The Five Steps of Matrix Aikido

By Al Case

I encountered much opposition when putting together Matrix Aikido. People claimed I was being disrespectful to the founder of Aikido and to Aikidoists everywhere. The truth is that I am paying the greatest respect to Aikido, and people understand this when they see the five steps necessary to Matrix Aikido.

In learning Matrix Aikido the first step is that you must not resist your opponent. This classical concept proves that my methodology does not deviate from classical concepts. When the attacker comes in, you must not resist, you must not resist, you must go with, and if you do this then he will not be able to resist your entering his technique.

The concept of not resisting has a second part, and it is to not resist yourself. This concept, interestingly enough, does not have to be explained to a student. When a person stops resisting an opponent he stops resisting himself as part of the procedure.

In learning Matrix Aikido the second concept is that you must learn to mirror your attacker's moves. This means that if he steps forward with the specific foot and punches with a specific hand, you should step forward with a specific foot and a specific hand and make your technique work by blending with him. What is absolutely fascinating is that it doesn't matter which foot or hand is presented, or which you respond with,, mirroring can be made to work easily.

The third concept in Matrix Aikido evolves naturally from the second, and it is learning how to take charge. By not resisting one can perceive, by perceiving, one can mirror, and by mirroring, one can take charge of the action. This is a crucial step in Matrix Aikido, as it involves very real changes to the student's psyche.

To become your opponent is the fourth concept if you wish to learn Matrix Aikido. When you do not resist the technique you do not resist the person. Learning to love your enemies is a cornerstone of Aikido and a very spiritual level.

To actually become Aikido is the fifth concept if you wish to learn Matrix Aikido. As you understand how not to resist, and thus how to blend and merge with an opponent, you learn how to not resist the art itself. This is a very special universe which is beyond the perception of normal human beings, yet it is a realm to which all mankind should aspire.

In conclusion, this universe is built upon strife, conflict, and the never ending contention between mankind. Yet, it does not have to be this way. The True Way, whether through the decades it takes to learn Classical Aikido, or the months it takes to learn Matrix Aikido, is open to the man or woman who opens their heart to this very special reality.

The Image Sensors of a Camera

By Joe Morphe

Your outdoor security camera uses a light sensor to create an image from the light entering through the lens. The light sensor is made up of many pixels which determine how much light is coming through and generates the corresponding number of electrons. Brighter lights generate more electrons per pixel. When it comes to image sensor technology, there are two main types.

These two types are the charge-coupled device, or CCD, and the complementary metal-oxide semiconductor, or CMOS. And despite being viewed as rivals in the camera industry, each type of image sensor really has its own strengths and weaknesses. So the better sensor depends on the situation it is to be used in.

CCD sensors were developed specifically for the camera industry while CMOS traces it's beginnings to standard technology already in use in areas such as memory chips inside PCs. Today, modern CMOS sensors are advancing in technology and the quality is improving immensely.

CCD sensors are still slightly better in light sensitivity and produce cleaner images than CMOS sensors. Because of higher light sensitivity, the CCD produces sharper images in low light conditions than CMOS sensors.

The downside is that CCD sensors are more expensive and harder to build into a camera. Also, a CCD sensor uses much more power, almost 100 times more, than the equivalent CMOS sensor.

With the CMOS sensor, it is very quickly closing the gap in terms of image quality to the CCD sensor. Cameras that are built with CMOS sensors are lower in cost because the cameras are much easier to build.

The CMOS sensors allow for much more integration possibilities and functions than the CCD could. It also has a faster readout which is important when you get into megapixels and require less energy and a smaller system size. You will find megapixel CMOS cameras much more than a megapixel CCD sensor simply because of the cost differentiation.

When it comes to megapixel sensors in cameras, the sensors themselves are about the same size or only slightly larger than traditional VGA sensors. This means that the size of each pixel is smaller. So while the megapixel camera can provide higher resolution and greater detail, it is less light sensitive since the pixel size is smaller and light reflected from an object is spread to more pixels.

Five Steps to Learn Matrix Aikido

In putting together Matrix Aikido I encountered much opposition. People said I was being disrespectful to the founder of Aikido and to Aikido. The second concept in learning Matrix Aikido is that you must learn to mirror your attacker's moves. In the beginning, this means that if he steps forward with the right foot and punches with the right hand, you step forward with the right foot and the right hand in order to blend with him and make your technique work. The odd thing is that the concept of mirroring can be done with either side, the right or the left, regardless of whether the attacker attacks with the right or the left.

