry. Martial arts could be particularly helpful to you if you do not like the idea of carrying modern weapons around and want to be able to defend yourself.

The standing or striking position is one of the fundamental martial art techniques taught to us by experts. There are a variety of these styles, including kung fu, Tae Kwon do, kickboxing and karate. Always start your combat from a standing position and seek to gain advantage by using takedown or take out moves. In this way, you should study aikido, hapkido and judo.

A number of martial art techniques incorporate weapons of some kind, including the traditional styles of kendo and kali. Some forms of karate use wooden swords, but you can also use throwing spikes, a spiked kubotan or other ninja gear, such as throwing stars.

Today, the "sports" style has evolved with the incorporation of a number of traditional maneuvers into a hybrid style of martial arts techniques. Now, you can expect to see the elements of grappling, stand up and take down maneuvers when teaching.

When someone practices martial art techniques, as they are getting ready to engage they will adopt a particular stance in readiness. Very often, for a would-be attacker, this is a sign that he may be about to come up against someone who is a lot more nimble and better able to defend him or herself. Maybe it's time to back off?

You can benefit from the adoption of martial art techniques in several ways. Primarily, this form of self-defense and combat is something that few who are not privy to the style will be able to defend against. Apart from this, it represents a good form of exercise and will help you to develop a much stronger mindset.

Tai chi is one of the least aggressive forms and is one of the martial arts techniques that concentrates on spiritual effects, fitness and breathing techniques to best effect.

What Are The Benefits Of Omega 3 Fatty Acids?

By Peter Bertonich

You're not totally convinced about the benefits of Omega 3 fatty acids yet are you? You've heard all about it, but aren't quite ready to believe it.

Many of us have heard all about Omega 3 fats and the health benefits that you're supposed to get from fish oil supplements. But what are the benefits and are they proven? And should you be taking Omega 3 capsules, or can you just eat more fish?

All good questions. Firstly lets ask ourselves whether the benefits of fish oil supplements are proven. And is fish oil supplementation somehow "alternative" and not something accepted by mainstream medicine?

The easy answer is this. The American Heart Association, on it's website, recommends minimum levels of Omega-3 for the diet, and lists the heart benefits of Omega3 fats. That's the AHA, certainly not an "alternative" organization, in fact pretty mainstream. If the AHA say that Omega polyunsaturated fats are good then that's good enough for me.

Leta have a look at what more fish oil does for us. It's full of good stuff like DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). These are the most essential Omega 3 fats, DHA in particular. Is it "proven"that these are good for you? When is anything proven? I still know a mainstream doctor who says that excess cholesterol isn't bad for you at all. There's always experts on both sides of the argument.

1. Heart and cardio vascular health

A decrease in bad cholesterol. An increase in good cholesterol. A reduction in blood pressure. A reduced risk of stroke. There's some of the heart benefits of Omega 3 fats, and that's a pretty good start.

2. Reduction in risks of aging related problems

A decrease in the risk of macular degeneration with age, the number one cause of blindness in the over 65s A decrease in the risk of Alzheimers with aging A decrease in the risk of dementia with aging

A reduction in the risks associated with Diabetes Diabetes sufferers have an up to 6 times increased risk of death due to heart attack. As fish oil benefits the heart and reduces the risk of heart attacks this is excellent news for diabetes sufferers.

3. Skin improvements.

The skin produces it's own natural oils and our environment strips them out. Wind, sun and pollution and more all contribute to loss of natural skin oil. Good polyunsaturated Omega 3 fats help return our skin to good health by adding back good oils to our skin, and when combined with top shelf natural skin care products can have impressive results for our skin health.

4. An improvement in Arthritis

Arthritis is inflammation of the joints and so anything that helps reduce that inflammation helps arthritis. In the past Aspirin has been prescribed but it can have negative health side effects. Omega 3 oils have been shown to much better anti inflammatory properties than Aspirin, and they have positive health side effects, not negative ones.

