The Value of Leadership Development

By Bart Icles

These days, there are many organizations who fail to realize the importance of leadership development. It is not unusual to discount the value of developing leaders in an organization, especially when it believes that corporate leaders can always have their own way. An autocratic view of leadership often clouds our understanding of what it really is - and in times like this, a need to develop leadership may just be the answer to make the organization realize what leadership really is.

While many people say that leaders are born and not made, there is - in reality - no such thing as a natural born leader. This only stresses the importance of leadership development in any organization. Practically anyone can have the potential to become a leader. What sets one leader from the rest is how much effort has been given to develop this kind of potential.

What does leadership development really mean? One can think of it as an effort to improve the ability of the person to lead or an undertaking centered on enhancing the abilities and attitudes of leaders that have been sitting on top of the chain of command. A successful attempt to developing leadership takes more than just the ability to give out orders - it also requires people skills, diplomacy, and a certain level of understanding of how much space there is from being on top and being at the bottom.

The development of leadership in any organization must be addressed in two levels - both at an individual and a group level. The development of individual leadership can be facilitated in a hands-on or in a classroom environment or even a combination of both. This kind of leadership training is important for those who are about to go on their first day on the field and for those who find it a big challenge to have a shot at holding the reins of command. This is important so they will not end up stagnant at the bottom rung of the corporate ladder.

On the other hand, leadership development at a group level is also important to any type of organization and regardless of the industry it belongs to. Development of group leadership helps different leaders understand that they should perceive and process things as a team, and they should think and act like a team. It is important for corporate leaders that they should act like well-oiled machine - aware of each other's strengths, weakness, patterns and goals so they can work as one to achieve success.

Cardio Exercise As A Way To Pump Up Your Metabolism

By Ricardo d Argence

When considering your overall health and fitness level cardiovascular exercise is just as important as anaerobic, lifting weights. Cardio workouts are responsible for getting your heart rate up and increasing the blood flow through your entire body.

Look at cardio as your whole body workout, during it you should feel your heart pumping, breathe a little harder than normal and work up a decent sweat in the process.

The most important muscle in your body is your heart and this is why cardio workouts are so important, they work the heart! When your pulse rises and is sustained at an elevated rate for a specific amount of time you increase your health while increasing your fitness levels.

Of course, you should check with your doctor before you begin any fitness program in case you have any contraindications whereby you shouldn't be participating in vigorous exercise.

Perhaps one of the biggest and most widely touted benefits of cardio routines is the fact that it burns off unneeded calories and helps you to lose excess weight. You will get the added benefit of toning your entire body as well.

The benefits of a cardio routine do not stop there! Not only will you burn extra calories during your workout but also you will continue to burn more calories when at rest. Recent studies suggest that this added burn can continue for up to 18 hours after you complete your routine.

In the course of becoming fit and toning your body, it will begin to burn calories faster as a natural reaction. This is because when your body is getting fit you lose weight, more importantly fat and gain muscle tissue. Muscles are scientifically proven to burn more calories even when you are asleep!

Another benefit of cardiovascular exercises that it releases the so-called "feel-good" hormones called endorphins. Endorphins are your body's natural opiates, and they can also help ease depression.

That being said if you have spent a good amount of time living a sedentary lifestyle do not try to go for the gusto all at once. This can cause significant injury and will only set you back. Injuries must have time to heal and this will take time away from getting fit.

Before you start, make a visit to your doctor and make sure you're okay for vigorous physical activity. If your doctor gives you a clean bill of health, go ahead -- but again, DON'T go full steam ahead. Instead, start slowly by walking just 10 minutes at a moderate pace every day. If you can't do 10 minutes, five is fine. The idea here is to get started and keep going.

At about the two-week mark you will begin to notice something peculiar happening. You will all of a sudden have more energy, better sleep and fewer cravings for junk foods. Overall, you will simply feel better. One surprising effect will be when you notice your attitude and mood are much more positive.

As you continue, you're going to have to give yourself greater and greater challenges to make sure you keep your fitness level up. In other words, you should ALWAYS be breaking a sweat when you do cardio and you should always be breathing hard by the time you finish your workout. Opt for at least 20 minutes a day every day, at least five days a week.

Of course, once you embark on a good cardio program, you're only going to help yourself if you change your diet to so that you eat right, get enough sleep, drink enough water, and all those other good health changes, too. After all, once you start with cardio, you'll never want to look back.

Learn Krav Maga A Reality Based Self Defense System Built For The Streets

By Manny Krugar

Krav Maga is the official method of self defense for the Israeli military. They needed a self defense system that was easy to learn, (didn't require years of training like traditional martial arts) and effective.

Created by Imi Lichtenfeld during world war two in Czechoslovakia, Imi developed his system as a way for the Jews to protect themselves. After the war, he continued to fine tune these techniques until it was officially adopted as the self defense system for the Israeli military and police forces.

What makes Krav Maga so easy to learn? Well there are no kata's, no Dojo rules and none of the aspects of traditional martial arts that take most people years of training in order to be proficient. Instead it focuses on real life, effective methods for dealing with any violent situation quickly and effectively.

Anyone can learn Krav Maga but be forewarned you better be in good shape. Classes are generally structured around alot of cardio, and be prepared to practice your new found self defense techniques against multiple opponents. It's not uncommon to practice against 3 or 4 opponents until you're body just wants to quit due to exhaustion.

The idea is to train under high stress, so that when and if you find yourself in a real life encounter you will be able to react, fast and effectively without thinking. This is what sets Krav Maga apart from other martial arts.

Knowing How to Act on Home Security Signs

By Leonard Rigsby

Home security signs will some times smack you in the face and other times they will be more subtle in their discretion. There might be a need to seek these signals out but knowing how to recognizing them is the first step in combating them.

Since we can not be everywhere all the time there could be home security signs you are missing simply because you are not around. Knowing your neighbors and opening up lines of communication can come in quite handy when you want to know what is transpiring in your subdivision/town.

The seemingly limitless options that are available to you in terms of home surveillance is better approached with an understanding of what you are looking for when walking into a home security store. Being clueless is only going to make you susceptible to a sales pitch. The more you know the better off you will be.

While a home security store can be beneficial in learning and gaining an understanding of how these magnificent devices work they can play against you just the same. Learning about what you are looking for is the best way to go about planning your new home surveillance network.

A home security store might try and persuade you into something that is not needed and more expensive than what you were originally looking for. This has nothing to do with being derogatory towards a sales person it is just the nature of the game.

A way to learn about the different kinds of home safety devices is to make a list (mental or physical) of all the home security signs you have found. This can be anywhere from repeated breaking and entering around you, constant theft and loitering, or even just enough of the wrong kind of people taking up residence in your neighborhood.

Keeping you, your family, and your livelihood protected is an important part of living a happy life. This will not be a decision you want to take half heartedly. Checking your neighborhood, talking with neighbors, and being aware of what is happening around you is crucial to leading a safe and secure life.

Even though there are countless home security signs, the need to keep you, your family, and your home safe is always going to be a priority no matter what the reasons are. This is why you want to know exactly what you are investing in and what you will be getting when making a purchase of this magnitude. This is a major investment both financially and personally so taking the time to grasp this knowledge will only be prosperous in the end.