St Louis Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: You Want to Find a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu School

By Kathleen P. Williamson

One of the finest forms of Jiu Jitsu is the kind known as Brazilian because it contains a wide range of moves, including wrestling moves and chokes. This type of Jiu Jitsu has as its background traditional jiu-jitsu, also known as jujutsu, which is a form of martial arts developed by the Gracie brothers in the early 1900's.

In the '70's, however, Rolls Gracie improved it further with important guarding positions to it. Since he himself was small, he worked on this technique to allow smaller practicers to use leverage as an advantage against larger opponents. It has continued to be improved by other experts into the form it is today, one which is responsible for the birth and development of the Ultimate Fighting Championships.

If you want to study this form of training, it is important to find the right school.Research all of the schools in your area that offer Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Visit them and go to the classes to see what goes on there.

Evaluate an instructor's technique. Is the teacher just a model that the class is told to imitate? Or does the instructor break down the technique and explain it in detail?

Many people are great at what they do, but cannot pass that information on to others. In addition, many schools, especially the larger ones, may break classes down by age or experience bracket. May sure you check out the class that applies to you.

Then you should have a talk with the head of the institute. In any reputable school these individuals should be willing to openly discuss your potential instruction. Learn what his or her qualifications are and if they belong to any professional organizations.

Brazilian Jui Jitsu is a special skill, and its teachers must understand its history and the features of its style that make it unique.

Most instructors of Jiu Jitsu do not know enough about these unique features to be able to teach it properly. You should next attempt to discuss the school with current students. This will be a great help in deciding upon the school.

See if they like the style of teaching and the proficiency of the instructors and if they seem eager about their classes. Also, notice the cleanliness of the school. Picking the right Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school is a matter of personal preference, and choosing the wrong one can turn you off from the sport.

Doing this research will not take long and you will learn a great deal. This is the only true way to find the right school.

St Louis Kickboxing: How to Choose a Mixed Martial Arts School

By Kathleen P. Williamson

There is not much that is complicated about the concept of mixed marshal arts. Different types of martial arts taught at the same school. You can choose between the many forms of martial arts, like taekwondo or jiu-jitsu.

This is a great idea because there are so various different types of martial arts. Especially if you are not familiar with each, choosing the right one can be confusing.

A mixed martial arts studio can give you an overview and insight. This type of help will be extremely valuable in choosing the right martial arts for you. Don't forget that any good martial arts training will afford you the benefit of physical conditioning, personal confidence and self defense skills.

Which type of martial art will be a matter of personal taste. Learn which martial arts studios in your area offer mixed martial arts.

Then proceed to check them out in person. By watching the process, you will gain better insight into the forms and various styles that incorporate the different arts. The instruction method of the school is very important.

Pay attention to how the teacher runs each class. Does s/he just demonstrate to the pupils and expect them to follow by rote? Or does the instructor demonstrate and explain each piece of a move so the student understands?

Many people who are great at what they do are not the best teachers because they are not able to explain things properly. Observing a class will allow you to find out their teaching style.

The next thing you should do is to talk to the owner or chief instructor. Make sure he can find the time to explain everything about his programs to you. Don't be against him if he can't however; he may be a really teacher anyway.

This is a very competitive sport. If you don't like the concept of physical contact, talk about this: perhaps martial arts is not your sport. There may be a way you can compete or they can put your mind at ease. If you see that the students are very happy and eager about their lessons, you probably have hit uponfound a great school.

Make sure you do this homework to find the best school, otherwise you may end up disliking martial arts altogether. Do some careful research and ask questions. You'll know the right one when you do.| This is the only way you will find the right school.| When you make this effort, you will be sure to find the perfect school.| It will all be worthwhile.

How to Be Tough!

By Al Case

Back in the day we were tough! We pounded telephone poles until we had enormous calluses! We took hammers and beat our shins, and we supported our local dentist!

One time a fellow I knew went to a tournament. During the course of the tournament his fingers were jammed so that the second knuckle was back on top of the third bone. He laughed, pulled it out, put it back in place, and kept going!

But my favorite occurrence, however, was the time a friend of mine named Dave decided to go on a television show. He was opening a karate school in town, and he knew that a little local programming could go a long way. His big mistake was in asking Bruce to help him out.