5. An increase in the effectiveness of weight loss programs

There are studies linking an improvement in effectiveness of weight loss programs if they are combined with an increase of Omega 3 fats. The studies show that if we combine exercise with Omega 3s we lose more weight than if we just do the exercise. The expected reason is that the polyunsaturated Omega 3 fats improve the ability of various enzymes to burn fat.

Convinced that you should be taking your Omega 3 fish oil supplements? There's more benefits of Omega 3 capsules, but if what I've already written isn't enough to convince you I don't know what is.

But can you get your intake of Omega 3 fats from eating fish? Well it's not easy, because the FDA tells us not to eat too much fish because of the risk of contamination with various toxins. And of course if fish are contaminated with toxins then the fish oil you get from them is too. And fish is by far the best source of DHA and EPA known.

So you need to take your Omega 3 fats but the best way to do so is to use Omega 3 fish oils supplements. But which ones do you buy, and which ones do you avoid? I've written about this on my website, I won't bother going into it now.

And if you want to find out more about the benefits of Omega 3 fish oils you'll find more on my website too.

So if you're convinced about the health benefits of Omega 3 fish oils in your diet make sure you're taking your fish oil supplements, daily.

The Classical Method for Attaining Moving Power in the Martial Arts!

By Al Case

One of the things I heard about, when I first began learning the martial arts, was that the hips are the cornerstone of power. Being involved in Chinese Kenpo, I didn't understand, for that art is not set up for hip power. I kept reading about this concept of hip power, however, and how it was developed by the Japanese classical Karate arts.

To have hip power one must keep the hips stable. Tilting the hips is more for kicks, and most other moves are done with the hips being used as a stable base. I came to grips with this fascinating idea through a simple exercise.

Stand in a forward stance, then pivot so you are facing to the side in another front stance. Hold a broomstick across the front of your hips when you do this exercise. When you snap the hips the ends of the broomstick shouldn't wiggle.

It wasn't long before I was able to snap this hip power into a punch. It was like slamming heavy and very large door into an opponent. All I had to do was minimize power loss by not letting any body parts wiggle.

After this I had to learn how to use my hip power while in motion. The way to do required an amazing amount of muscular control and concentration. There are two concepts I utilize when teaching this concept.

The first stage is to communicate to the student how a runner sets up for his launch--as a runner puts his feet in the chocks and knuckles on the line, he must position the hips so that they are between the feet and the target, that is the finish line. This is an exercise in balance, as he must find the exact line of body so that he can get maximum leg push, and not leave his line of intention for the goal. Doing this requires attention to detail, and learning how to strengthen the legs so that you can put the most muscle on the line.

Once the student has this concept, get him to understand that he must use the concept in every single technique he does. No matter what he is doing, he must set his body so that the legs are prepared for maximum push. He must align the limbs and the hips with where he must go in the technique, and then focus and concentrate and align his efforts to get there.

Once one has low hips, and the resulting low stance, he is able to use the power of the tan tien. This can be a brutal part of training, as the teacher demands that the student get lower and lower, use more power, more energy. In the end, however, this is one of the crucial secrets of Karate, and of the martial arts.

Keep Your Family And Property Safe With Home Security System Monitoring

By Roger Kellomet

When you shop for a security system for your home, you can choose between a simple alarm system or a more sophisticated set up complete with home security system monitoring. A monitoring system will allow you to privately keep watch on your home while you are away. Understanding the benefits associated with each while taking your needs into account will help you decide if home security system monitoring is the best choice for you.

Home security video systems are growing in popularity for obvious reasons as they allow you to visually monitor your home inside and out while you're away. If you have a babysitter or household staff, these systems allow you to check up on them as well.

Having home security system monitoring gives your home and property a high degree of added security and is a reliable way to ensure the security of your home. Make sure that you install all of the necessary components like sensors, cameras, switches and a control panel. The components of your security system work in concert to offer your home and family security and you peace of mind.