Ways To Get Rid Of Belly Fat

By Toony Graspee

I get asked often what is the best way to burn fat and build muscle. A lot of people want to know if aerobics exercise is the only way to go than doing strength training, or if the common exercises that involve cardio does more than interval training.

With more than 15 years of experience in the fitness field of scientific research, teaching others and training myself I am sure I know exactly what works and what doesnt.

I want to guarantee that you understand what I am saying. Heres what will actually work for people that cant devote a lot of time to exercising. Im expecting that whoever is reading this doesnt have 90 minutes to devote to working out. Now, almost everyone dont have enough time for their workouts to be included in their schedule. That is also why there is no connection of information found in fitness magazines. Readers reading those cant apply what is found in the magazines due to not having enough time.

No one has time to exercise 6-8 hours a week. Think, you dont need to actually workout 6-8 hours a week unless youre a tri-athlete. If you just want to burn off fat and pack on muscle you just need a system that will do that.

The main point for getting a nicer body is to use body weight exercises to get your warm up going then strength training super sets to build that muscle and then finish with interval training to get rid of the fat in a quick amount of time.

Turbulence Training is a system that was structured so that you are done with your workout in 45 minutes, just three times a week. You'll do 5 minutes of body weight exercises to get your warm up going. This is a more effective approach then spending time walking on the treadmill, which really do not get you ready for anything besides walking more on the treadmill.

You will then move to the strength training supersets. Using two exercises done back to back with very little rest between each one. This will cut your workout time while gaining maximum results. All that is needed is 20 minutes for this. We will do basic exercises and depending on the clients goal for building muscle sometimes more bodyweight exercises.

At last 18 minutes of great interval training. A sweet warm up followed by six but short intervals thats exactly right for the client. Then a real short, low intensity recovery for your muscles. Completely finish it with a relaxing cool down and that is what the workout is about. Remember it is just 45 minutes of your day and only three times a week.

An Excellent and Most Fine Method for Creating Your Own Martial Art

By Al Case

Art is the fact and process of creating something. A simple statement with profound and far reaching effects. Art is the break down and synthesis of the old patterns into new and varied possibilities.

The funny thing is that most instructors frown on the act of creating anything new. The most popular method of teaching is to have the student copycat, exactly and without deviation, what the teacher says and does. But a fight is always new and original, and requires creativity to win.

Thus, if you are going to win a fight, it behooves you to learn how to be creative. Interestingly, nobody has ever written a course or book on how to be creative. Isn't that interesting, a whole art that has no creativity in it?

To be creative one has to break apart the current method of teaching one is engaged in. Thus, one method for being creative would be to simply take the moves of the forms and interchange them. Take a sequence from classical karate, say the first set of specific movements in pinan three, and then do the second specific set of movements from pinan four, then the third set of specific movements from pinan five...and so on.

The first item you will probably learn is that these pieces of art don't always fit together in a pleasing fashion. So, what can you do to make them fit together? How can you adjust the geometry of the arms, and rework the footwork, so that the movements fit together and even make sense?

Another thing you are going to learn is that your art has lost functionality. Doing the blocks in different pattern would never fit a normal attack. So tweak your movements until they do fit a normal attack, and explore not normal attacks, and so on.

Another thing you will find is the impulse to do different things. Simply, you are going to start to create. Your mind is going to start exploring channels that normally would have been closed to you.

AsI said in the first paragraph, art is the fact of creation. Honestly, people should drill you to death, help you make every movement your own, instill art in you. But, even more honestly, if you don't start taking the movements apart and reconfiguring them, all that drilling is going to be about as good as a death knell.

Public Access To Court Records - 3 Common Mistakes

By Mike P. Aul

As a private investigator I need to search for public access to court records all the time. I have made all the mistakes that there are out there. This article will address the 3 mistakes that most people commonly make. These mistakes can greatly inhibit your efforts of finding court records.

The first mistake people usually make is not having enough information on the person they are looking for. You will need at least the person's full name and date of birth. This is especially true if the person you are looking up has a fairly common name. The date of birth will help you to distinguish the results and be sure you have the right records for the right person.

The next mistake people often make when looking for public access to court records is wasting a huge amount of time. More often then not people search and search Google only to realize that hours have passed and they have nothing. For example if you are looking for court records on someone who lives in Connecticut then you should start with the state of Connecticut Judicial web site. Be sure to try and focus your investigation from the beginning. The idea is to get the most court records as you can in the least amount of time.

The third big mistake people make is missing important records. Just because a subject lives in New york right now it does not mean that he has lived there forever. You might get a few records from New York but you will miss the convictions he may have gotten when on vacation or living in another state. This is very important no matter what your reason for your search. You would not want to hire a babysitter who has a DUI conviction would you?

How to overcome the problems.

The best solution to avoid all these disastrous mistakes is to subscribe to a court records database or background check web site. These services pool billions of records together into one place that you can search. They also regularly update and maintain their databases so you can get the most current information. While this is my best recommendation for the most time efficient and comprehensive investigation I must caution you to be sure you select a database site that offers a money back guarantee and preliminary results.

Why Buy a Wireless Home Alarm?

By Todd Cavanaugh

If you are thinking about home security, your first decision is whether to choose a hard-wired system or a wireless home alarm. Wireless systems are one of the developments of constantly advancing technology. When a burglary happens every twelve seconds in the U.S., security makes many people feel better.

The Free Wireless Home Alarm System Is Not a Good Choice

Yes, it's an alarm system. Yes, it is probably better than nothing. But remember that you only get what you pay for. Here's the problem. These free wireless home alarm systems have everything in one piece. But when a system is set up correctly, these pieces need to be separated. When everything is in one piece, you can hear the alarm and it only takes one action to completely disable the whole system.

These free wireless home alarm systems also protect the bare minimum. Most have one door switch and one window switch. If you want more, you pay big bucks for them. If you want to add sensors, you have to upgrade the system. The biggest problem is that these free systems create a false sense of security.

What Is In a Good Wireless Home Alarm?

First there is a control unit, a keypad (which might be in one piece), detectors or switches for each door and window, an alarm or siren, a telephone connection to the monitoring company, a panic button, and maybe some additional sensors. Things you will probably want to include are a smoke detector or fire alarm, glass break sensors, motion sensors and more. These are the devices that let you know if an intruder breaks a window or bypassed the system. You can also add features like making outdoor or indoor lights flash if someone gets in.

A good wireless home alarm system can do all of the things a hard-wired system can do. Wireless systems can also be programmed to call the monitoring company, the police department or a designated neighbor.

Is Wireless Better Than Hard-Wired?

If you don't want to run new wires through your walls, a wireless system is the better choice. This makes installation less expensive for a wireless system. You can also install a wireless system in about an hour. If time is an issue, you might choose wireless.

Because there are no wires running through walls, wireless systems are ideal for use in rental properties, whether houses or apartments. They cause little or no damage to the walls, doors or windows, they can be installed in about an hour, and they can be removed if you decide to move.

What is the Downside of Wireless Home Security?

There are a few drawbacks to wireless home alarms. The equipment is more expensive. Interrupting the communication between sensor and control unit will not necessarily set off the siren. Most wireless systems cannot connect to a telephone land line to call a monitoring company. If you want to use a monitoring company or have your system call the police, you will need a cellular compatible system.