Yes, said Dave, we believe in hard work and virtue. No, children who study karate dont start getting in fights, they start looking for ways to avoid them. Yes, discipline and building character is what the martial arts are all about.

He should have mentioned humor. A while later Dave and Bruce began to show their karate. They did self defense and kata, and a little freestyle, then it was time for breaking.

And now, said Bruce to the television audience, Dave is going to break two boards with a punch. After the sounds of shattering wood had subsided: And now Dave is going to break three boards with a kick. Kiai and...smash!

All was going extremely well. They had done the last break and Dave planned on finishing the demonstration, but right in the middle of his bow Bruces voice came over the air again. Dave will now break two boards with a spearhand.

Dave couldnt break two boards with a spear thrust! He had never even tried that break! But he was on TV with thousands and thousands of viewers watching!

AIAI! The boards were broken with apparent ease. As were the bones in Daves hands.

But Dave was a trouper. He even shook hands with everybody on the way out of the studios. He didnt show a grimace or groan, and nobody knew he went straight to the hospital.

Later, Dave questioned Bruce as to why he had set him up like that. Bruce gave an interesting response? I just knew it was going to be funny!

How Lifelock Works?

By Jean Nicholson

Lifelock is involved whenever there are instances where you accomplish an application form or information sheet, as the case may be, for whatever reasons it may be -- school, employment, bank account, credit, loan, mortgage, insurance plan, or any other identifying documents. This will require you to indicate your full name, mother's full maiden name (usually for banks and financing institutions), date of birth, social security number, tax identification number, and other sensitive personal information (SPI).

Any sensitive personally identifiable information (PII) such as social security number (SNN), alien registration number (A-Number), biometric identifiers, drivers license number, bank account, citizenship or immigration status, and medical data leading to the identity of a person, may end up to ruining your credibility if it falls into wrong hands such as crooked individuals like identity thieves.

All these information are data elements, which are created based on certain standards with distinct connotation, values or units. And these are necessary information for identification, particularly for banking use, which would permit access to the customers account.

A biometric identifier is something unique in a person that separates him or her from other individuals, like the fingerprints. It is the most unique identifier of a person. No two people in this whole wide world have the same fingerprints not even twins. Take note, however, that not all PII is sensitive, such as those found on a business card or in a public phone directory, because it is intended to be publicized.

A lifelock is like a safety lock to your identity, that once it is unlocked, referring to the release of sensitive personal identifiable information, a part of your lifes deepest secret and most treasured entity becomes vulnerable to all the elements surrounding your existence. A stolen identity always leads to a badly beaten, shattered, broken ego which is the hardest thing to repair causing the victim to experience sleepless nights, moral shock, besmirched reputation and deeply wounded feelings that will take some time to heal. Time heals wounded feelings but always leaves a deep scar within the person.

We all have respective identities and this makes us who and what we are. Every person is unique and distinct in his or her characteristics and this could be stolen anytime, anywhere. It can be used for countless ways without the knowledge of the victim.

Apparently, to keep our identity as safe as possible is a primordial consideration, for such to be kept unblemished or untarnished. If you feel you need such protection, just search online for private agencies that specialize in the protection of your identity against identity thieves. To sum it all up, whether the information if sensitive PII or not, all these constitute your Lifelock.

A Few Questions to Answer Before Buying a Massage Chair

By Jim M Knowlan

If you are interested in a massage chair, we offer some practical questions you should answer before you start your research. Massage chairs are big ticket items, so you want to take your time and find the right massage chair for you. To help you before you even start looking, we have posed some important questions for your consideration to help guide your massage chair research.

Who will be utilizing the Massage Chair? You want to think about who the primary users of the massage chair are going to be. You need to think about if they have certain areas of aches and pains or if there are areas you really want to target. Also, add the height and weight of the individuals on the list. It is important to find a massage chair that will fit the body types of the main users. Get a good idea of what needs the massage chair needs to satisfy.

Where would you put the Massage Chair? This is always an interesting dilemma for most folks. Everyone can agree on getting a massage recliner, but now where are we going to put it. First, you need to look at the dimensions of the chair when it is fully reclined and the foot rest is fully extended. This is the maximum dimensions of the footprint. Next, you need to determine if the chair will add to or subtract from a certain room. There are some beautiful designs and there are some ugly designs and of course many in the middle. You have to see what room makes the most sense for your situation.