While a home security monitoring system is a great surveillance tool, you'll still need to make it difficult for an intruder to get inside your home in the first place; or at least keep them from getting in for long enough for the police to show up. Make sure that you keep your doors and windows locked, even when you're not away from home. Keep your bushes well trimmed and try to eliminate hiding places. Get rid of trellises and trim tree limbs which would make it easy for an intruder to get to the upstairs of your home.

Hard wired and wireless home security monitoring systems are both available. In newly constructed homes, wired systems are more common and are often included in the home as it is being built. If you already own a home, this is still an option, though it is generally very expensive to install a wired system in a preexisting home. A wireless system is far less expensive and can be installed on one's own.

You can choose dedicated home security system monitoring. When you do this you give your home the maximum amount of protection possible. For this you have a security company monitor the alarms on your property. It does cost more than doing it all yourself but you get peace of mind in knowing your family and property are as safe as possible in the hands of security experts.

Home security system monitoring companies provide various levels of service. You can choose a less expensive option that offers partial monitoring. Your security company can notify the police when an alarm goes off at your home or they can contact you by telephone or some other method. You can even have a two way voice system installed in your home so you can be in immediate contact. The level of service you choose will determine your monthly fee for protection.

Home security monitoring provides exceptional peace of mind. You can keep an eye on your children when you can't be there to watch them; you can make sure that elderly parents you're caring for are OK and of course, be aware if anyone is trying to enter your home. Home business owners especially may want to consider using home security monitoring to prevent theft and loss from fires. A quality security system can provide you with around the clock surveillance to keep you, your home and your family protected.

History Of The UFC

By Darren Bradley

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has introduced a form of fighting which it classed as no-holds-barred. In the beginning the Ultimate Fighting Championships had very few rules. There were no weight classes and no time limits or rounds. The only rules were that fighters could not eye gouge, bite, or fish hook, and fights could only end with a referees stoppage, knock out, or submission, which could be done verbally, or by a tap out, where the fighter must tap the mat, or his opponent three times with his hand or foot to signal that he submits.

The event was a one night tournament, where competitors would fight several times in one night, in a single elimination style tournament until a champion was named. The lack of weight classes was an obvious problem, when 415 pound sumo wrestler was allowed to fight 216 pound kick boxer. This scene was later repeated in the third UFC event, when 6-foot-8inch tall, 600 pound sumo wrestler, was allowed to fight 5-foot-11-inch tall, 200 pound karate fighter.

As the UFC gained popularity, it became a political topic, as one Arizona Senator launched a campaign against the UFC. As a result, in 1997, pay-per-view companys dropped the Ultimate Fighting Championship events from their line-ups.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship remained out of sight, without pay-per-view coverage, and banned from all but a handful of states for several years, until the franchise was purchased by Zuffa, LLC. Zuffa, a Las Vegas based media and casino management company owned by Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta, took over the UFC franchise with the intention of returning it to its former popularity, and eventually gaining the sport mainstream acceptance. The Fertittas and Zuffa President Dana White sought to turn the UFC into a good, clean sport with actual rules, which allowed the sport to eventually become sanctioned. This would be a huge step for the UFC, as sanctioning provides a legitimization for the sport, according to Bruce Buffer.

Dana White and the Fertittas work hard work came apparent in 2001, when the UFC returned to pay-per-view, with record PPV sales, and record ticket sales at their live events. The new and improved UFC returned with a stricter set of rules, which included rounds, time limits, five weight classes, a list of 31 fouls, and 8 possible ways to win. The UFC fighters were very different from those that entered the Octagon in 1993. Current UFC fighters are among the best conditioned athletes in the world. Often, fighters train for more than six hours a day.

Today, the UFCs pay-per-view sales are rising quickly, and most of live shows are sold out at the arenas. A lot of fighters now spend a few years fighting in smaller events, getting experience before they go to the UFC. Mixed martial arts is also currently the fastest growing sport in the United States, as mixed martial arts events and training centers spring up all over the country, and the money the sport is making continues to grow at a nearly exponential rate.