A wireless home alarm system might be a good option for you if you believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages or if you live in a rental property. If you want to do the installation yourself, wireless is definitely the way to go. With the appropriate components located in your home according to optimal guidelines, you will have a reliable system to provide peace of mind.

Best Massage Treatments From Massage Chairs

By Mike Vargas

Many people don't realize the absolute variety of treatments contained in a typical massage chair. Massage chairs use advanced technology to provide full body massage capabilities. Add advanced sensor technology combined with sophisticated software equals massage therapy bliss. Here are some of the best massage treatments in massage chairs today.

The shiatsu massage treatment is a great way to go. Shiatsu provides an overall massage but also targets different acupoints throughout the body. These acupoints are stimulated to help induce total relaxation and enhance the flow of energy in the body.

Shiatsu has been around for centuries. It is thought to be a descendent of ancient Chinese medicine. It is also derived from acupuncture. Shiatsu uses pressure to stimulate the acupoints to relax the body.

In order to provide a shiatsu massage in a massage chair, the acupoints need to be identified on the back, shoulder and neck. Some massage chairs have built-in body scanning technology to identify such point. The massage chair will make a scan of your body and determined these locations. The computer then targets the most important acupoints for stimulation.

Almost nothing beats a great foot massage. Your feet take a majority of your body's weight. However, they also provide a way for relaxation. Many massage chairs have reflexology foot massage capability. This enables you to target your feet specific needs.

Reflexology foot massage is based on the concept of stimulating different points on the soles of the feet. These points are believed to be linked to other parts of the body. When stress activates your body for action, a reflexology massage helps to reverse this process and bring calmness and relaxation.

The technology used for a reflexology foot massage consists of two different elements. The first is using a reflexology plate. This has specially designed nodes that targeted trigger points on the soles of the feet. The second element is using compression massage to relieve tired and aching feet.

There are specific massage techniques that are great at relieving tight muscles. Many people have soreness between the shoulder blades. Many times tension can build up in this area. Massage chairs come with a kneading massage that is perfect for loosening and penetrating these tight muscles.

One of my favorite massage techniques is the rolling massage. The rolling massage sends the rollers up and down your spinal column. Set the rollers at the minimum bid and let it move up and down your spine. This helps to gently adjust each of your discs relieving tension in your pack.

To maintain your flexibility, it is vital that stretching be done prior to exercise or other physical activity. Stretching maintains the vitality of the muscles and joints. Massage chairs have incorporated lower body stretching systems which are great for stretching out the legs.

The stretching will hold my feet in the leg rest. The leg rest is raised and then it is successively lowered. There are three successively lower points which provide the stretching. This provides great relief of my lower back while stretching the main joints and muscles of the lower body.

These are just a few of the many great features found in massage chairs. Many massage chairs now have music players, heating systems and provide full body massage treatments. Massage chairs work off a remote control which allows the user to select specific options.

There are many massage chairs on the market today. Do yourself a favor and stick with the top brands. The top massage manufacturers make the most reliable massage chairs and provide the most comprehensive warranty coverage. A massage chair is an investment in your longer term health and well-being. Take your time and find the perfect massage chair for you.

UFC 104 Dragon V Shogun

By Josh Barnes

Its official folks, the first title defense by Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida will come at UFC 104 on Oct. 24 versus former Pride standout Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua. Lets face it folks this is going to be an amazing fight! Both amazingly talented fighters in theyre prime.

The card marks the company's first show in Los Angeles since UFC 60 in May 2006, and the first event in California since UFC 76 in September 2007. "It's been two years since the UFC was in Southern California, and we knew we had to bring something special for our return to the capital of mixed martial arts," said UFC president Dana White.

"Lyoto Machida captured the imagination of fight fans with his knockout of Rashad Evans. And while (Machida) seems unbeatable right now, Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua not only has the tools to beat any 205-pounder in the world, but he's coming off a knockout of Chuck Liddell in his last fight, so his confidence is sky-high. This has the potential to be one of the greatest light-heavyweight title fights ever."

Also announced for UFC 104 is a heavyweight match-up between Cain Velasquez and Ben Rothwell. Velasquez was scheduled to fight Shane Carwin but Carwin is now challenging Brock Lesnar at UFC 106 for the heavyweight title. Also at UFC 106, it appears the Tito Ortiz-Mark Coleman light heavyweight match is all but official. I think Lesnor will be holding the belt for a while. I cant see many people being able to deal with his size and speed. I think the best way to beat Lesnor is on the feet. Yes, he has huge power in his hands. I believe if Mir was able to keep the fight on the feet he may have been able to inflict some damage. Once the 260 lbs monster is on top of you its not going to be pretty.

Ortiz, making his return to UFC after an 18-month absence, recently posted a video of him signing and faxing his contract for the fight. UFC 106 takes place Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Im excited to see Ortiz back in the cage. Love him or hate him, he is very entertaining, and a huge crowd puller. For the UFC its a smart move! Not sure how Tito will fair after such a long layoff but I will bet it will be an entertaining fight.

Learn Krav Maga The Most Effective Reality Based Self Defense System

By Manny Krugar

Originally created by Imi Lichtenfeld in Czechoslovakia, Krav Maga was initially used by the Jews to help protect themselves during the second world war. After the war, Imi continued to develop his system until it was eventually adopted as the official hand to hand combat system for all Israeli military and police forces.

What makes Krav Maga so effective and easy to learn? Simple, there are no kata's, no traditional Dojo rules, instead the practioners drill over and over proven effective hand to hand combat techniques until they become second nature.

Anyone can learn Krav Maga, but if youre lacking in physical fitness youre going to find the classes very intense. Krav Maga classes are typically built around a lot of cardio, and they continually drill self defense techniques over and over again until you just want to quit. It's not uncommon to test your skills against 3 or 4 opponents until you are able to perform the techniques with ease and skill.

The idea is to engrain the techniques under high stress and fatigue until the practitioner can perform the moves without hesitation and thinking. This is what makes Krav Maga so effective. This constant practice under simulated real world combat conditions is what sets Krav Maga apart from other traditional martial arts.

Couture Vs Nogiuera At UFC 102

By Phil Janke

This weekends UFC features two legends in MMA. Randy "The Natural" Couture faces off against Antonio "Minotauro" Noguiera in what is a rebound match for each fighter. Each fighter has recently fought in a title bout and lost, but this will be the chance they both need to start working their way into position for a shot at the current champ, Brock Lesnar.

Randy Couture is the most tenured MMA fighter in UFC history and he stands to face the greatest test of his career. Many say he is past his prime, or that he has faced his toughest competition and it has taken its toll. In his latest fight, Couture was knocked out by heavy handed giant Brock Lesnar in the second round. But, prior to that he posted 3 of 4 wins over current champs or defending champs in the heavy weight category.

In three of four of Minotauro's last fights he has defeated Tim Sylvia, Josh Barnett and Heath Herring. All three of his opponents were rated in the top 5 of their divisions when he fought and defeated them. His latest bout was a TKO at the hands of Frank Mir, who surprised everyone, including Minotauro, by using a stand up attack against him.