Lesnar Wins UFC 100 Main Event

By Ross Everett

UFC 100 was a historic night for the sport of mixed martial arts, and Brock Lesnar used the occasion to avenge his previous loss to Frank Mir with a lopsided TKO victory. With the victory, Lesnar unified the promotion's heavyweight championship. The Mir/Lesnar tilt was the main event on an epic card which culminated an insane week in Las Vegas.

UFC 100 drew unprecedented attention from not only the MMA media but the mainstream sports media as well. While outlets like ESPN have long treated MMA with disdain they were forced by the interest surrounding the event to give it prime coverage.

While the big metric of the events success will be its PPV buy rate"which will almost certainly shatter existing UFC records"the attendance numbers and other tangible measures that are already known underscore the significance of the event. Fridays weigh in was a standing room only affair with over 2,000 fans turned away. A Fan Expo held in conjunction with UFC 100 counted over 30,000 visitors on Friday and an equal or greater number on Saturday. Even veteran fight media experienced in covering big boxing and MMA events worldwide have reported that the energy and general vibe around this event is like nothing theyve seen.

The main event established Lesnar as not only the UFC heavyweight champion, but the most hated 'bad guy' in the sport. He implemented a perfect gameplan against the BJJ mastery of Mir, leveraging his strength and power to pummel his foe while not placing himself at risk of submission.

Mir, on the other hand, made a tactical mistake by letting Lesnar put him on his back and pound away. He clearly underestimated Lesnar's ability to defend his submissions and by the end of the first round had already suffered a nasty beating. Lesnar quickly took Mir down again at the start of the second round, ending the fight with a punishing ground and pound assault that prompted referee Herb Dean to call a stop to the contest at 1:48 of the second round.

Lesnar's postfight performance was less impressive and not befitting a champion. He taunted Mir after the stoppage, prompting the crowd to boo him mercilessly. He responded to this with a double handed middle finger salute before a short and arrogant postfight interview that would have been much more at home in the WWE than in this setting. Mir was the consummate professional in defeat, giving credit to his opponent and generally displaying all of the class that Lesnar lacked.

Anderson Silva Dominant In UFC 101 Victory

By Ross Everett

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva had lost a lot of his luster coming into Saturday nights UFC 101 matchup with former light heavyweight champ Forrest Griffin. He was undefeated in his previous nine UFC contests, but his last three victories had been far from impressive. Even Dana White criticized his recent effort and finally conceded that St. Pierre might, indeed, be the best all around fighter in the game.

That all changed at UFC 101. Silva was simply dominant as he overwhelmed the naturally larger Griffin, knocking his opponent down three times before finishing the fight with a spectacular"yet almost effortless"straight right hand. The TKO victory was The Spiders most impressive showing since his submission triumph over Dan Henderson at UFC 82. Ironically, Hendo"off his own devastating KO victory over Michael Bisping at UFC 100"will likely be Silvas next challenger for his middleweight title.

The live crowd in Philadelphia clearly favored the likable Griffin and gave him a huge ovation as he bounced to the ring to his trademark walk-in song Shipping Up To Boston by the Dropkick Murphys. Silva, meanwhile, received a smattering of boos as he confidently strode to the cage. Silva displayed much more humility toward the fans than he has in his recent outings, bowing in all four directions after the entered the cage.

He displayed none of that courtesy toward Griffin once the fight began and was simply the wrecking machine that UFC fans had grown accustomed before his recent run of lackluster performances. Forrest came right at Silva, assuming that his natural size advantage would equate to a strength advantage as well. All that did was make him a stationary target for Silvas pinpoint striking accuracy and The Spider quickly took control of the fight. After an early feeling out process, Griffin flashed a body kick which was caught by Silva and countered with a short punch that sent him to the canvas for a flash knockdown.