Noguiera has a record that a champion would be proud of with 31 wins, 5 defeats and 1 draw. He has also beat one of the toughest UFC fighters each time he has fought him, Heath Herring.

If you compared each fighter's style, the bout would favor Noguiera. Having a black belt in BJJ and a great dirty boxing repertoire as well puts Antonio into a different realm than Couture. Noguiera is known for being a slow starter but Couture isn't heavy handed enough for that to make much of a difference.

Known for his tough chin and incredible ability to take a beating and still pull out the victory, Minotauro will be very tough for an over the hill Couture to defeat.

Each of these fighters lacks the ability to really end the fight in knock out fashion so you can anticipate this fight going into the later rounds and probably going to a decision. Noguiera is younger so he should have more stamina if that happens, thus taking a big edge over Couture.

Although Couture has had a history of being the underdog in many of his fights, and still winning, this bought will be an uphill battle all of the way.

The Spins Of Hypnotic Suggestion"...Give Your Opponents No Way Out

By Dr. Jason Atkinson

Oftentimes when you are trying to persuade someone it is like you are pitching suggestions to them. But, just as in the game of baseball, some of your pitches may be dangerous or obvious to your targets defenses. It is these type of suggestions that require you to put a "spin" on them in order to insure that your target will not have the room to resist them.

"Spins" can be delivered in a variety of ways: You may sets frames at the starting points of conversations so that your target will be more vulnerable to the suggestions you are giving them as you continue with the conversation, or these "spins" can serve as a diversion after your suggestions so that there is a distraction. Therefore the power of "spins" is rooted in the distraction methods that are talked about in the disguised forms of hypnosis.

Let's say, for example, that you write a poem to someone that is full of romantic suggestions. Now, as this person reads the poem, they have no choice but to mentally process everything you suggest in the poetry, but if the poetry is somewhat risky, you can put a spin on it that will ensure your safety. This "spin" is part of "the insurance game" that is so often praised in the disguised forms of hypnosis.

After the person is forced to mentally process your suggestions as a result of your poem, you can include an additional paragraph that informs them that this poem was once written by one of your friends to someone whom they had a sizzling relationship with. You can proceed to stack the "spin" with extra hypnotic suggestions that links the person who reads the poem to the person whom your friend originally wrote the poem to in the first place.

The goal of the spin is to get you off the hook should any objections arise to the suggestions that you loaded into the poetry. If, for example, the person would get uncomfortable with what you said, you can easily remind them that you were only telling them of something your friend once wrote. This "spin" will not only guarantee that the person whom you are writing to be comfortable with experiencing the emotions that are loaded into the poetry, but also that they cannot object to anything that you are saying.

"Hypnotic Spins" can also be used to introduce an entirely different topic after the initial suggestions of the poem. So, a distraction strategy is initiated that gives the person reading the poem something else to respond to should they feel uncomfortable with anything you have said. But it doesn't even matter if they felt uncomfortable, because they still must process everything you have said--and this is where the secret arts of mind control come in.

So, your target has the choice to respond to the "spin" and not the romantic poem--even though they mentally processed and experienced the poem nonetheless.

Outdoor Wireless Security Camera: Gotch-ya Covered!

By Leonard Rigsby

Knowing what goes on around your house while you are not home is sometimes necessary to keep people honest. If you have noticed some unfriendly looking characters hanging around or by your house it might be time to invest in something like a wireless outdoor security camera.

Having an outdoor wireless security camera is not only easy to maneuver physically, but the applications that are being made to service these systems are where the real potential of these devices comes from. Using a no wire connection gives you the ability to constantly stay online and get updates for your surveillance software.

This can be a key feature because if you currently have a system in place that is setup to meet the needs of your present furniture or decorative layout you will be able change everything without missing a beat. When you change your arrangement in any way you are sometimes left with different home security signs that will need you to rearrange your surveillance placement.

Home security signs will change and with the ability to connect wirelessly to your surveillance system makes it a cinch to change around. This is one of the many positives that come with using a wireless network.

With the capacity of an outdoor wireless security camera you will be able to use motion detection, night vision, face recognition, and even in some cases speech recognition. This is not to say they are not available to any type of camera but with the use of the wireless signal you are constantly connected to the Internet and can always download programs for free with whatever you would like.

As your home security signs change you can download different programs that will help you keep your camera working at its fullest potential. This is what makes the wireless world so desirable. People who don't understand it just know they want it and it will soon replace hard wire connections in our homes eventually.

If you have recently had an addition installed in your yard whether fence, walkway, windows, or whatever the case may be this will sometimes conflict with the way you have your cameras aligned. Hard wire connections will not allow you to move the location of the camera. You can adjust it a little but nowhere near the capacity of the no-wire connection.

An outdoor wireless security camera is ideal for a homeowner or small business for this reason. Most companies that use CCTV or some other form of surveillance are getting these cameras in place and they are not going to move until the company goes out of business or relocates. Your home is the same way with a hard wire connection and it is one reason we see no wire in such high demand.

Fish Oil For Arthritis Relief

By Peter Bertonich

Arthitis is a word that can terrorize those amongst us that are getting a little older. Arthritis is a condition that affects mainly, though not always, those amongst us a little older than we would like.

Lets have a look at what arthritis is and using fish oil for arthritis relief.

There are many forms of arthritis, over 100 actually . Each differs some from the others, but as a general rule its fair to say that arthritis is a form of inflammation of the joints. Part of a joint can become inflamed, or swollen, and this causes pain and limitation on free movement of the joint. One of the principle causes of arthritis is nutritional problems, as well as stresses on the joints over time by, for example, repeated similar movement.

Nutritional deficiencies or excesses can cause arthritis in several ways. For example chances are youve heard of free radicals. These can damage many parts of your body including your joints and are a result of poor diet and other factors like pollution.

You can combat this by improving your diet to include less processed foods and more fresh fruit and vegetables. This increases the levels of anti oxidants in your body which combats those free radicals.

Arthritis pain is caused by inflammation in the joints. Inflammation is a scourge and some scientists believe that inflammation as we age is one of the prime, if not the prime cause of many of the age related diseases we suffer from over time. Inflammation can cause the formation of chemicals in our bodies and these can eat away at many of our body parts, including parts of our joints.

Lets have a look at the relief of the pain of arthritis using fish oil.

There is in fact a wide range of different health conditions that are helped by fish oils with good Omega 3 fatty acids. These are polyunsaturated fats and these are good for you unlike those "bad" saturated fats.

There are 2 specific Omega 3 fats called EPA and DHA that are particularly good for you. These are good for your heart and other health conditions and there is now a link found by science between arthritis relief and Omega 3 fats EPA and DHA.

And that increasing our intake of fish oils can reduce symptoms and pain from arthritis.

So why would taking more fish oil combat the pain of arthritis? Because fish oil is an excellent way to combat inflammation.

It is known that the use of Omega 3 for rheumatoid arthritis in particular, but also for other forms of arthritis, will significantly reduce pain once the user has been taking the fish oil supplements for a period of time. They do not work like painkillers, and it will take some period of use before the benefits are felt.

This isn't just speculation, it's now established clearly that fish oil does reduce inflammation effectively.

Traditionally sufferers of arthritis have used anti inflammatory drugs like Vioxx and Celebrex. But these can cause significant side effects and Vioxx has in fact been linked to around 140000 cases of heart disease since 1999.

But the use of the best fish oil supplements has positive side effects rather than negative side effects. Taking fish oil supplements is a plus for your health generally for a range of reasons.

Not all fish oil supplements are as good as others though. Visit my website for a free fish oil buyers guide.

Five Things You Should Know About Small Joint Manipulation!

By Al Case

When people watch the Mixed Martial Arts extravaganzas, they watch grown men being twisted into mat slapping broken noodles, and they see all the big one punch knock outs. This is truly amazing and potent and wonderful martial arts, but they are missing the boat. One of those odd, little regulations they have in MMA that not many people pay attention to, you see, is No Small Joint Manipulation.

Now what the heck could be so frightening about small joint manipulations that the monsters of the MMA, with all their limb wrenching prowess and face smashing punches could be afraid of them? I mean, couldn't you just beat the snot out of any fellow who tries this Small Joint Manipulation thing? Shouldn't it be easy to handle somebody who is only attacking, like, your little, itsy bitsy finger?

One thing I discovered, when I first started training in the martial arts, is that if you grab somebody by the fingers, and I would assume Small Joint Manipulation refers expressly to the fingers, the fight is over. If you manage to grab somebody just by one of his little hand worms and bend that finger back, they will go up on their toes, prance around like a drunken ballerina and do what you want, and even follow their little finger, should you throw that finger, say, off a cliff. Isn't that the most strangest and most ridiculous thing you have ever heard?

Another thing you can do with fingers is twist the heck out of them. Grab a couple of fingers and just squeeze and twist them. The fingers will grind, the knuckles will smash into each other, and Mr. Bad Guy will suddenly swirl around in front of you and fall over and you will be able to literally mop up the floor with him.

Another thing you can do with fingers, and this one really is top dog, is press sideways on them. Simply place a thumb on a joint, another finger on the tip of their finger, and press ninety degrees to the normal bend of the joint. Man, this is an instant finger breaker, and Mr. Mugger is going to fall to his knees faster than a sinner on judgement day and pray for mercy.

Here's an insidious little manipulation, dig your fingernail into the base of the cuticle. This is like bamboo shoots up the fingers, the pain is excruciating. Again, Mr. Bad guy will drop to his knees and beg you to leg go.

My favorite small joint manipulation, however, is to catch the fist and compress the tip of a finger, any finger, towards the second joint of that finger. You are bending the finger more than it is meant to bend, and some fool Home Invader is going to be screaming for mercy. This is a hard one to get, but that makes it all the juicier when you do get it.

Fingers are small little sausages with immense potential for hurt. Grab a finger or two and twist, bend too much, bend back, bend sideways, dig your nail into, and somebody is going down quick. Practice a few of these (gently) with a couple of work out partners, and you'll soon know why the big bad boys of the MMA are deathly afraid of a little True Art.

Are Elliptical Trainers a Good Choice When Trying To Lose Weight?

By Amanda Jocks

People are very health conscious and appearance conscious these days. So an elliptical, which is one of the best exercise equipments, would be a welcome addition to everybody's home. As far as there is no space constraints to get one fixed in your home, make sure to go in for one.

The functionality of an elliptical is no different from that of a treadmill. It is used for the same type of exercises i.e. running and walking at adjustable speeds. It is designed in such a way that by exercising on it, all the muscles of the body are properly exercised. At the same time, the machine is designed to ensure that the joints are well protected and remain unharmed.

While exercising on the elliptical is an ideal cardio workout, it does not promote muscle-building. Some models have to be connected to the power to work, while some have built in power arrangements. Yet others may need power supply for the resistance to be adjusted. At an added cost you can also have models with extra features that can restrict exercising to the upper part or lower part of the body.

For those who prefer to have a miniature gym at home, an elliptical trainer is the best bet, because of the cardio workout it gives, and the add-on features it has got. The machine is quite popular with fitness freaks as exercises on an elliptical have no negative effects on joints. And if you opt for a workout where both the upper body and lower body are exercised, the calorie burn out rate is quite high.

An elliptical is designed to allow a wide range of customization, to suit each and every persons separate needs. An elliptical comes in commercial models as well as home models. The former is more expensive, but is sturdier and lasts more than home models. At the end of the day what you buy would depend partly on what you need and what you can afford. You will never regret an investment in an elliptical, as everybody in the family can use it. All you have to do is do some good research before zeroing in on the right model.

The Value Of Having A High Quality Burglar Alarm System

By Jim Samposzi

Each and every family is concerned about securing their household and the importance of protecting their belongings. Today, there's a lot of burglaries, vandalism, murders and other crimes that happen on a daily basis. Home alarm systems provide the functionality or a robust system that sound off if there is an intruder. Without home alarm systems, families would not feel alright with leaving their home unattended or may worry about people coming in while everyone is asleep.

The typical home alarm system consists of a series of sensors (for various rooms) and a base. The sensors are typically wired with low-voltage specifications or a basic RF system. These sensors are made to spot an opened window, open door, or someone moving in the home. The base, or the response device, requires a higher voltage and exists to provide signaling to dispatch police or the alarm company when someone breaks in. These bases have a number of different functions; the perimeter detection systems for buildings, factories, and offices are much more capable and for that are more expensive.

The method of sight of these systems varies greatly in the method in which a breach of security is picked up. One of the most amazing types is the photo-electric motion detector. This type of home alarm system uses infrared beams that create a web of separate infrared beams that the human eye cannot see. If a beam becomes broken by a moving object, the alarm is triggered. This type however, is probably the most expensive and more common to the rich. In addition to the aforementioned kind, there are ultrasonic detectors that detect motion via radio frequencies to bounce off walls and objects in the home; when the frequency changes, because of something moving, the alarm will go off.

Sellers of these kinds of devices and systems offer substantial rebates as far as low monthly costs, low installation costs, or sometimes even free services. In addition to the brake in and theft protection, there are other ones such as water detection that could be added to other standard services to detect local storms. Alike the water detection system, there is also a fire prevention system that can be hooked up to the overall alarm system that is much better than standard smoke detectors.

Most of the time, when a burglar considers breaking into a home with an alarm, he/she will go on to the next home. However, through sophistication, technology, and the internet, some burglars and other criminals can disable some systems. However, as the criminals become more educated, so do the companies that make them. It is suggested that research is done to find out the success rates of intrusion detection of each kind before a family decides on one type over another. Also, it depends on what the person wants to guard or protect , where the house is located, how many people are in the home, and how large the home is. Professionals of such systems would be the most knowledgeable and best to answer questions as to the effectiveness of the various alarm systems on the market.

Successful Team Building

By Bart Icles

These days, it is not unusual for organizations to have work teams and to have these work teams go on team building activities. One can find lots of resources on different team building methods and techniques but there are still those who end up failing in their objectives. It is most sensible for organizations to develop or take on a structure approach for a team building activity to be successful.