The second knockdown clearly hurt Griffin, though he once again made it back to his feet quickly and landed a combination of his own. This was his best"and last"offense of the fight. Silva quickly floored Griffin with a left hand that left little doubt to the eventual outcome of the contest. The double tough Griffin made it to his feet again, and tried to land a leg kick"which Patrick Cote had used with some success in their fight.

Silva, backing up, countered it perfectly and landed an almost effortless straight right that sent Griffin down for good. The referee didnt even bother to count as he waved his arms over the prone fighter as Silva celebrated his win. Griffin quickly exited the cage and, reportedly, the arena. Postfight reports suggested that he wanted to get immediate medical attention for a dislocated jaw suffered on the penultimate knockdown.

Silva, apparently making an effort to be more fan friendly, did his postfight interview in English with a Portuguese interpreter standing at the ready. His message was simple: I want to fight against the best. Whoever the best is at the time, I want to fight them. Though Silva didnt really affirm that hed be campaigning more at the heavier weight, that was the implicit message of his comment.

Elementary Persuasion Is Weak

By Mike Lee

There isn't anything fancy about learning how to shake someone's hand properly or about being taught how we should look people in the eye when we talk to them, but this is exactly what we are being taught in most persuasion books and hypnosis programs on the internet.

Oftentimes we are encouraged to tell people crafty stories to persuade other people, but even the use of what is now being referred to as "hypnotic storytelling" has its origins in grade school. For centuries little kids have been making up stories to impress their friends, so why are the persuasion gurus charging hundreds of dollars for these so called secrets?

What's the big deal about all the hype surrounding what is now being referred to as "hypnotic storytelling"? Heck, little kids could teach us that trick!

Seriously, some of the biggest names in hypnosis are selling repackaged information that you can find in your local library, and as you may have noticed they are selling it for hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars. They teach the same stuff: matching and mirroring, storytelling, various forms of eye contact and body language, and just about every other thing that you learned about persuasion and making friends when you were in grade school.

This is why a true persuasion artist is as rare as a diamond, but when you actually hear a true persuasion artist speak, you immediately know that you're listening to someone who knows some high powered information about human behavior and how to demonstrate human behavior in such a way that we can create various forms of behavior in other people.

Then, after we create behavior patterns in others, we can easily get them to get what we want them to do. This is what the social sciences refer to as "The Strategic Method". The Strategic Method focuses on human behavior and social structures, because by controlling these important things it is easy for us to control everything else.

Dr. Jonathan Conrad Groves, who is considered by many to be the leading authority in persuasion circles, is the man who actually coined the phrase, "Elementary Persuasion", because of how weak and childish most of the books and programs on the topic of influence and persuasion are on the market today.

Sweden's Heavyweight Boxing Champ Ingemar Johansson

By Ross Everett

Ingemar Johannson died in a Swedish nursing home in January 2009 at the age of 76. He'd lived in the nursing home in the Swedish coastal city of Kungsbacka since the mid 1990's when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and dementia, and had suffered from a tough case of pneumonia immediately prior to his death.

Johannson became a worldwide fistic superstar when he knocked out Floyd Patterson in the third round of their June 1959 fight to become heavyweight champion of the world. At the time, he was only the 5th champ to be born outside of the United States. He wasn't given much of a chance going into the fight due to his lax training and frequent partying during the weeks before the bout.

His performance against the champ that night in Yankee Stadium shocked the boxing world"after a tentative first two rounds, Johannson floored Patterson with a short right early in the third. The champ never recovered and with no three knockdown rule in effect was knocked down a total of seven times before referee Ruby Goldstein called a halt to the proceedings and awarded the Swede the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.

Patterson would regain the title just under a year later, becoming the first man to ever regain the heavyweight championship. Patterson was on top of Johannson from the opening bell, and eventually knocked his opponent out cold in the fifth round with a devastating left hook. After the fight was stopped Patterson was more concerned with Johannson's well being and cradled his vanquished foe's head while medical staff attended to him.