There are some key points that managers should remember in developing team building programs. The development of such a program should involve a lot of thorough and structure planning. Plans need to be drawn up, reviewed, and approved before they can be implemented. It is also important that all the people who will be involved in the team building activity must have copies of the plans to ensure that all of them understand the different objectives and how to get there. The progress of the activity must then be monitored against what is included in the plan. Having a well-defined and well-understand plan guarantees that lessons can be learned along the way.

It is also important that participants understand that team building is more than just fun. There is a significant difference between team building and team bonding. Taking a team for a day off from the office and letting them engage in a group activity like paint ball is what we refer to as team bonding - which is not team building. One can claim that this kind of activity can help participants develop as a team. In true team building activities, you will realize that while the group gets closer together, it tends to become less effective.

If you are planning to build team and not to merely bond individuals closer together, then you will definitely need to follow a structured process. You will need to review where you are now, what improvements you would want to achieve, and what developments can the team realistically accomplish. You will then need to decide how long you it will take before you can realize such results.

If you simply desire to get the team closer together, then a team bonding activity remains as the best solution. However, if you have higher expectations than merely a group of individuals who interact closely together, then you definitely need a more structured team building activity. Remember, there is more to making a team than merely just having fun.

Stun Batons, What You Need to Know!

By Sandra Sanders

So recently I doing a little searching online when I came across a few things I thought would interest people. I am big on self defense and have been looking for some awesome self defense weapons, that is until I came across the almighty stun batons.

While I was looking at the stun batons I noticed that there were tons of them to choose from. I liked how there were so many different styles and shapes.

Did you know that stun batons come in as many voltages as other self defense weapons do? They range from small voltages to large voltages.

Have you ever heard the phrase you get what you pay for? Well if you have then realize that that same exact phrase applies to stun batons. They are really not that expensive but they aren't that cheap because most of them are quality.

The best part about the whole stun baton thing was that I could buy them online. I didnt have to travel all over Gods green earth to get them and I could have it shipped which meant saving gas.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stun baton when I received it in the mail. The sleek look coupled with the power enabled me to feel a lot safer when it came to going outside or being by myself.

If you are going to buy a self defense weapon I suggest you do the right thing and but some stun batons. They are easy to use and fairly inexpensive. You get what you pay for so make sure your not cheap when it comes to picking the right stun batons.

My suggestion though is that you buy yours online. There are so many to choose from and you can do it from the privacy of your own home. Also remember once again, when buying anything including stun batons, make sure you remember that you get what you pay for.

Learn Modern Self Defense Techniques

By Steve Thibeault

It is difficult to understand why people do not like to talk about the subject of self-defense and actually shy away from it as if it were taboo. In the world that we live in, it is important to accept that we often find ourselves in dangerous surroundings and for their own good, we should make sure that our children are well versed in modern self-defense.

Way back in history, the human race learned to defend itself rather well as people would have to defend themselves from attacks by neighboring tribes and so on. If we fast forward to today, we don't have to worry about attacks of this nature, but individuals still seem intent on depriving us of our belongings and we still need to be ready for any eventuality.

The same principle applies whether we're talking about ancient or modern self-defense. Preparation is everything and it is cool to see young children participating in karate or kung fu training at neighborhood establishments. In reality, it ought to be a condition that appropriate hand-to-hand defense is taught in our schools, so that everyone is ready should anything untoward take place.

We do not live in an ideal world and sometimes we find ourselves in a potentially vulnerable situation, maybe alone at night in a questionable environment. As modern self-defense devices are readily available and suitable for all generations from the very young to the very old, you can always be prepared for these situations.

Thank goodness that we do not have to behave like the ancient generations, who had to resort to lethal force when trying to defend themselves. We might consider ourselves more civilized and certainly it seems that if we show that we are willing to fight back, this can often disarm a situation. American citizens have the right to bear arms to defend themselves, but a nonlethal outcome is obviously more palatable.

Modern self-defense devices are excellent deterrents. For example, if you use a simple pepper spray you can cause considerable upset and discomfort to an attacker with no permanent harm, allowing you to escape and summon assistance.

Modern self defense technology gives us the option of carrying a taser, which when pressed against the attacker discharges a very large electrical current and will certainly immobilize him. As the majority of would-be attackers are really after our belongings, lethal force is not appropriate, but the taser can get the job done for you.

Don't live in fear of attack at any time during your life. Just make sure that you school yourself in the variety of ancient and modern self-defense options available to you.

Surveillance At The Turn Of The Century

By Michael Scott

Surveillance changed very slowly prior to the September 11th attacks on the U.S. Enemy combatants were easily defined by geographical location making surveillance a kind of hack that target science.

Al Qaeda was a new kind of enemy. It is an enemy based on religious ideology and as such, can survive and reproduce across geographical borders.

To conduct surveillance, a new kind of technology had to be developed.

Has the U.S. Intelligence community adapted to the Al Qaeda threat since the 9/11 attacks?

Does the CIA now recruit agents in Arabic instead of Russian? Does the CIA recruit people who are of Mediterranean or Arab decent instead of German, Chinese, or Russian?

What about the rumor that the CIA has been replaced by a new top secret agency whose name is unknown?

Even if we reason that the NSA's surveillance program is still going, is it really effective at gathering surveillance on an enemy that is made up of dispersed cell networks?

Who is training the new generation of western spies and how are they doing it?

With the Oil trade, we know that the CIA has been recruiting Arabic speakers for many years now. There may be a greater demand for them now, but they've always been recruiting people of Arab decent. I think 9/11 probably changed the allocation of Russian, Chinese, German, and Arabic language agents.

Current espionage and surveillance is different from what it was during the cold war (which ended around 1990). Keep in mind that in adaptation, knowledge builds upon knowledge and is seldom completely discarded. For example, in the cold war, agents were trained on various bug planting devices and how to plant them. Today, the CIA has a bug that looks like a real bug, that flies like a real bug and the training involves how to fly this bug into position. So the basic process of needing to secretly "listen in" is the same, but the technology available to achieve this surveillance continues to change and improve in all sorts of ways.

Probably the biggest change in espionage is the realization that one needs to "continually evolve" both in operational terms as well as technological. It is a race between countries to adapt faster than your opponent because he who adapts the quickest is most likely to achieve the desire results.

Also keep in mind that terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda have very limited resources in terms of technology, financial funding, and human resources. This means that they are far less effective at executing counter-espionage techniques than say the USSR is.

Delta Force and Black Ops are not really surveillance gathering Intelligence agencies but are instead classified as operational branches of the military. These special branches of the military have adaptive technology that allows weapons that such oxygen from caves or guide bombs to a needle point. Commando style tactics are effective against terrorist infrastructure. These operational branches can only be effective if the primary intelligence given to this is accurate. This is where I see the big challenge today, effective surveillance technology and espionage.

Take Self Defense Advice Seriously

By Steve Thibeault

If you want to lift your mood, confidence and spirit in general then you should consider practicing the art of self-defense. While many say that this is a requirement in our modern times, those who advocate it see it is a way of achieving balance and many other benefits. Advocates see aggression as a bad thing.

Those who study history know that ancient Chinese culture focuses a lot on martial arts. These practices were able to allow someone to disarm an attacker who may have appeared to be stronger or larger but in reality was more vulnerable. The goal was quick resolution through a swift attack toward the vulnerable body parts of the opponent. Always try and switch the advantage in your favor. Today, many young people prepare for our violent world and take self-defense classes.

If you take self-defense as a very important part of your life, you will know that you have an inner feeling of self-confidence that comes from the knowledge that you are essentially secure from any attack. Very few active protagonists actually practice their skills because they don't have to. Often they just need to advise a potential attacker that they practice the skills and this is sufficient.

As you exercise, chemicals known as endorphins are released into your system which give you a good feeling. If you take self-defense lessons, this is a form of exercise and you will get the same feeling. Also, you will able to create a great bond with others around you.

If you take self-defense seriously you will be able to capitalize on the benefits in all areas of your life. Ancient self-defense teaches us peace and calmness as essential elements and you can use the lessons learned as you uncover the various techniques to help your daily life, be it at home, in school or at work.

You must take self-defense seriously, wherever you live in this violent world. The ancient Chinese gave us the ninja and today we are still able to use some of their attack and defense weapons. While many of these items are used in games and social activities, they are still able to be used to defend yourselves in certain situations.

Do not worry if you are quite frail, older or not very athletic as you do not always have to engage in physical acts of self-defense. You do not need to be particularly agile to use pepper spray, tasers or stun guns and will instead prompt your attacker to become agile by running the other way!

You don't have to take self-defense to any extremes but always be aware of your surroundings and your situation. Whatever you think you need, there are great self-defense tools available to help you.

Install Decorative Shutters Before You Sell Your Home

By Maddy Retert

Decorative shutters provide no real use other than to look good so why would anyone put them on their house? The reason is that putting this kind of shutter on the exterior of a house is an inexpensive way to quickly spruce things up and make a house look better. In this time of depressed house values, anything to make your house look better and maintain its value is a smart decision.

Decorative shutters are just what their name implies: they are for decoration only. They are very easy to install because they have no moving parts and yet they look exactly like the real thing. Right now shutters are a popular trend because people like the way they look and they are an easy way to set your house apart from all the neighbors houses.

If you want to do the job right, you can even buy decorative shutters with special hinges that are made out of nickel, brass, copper, or cast iron and can be finished in any number of desired styles. These metal hinges may be finished to look like they came from any architectural era and made to match the type of shutter you have on your house.

Selling a house in todays environment is difficult and most likely will continue to be throughout 2009 and 2010. Anyone wanting to raise their chances of selling their house in a timely manner in this economy needs to think of ways to improve their chances of interesting a buyer. If done right, decorative shutters will help and might even give your house the wow factor when compared to others in its price range.

Modern Self Defense Options Help You Prepare

By Steve Thibeault

For some reason, as a society we tend to stray away from broaching the subject of self-defense as if it were something that we understand to be necessary but would rather not talk about. This may be because we think that we live in a civilized world, yet in reality we should be ready for all eventualities and should ensure that our children are schooled in modern self-defense tactics.

Ancient or modern self-defense tactics rely on the same principle. You must be prepared. It is gratifying to see an increase in the number of facilities that teach martial arts training and to watch the horde of kids dressed appropriately for kung fu or karate training in attendance. It is unfortunate that the majority of the population is not schooled in such hand-to-hand defense as well and may not be prepared should something untoward happen.

Modern self-defense devices are available to every member of society from the very young to the very old. We often find that from time to time we need to travel alone, sometimes at night and sometimes within an environment that may be considered dangerous. We should always ensure that we are prepared.

Ancient populations used to resort to lethal combat when defending themselves, but these days we do not need to be as aggressive as that. Often it is sufficient to show what you're willing to defend yourself, which will often ward off a perpetrator. Americans have the right to bear arms to defend themselves, but it is better to go for nonlethal results.

What Is The Fish Oil Heart Disease Link?

By Peter Bertonich

No doubt exists now that there is a clear link between intake of Omega 3 fats found in fish oil and preventing some heart disease problems.

Even the American Heart Association recognizes the fish oil heart disease prevention link. And they list the heart health benefits on their websites.

And of course that's all good for your heart. It helps prevent heart related problems, and keep your heart healthier than it would otherwise be. It shows a clear fish oil heart disease prevention link.

But what about people who already have heart problems? Is there a fish oil heart disease treatment link? Can fish oil help treat existing heart problems?

The Journal of the American College of Cardiology has just published a study combining the results of 4 different studies of around 40000 people. And they show a clear Omega 3 heart disease link, showing that more fish oils and Omega 3 oils can indeed help in treatment for existing heart problems.

This is also recognized by the AHA, they recommend minimum levels of Omega 3 dietary intake on their website, and for those people with existing heart problems the minimum level is double that recommended for people with no preexisting, or known, cardio vascular problems.

The results are on the website of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and are summarized as:

"Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid therapy continues to show great promise in primary and, particularly in secondary prevention of cardiovascular (CV) diseases. The most compelling evidence for CV benefits of -3 PUFA comes from 4 controlled trials of nearly 40,000 participants randomized to receive eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) with or without docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in studies of patients in primary prevention, after myocardial infarction, and most recently, with heart failure."

So clearly there is a fish oil heart disease link including for the treatment of existing cardio vascular disease.

Anyone with pre existing cardio vascular problems should, however, consult a doctor before starting any supplements.

For those who are beginning to look for good Omega 3 supplements its worth reading my website where I have an article about this.

And for the amount to take? The study concludes recommending 500 mg per day for those with normal health, and 800 to 1000 mg per day for those with known cardio vascular issues. But there is no conclusion as to the relative amounts of DHA to EPA.

And the AHA make similar recommendations on their website.

So if you're getting serious about your heart health, both present and future, you may well find that taking some fish oil supplements daily could be one of the best things you could do. Your life may depend on it.

Find out more about Omega 3 fish oil supplements on my website.

Lesnar To Put UFC Heavyweight Crown On Line Against Carwin

By Ross Everett

Brock Lesnar will make his first defense of the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 106 against another college wrestling standout, Shane Carwin. The event will take place at Las Vegas Mandalay Bay Events Center on November 21st.

Lesnar defeated Randy Couture at UFC 91 to become heavyweight champion, and avenged an early defeat to Interim heavyweight champion Frank Mir at UFC 100 to unify the belts. Lesnar, a former WWE pro wrestling superstar, has enjoyed a meteoric rise to the top of the UFC heavyweight ranks"his defense against Carwin will be only his sixth professional fight.

Making this matchup very intriguing is the fact that Carwin has the size and strength to match up with Lesnar. Carwin is also 63 and has to cut to the heavyweight limit of 265 pounds. Working in Carwins favor is his relative experience (hes 11-0) and an excellent training infrastructure provided by Greg Jackson, considered by many to be the best trainer in the sport.

Much of the promotion for the fight will revolve around the personality differences of the two men. Lesnar became the biggest heel in the UFC with an unsportsmanlike display following his UFC 100 victory. While much of this is good old fashioned fight promotion with a dose of pro wrestling theatrics, its polarized the UFC fanbase with fans either loving his antics or hoping that someone will be able to shut him up.