Johannson would again face Patterson less than a year later, with the champ retaining his title via 6th round knockout after an exciting slugfest that saw both competitors taste the canvas. Eventually, however, Patterson's superior conditioning prevailed and he earned the victory. Johannson would fight only four more times after that, all in his home country of Sweden, before retiring for good in 1963.

Patterson and Johannson remained lifelong friends, and would travel to visit each other yearly until Patterson's death in 2006. Johannson made a number of film appearances in Sweden, and spent time in Miami every year. He enjoyed good health well into his 60's, until a variety of physical ailments took their toll.

Johannson was married and divorced twice, and is survived by five children. Ingemar Johannson enjoyed rock star like status in Sweden during his title reign and remained a widely respected and admired sportsman throughout his life. He'll be remembered by the international boxing community for the vital role he played in popularizing the sport in Europe and Scandinavia.

The Early Years Of MMA: Ali Vs. Inoki

By Ross Everett

The UFC has only recently brought mixed martial arts to the mainstream in the US, but in Japan there's a long tradition of fights pitting contestants from different disciplines against each other. While they've only been called MMA or 'mixed martial arts' in recent years, the sport clearly has its roots in these early contests between wrestlers, judo fighters and boxers. In Japan, Antonio Inoki's fights against world famous martial artists brought great notoriety to the still evolving sport.

Before and after his matchup against Muhammad Ali, Inoki would frequently compete against other martial artists in what are widely accepted to be "worked" (ie: having a predetermined outcome) matches. Inoki fought boxer Chuck Wepner, judo Gold Medalist Wilhelm Ruska and world karate champion Willie Williams among others. His most famous match internationally, however, was against Ali.

There's a great deal of uncertainty about many of the stories surrounding how the event came together and transpired, but a few facts are now known. Ali took the fight as it was a large and presumptively easy paycheck. The big money he was earning is what kept him from walking out when his camp started to disagree with Inoki's handlers over the rules and 'finish' fo the fight. Some suggest that it was supposed to be a fair fight going in, but Ali at the last minute insisted on rules more favorable to him. The more likely version of events is that Ali's handlers agreed to a predetermined finish, only to have Ali balk at the last moment.

Many conspiracy theorists have noted that these rules were never announced to the crowd on fight night, leaving many with the impression that they were being made up as they went along. Action in the fight would further validate this view, but there actually were rules that both camps agreed to heading into the fight. Not surprisingly, most of these were designed to protect Ali. In fact, they were so one-sided that if Inoki hadn't been so concerned about preserving his big payday he would have been justified in not fighting. Inoki was prohibited from punching with a closed fist or striking Ali in the head (ostensibly since he wasn't wearing gloves). Inoki was prohibited from using any sort of submission maneuver. The most absurd limitation was that Inoki was prohibited from "grappling or trying to take Ali to the ground". A few observers noted that this was like not letting Ali throw a jab.

Despite the repeated howls from the media that the fight was 'fixed', it was anything but--it was a real fight and painfully boring. Ali did next to nothing, Inoki did whatever he could within the one sided rules. Eventually, Inoki spent most of the fight on the ground trying to throw kicks at Ali's legs. The event ended up as a 74-74 draw. Both fighters got paid, and the fans got to watch a fight albeit a really, really bad one.

Some interesting trivia about the fight--the referee was former pro wrestler "Judo" Gene Labell, who is considered by many 'the baddest man on the planet' even in his 80's. He could have very likely beaten up both men at the same time--a spectacle that might have been welcomed by the live crowd and closed circuit audience worldwide.

After the fight, Inoki's popularity in Japan was greater than ever. He became something of a hero for trying to fight despite having the rules so decidedly in his opponent's favor. He'd continue his fights against other martial artists and remain one of the country's most popular sports figures for years to come. His 'worked' martial arts matches can be credited with sparking later hybrid promotions showcasing pro wrestling and martial arts that evolved into PRIDE, RINGS and the major Japanese fight promotions of today.