Carwin, on the other hand, is one of the more likably humble fighters in the sport. He earned a degree in engineering from the Colorado College of Mines and until recently worked fulltime as an engineer while pursuing his fighting career. Hes been highly critical of Lesnars behavior ever since UFC 100, and depending on who you ask may also have some personal animosity that goes beyond that. At any rate, its the sort of storyline that makes for box office and PPV gold.

Dana White announced the matchup with the following statement:

Brock is ready to go now and wants to fight. Carwin makes the most sense. Gonzaga destroyed Cro Cop and he (Carwin) totally destroyed Gonzaga. Plus, he hates Brock Lesnar. Its going to be two huge guys going at it. Hes got the power to knock anybody out and hes got great wrestling, too. Hes one of the guys that has the size to match up with Brock, too.

With two fighters that are physically and tactically mirror images of the other, anything can literally happen. Carwin is a definite threat to take the UFC heavyweight title.

Losing Weight Over 40: Four Simple Workouts For People Over 40

By Scott Fisher

You may be putting off that over 40 exercise program because you are nervous. You worry that you could get hurt doing aerobics or jogging. Maybe you have been to the gym, but were intimidated by all of the other people who were in far better shape than you. Perhaps you find strenuous activity too uncomfortable. If you let these things intimidate you, you are risking your health and life. However, there are easier steps you can take that will get you started on the path to fitness.

One of the easiest and most effective exercises is walking. Your goal for this kind of exercise should be to elevate your heartbeat for 30 minutes. No matter how far or fast you walk, keep it up for at least 30 minutes. Each week, try to walk a little bit further in the same amount of time. Each week, you will get stronger and faster until you are ready to start a light jog.

Bicycling is a great alternative to walking because it is lower impact and you can do it with others. You do not need to spend a lot on a bike, just find one that is comfortable for you. You can also use a stationary bike, but may be more motivated by the changing scenery of a bicycle. Many are using recumbent cross training machines which are like a cycling machine but also train your upper body.

You should always start your over 40 exercise routine at your comfort level. If you are not ready for a run or a bike ride, start with simpler exercises. This will increase your chances of success and help you prevent injury. Also, easy exercises help you prepare your body for more intense activity.

You can even sit at your desk or on a couch and still continue your exercises. Leg lifts, especially with the added resistance of ankle weights, build muscle and prepare you for greater activity. Two or five pound weights can be used to perform curls, which strengthens your upper body. These kinds of activity will help prepare you for more intensity like a brisk walk or light aerobics.

Your local pool may offer water aerobics or aquatic classes. These exercises are easy on your joints and prepare you for a more intense workout. Water resistance makes simple movements twice as effective. Also, you can use foam dumbbells and aqua belts to increase resistance even further.

Pedometers are a great way to track your activity level and increase your fitness over 40. After wearing a pedometer for a week, you will be able to see when you are most sedentary and improve. For example, if you are often inactive at work, then try to avoid the elevator, park a few more spaces away from the door, and talk a walk around the corner at lunch.

You should not be intimidated. Walking, biking, or simple sitting exercises are very easy ways to begin an over 40 exercise program at your pace. You should never let worry keep you from a longer, healthier life.

The Ultimate Street Fighter: Kimbo Slice

By Ross Everett

While its debatable that the UFC has the best heavyweight in mixed martial arts, they may soon have the most famous. Dana White announced recently that Kimbo Slice will be a contestant on season 10 of the UFCs MMA reality show The Ultimate Fighter. A good performance there could see him get a shot at fighting for the promotion.

In the past, Dana White has dismissed Slice and suggested that the only way hed ever fight in the UFC is by winning The Ultimate Fighter. Kimbo will get the opportunity to do just that and could deliver the highest rated season in series history. For Kimbo (real name Kevin Ferguson) it is yet another strange twist in his bizarre career as a professional fighter. Slice first made his name fighting in non-sanctioned street fights to supplement his income as a bodyguard for a Miami based adult film production company. At some point, Kimbos entourage started bringing video cameras to his fights and the footage found its way onto the Internet.

Kimbo quickly became an online cult hero before he officially turned pro as a fighter. He began to train under MMA legend Bas Rutten, and his meteoric rise to superstardom was underway. Not long after, he signed with EliteXC and they quickly made Kimbo the centerpiece of their promotion. While building a MMA promotion around a fighter with almost no experience likely led to their downfall, at the time Kimbo became a media sensation and Elite XC parlayed his popularity into a prime time network TV deal with CBS.

Things started out fine for Kimbo as he made short work out of his first three overmatched opponents. Kimbos fourth fight was originally scheduled to be against former UFC mainstay Ken Shamrock, but due to a last minute injury he eventually faced substitute Seth Petruzelli. Petruzelli caught Kimbo with a perfectly placed counter right hook and knocked him out. That was the beginning of the end for Elite XC, and the promotion was out of business in a matter of weeks.

Since then, Kimbo kept a fairly low profile. He's since parted with trainer Bas Rutten who intimated that Kimbo had let his newfound celebrity go to his head. UFC president Dana White would occasionally be asked if hed ever have an interested in Kimbo, which hed dismiss with the offhanded suggestion that the only way hed fight in the UFC was to compete in The Ultimate Fighter reality show.

While its unclear when that off-handed dismissal by White became a viable reality, but regardless of how the deal came together Kimbo will be a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter. Its really a no-lose proposition for the UFC"if Kimbo doesnt do well, they were right all along and if he *does* do well they can make some money with him. In any case, the media coverage and ratings for their MMA reality show will likely be at an all time high.

The Truth About your Body and Karate

By Al Case

Some guy looks like an elephant, another guy looks like a twig, another guy is lifting weights like they are going out of style. Some guy is working on speed, another guy is working on power, and another guy is working on technique. And the question here is...what is the best type of body to have in the martial arts

Do you want a body that is hard with muscle, and so strong that if it gets hit it doesn't matter? Do you want a body that is lithe and lean and able to flex out of any situation? What is the best kind of body you can have in the martial arts?

The solution lies in comparing and contrasting types and attributes. A body with lots of muscle has fast strength, but it is usually short on endurance. Carrying those muscles around costs something in the length of energy.

A body that is too lean has speed and flexibility, but sometimes you need weight and mass to make a punch potent. A punch depends upon transferring weight, you see, and the punch will suffer if the body doesn't have the weight. The trade off here is that if your body is lean and lithe you can increase your speed, which will increase weight, but that does not always work in a fighting situation.

So this is what I want you to do to solve the conundrum. First, give up all fast food and soda drinks. This stuff is pure killer, and that is easily proven if you just look at the people coming out of the doors of your local hamburgery.

Second, give up all bread, pasta, and that type of food. Your body doesn't digest synthetic material easily, and the stuff tends to congest and congeal and make the body fat. Really, avoid anything that is manufactured.

Okay, you're saving truckloads of money by eating veggies with a bit of protein every day. The protein could be hamburger patties, portions of chicken, turkey, fish, and so on. Red meat should be rationed out gently.

What you are going to observe is the weight will drop off easily and smoothly. Your body is going to become lean and muscled and last long and have tons of extra energy, and this will start happening almost overnight, at the least, you will notice differences within a week or two. Combine this with your martial arts work out and you will shortly find that your body begins to assume the perfect shape, bulk, mass, speed, and everything else, for you are now eating what nature designed for it.