What functions are important in a Massage Chair? To figure out the functions that you truly need in your massage chair, first think about the areas that bother you most. Then think about your lifestyle and what potential areas do you need to plan for in the future. If you do a lot of computer work, for example, you may need something to relieve the early signs of carpal tunnel syndrome. Think about the environment you need for relaxation. Maybe you want an MP3 player so you can control what you hear, so you can relax. Do you want heat in your chair? How about a traction function to stretch parts of your body?

What should be my budget for a Massage Chair? This is always a difficult subject. There is the situation where you can only afford so much and the decision makes itself. Otherwise, it really is based on what you want out of your massage chair and are you looking at a short term and low cost purchase or a long term and potentially higher cost purchase. You can get a massage chair for as low as $500, below this you get a vibrating chair. On the other hand, you can spend up to $12,000. However, most high end chairs in the $4,000 to $5,000 range will be very effective for your needs.

What warranty information do I need to know? Remember that the warranty coverage is similar to getting insurance. You hope you never need it, but just in case, you have it. Just make sure that you have some level of coverage and you get a good feeling that the company will actually honor the warranty. We have seen too many people buy a cheap chair loaded with features and been promised comprehensive warranty-only to find that company out of business. You want to go with a recognized national brand like Sanyo, Omega, Panasonic, etc.

We truly hope that these questions will help guide you to finding the perfect massage chair for your needs. You are making an investment in your health and well being, so take your time. Do the research and learn what you can. A little knowledge goes a long way in cutting through the maze of massage chairs and navigating to an excellent choice. If you do it right, you will have years of relaxation and harmony with your new massage chair.

Karate, Tigers, and You!!

By Al Case

Don't ever try to eat anything that's got bigger teeth than you. I know that's not much when it comes to words of wisdom, but there is a certain undeniable truth here. Such as when a student starts to complain that he is tired.

"Al, I'm tired." I looked at the youngster and knew that he wasn't tired, he was just being childish. The problem was that he had chosen to do so right in the middle of my karate class.

When one of these hopes for our future stops my class for such foolishness I am not particularly pleased. I am suddenly beset by the desire to pick up that large stick with a nail in it that I keep in the corner of my dojo and...but I don't. Instead, I make them listen to the story of the tiger, which is an interesting tale from another culture.

Two monks were walking through the jungle one day. One was young and one was old. The younger one said, "Can't we stop--I'm tired!"

"Not yet," said the older monk. The old monk moved a little faster. He wasn't in the mood to hear complaints from the younger generation.

"I can't go on. I'm too tired to walk. I'm stopping," and the younger monk sat down at the side of the trail and began to fan himself.

"We'll never make it to the next temple if you insist on stopping. Get up and let's continue!" The older monk commanded the younger man, but his words had no effect.

"No. I'm just too tired!" The younger monk kept fanning himself.

The older monk, seeing a tiger sleeping in the bamboo, picked up a rock and threw it at the tiger. The tiger jumped up and chased the two monks. The monks ran like...well...like a tiger was after them.

The monks ran and ran and ran, and finally the tiger slowed down. When they were safely away the younger monk turned to the older monk. "Why'd you throw the rock at that tiger?"

The older monk laughed. "I guess you weren't really all that tired after all." The younger monk finally recognizing superior wisdom, began to laugh, too.

There is a bit of wisdom to be had from such a story as this. The monks, you see, were running for their very lives. The tiger, on the other hand was only running for a little dinner.

And here come my words of wisdom. Is every day like a run for your life? Or are you one of these fellows that believes everything has bigger teeth that you?

Oh, yes, and that child in my class who complains about being tired? If he still acts tired after I tell him the story about the tiger and the monks...I get out the stick. And the nail in the end is really quite sharp and wicked!

A Guide to Learning Martial Arts by DVD!

By Al Case

It is possible to learn the martial arts by DVD. There are, however, several things you should be aware of when shopping for a DVD. These items can make the difference between a learned art, and something laying on the sidewalk that you shouldn't touch.

First you have to decide which martial art you wold like to study. This is easy if you have a little experience, pursuing something you already have experience in is always going to be easier. You need to consider several things, however, if you don't have experience.

One, is the art one that you can study alone? Or, do you have a work out partner you can study with if it can't be studied alone. Martial Arts showing forms are easily studied alone, and can be perfected in your living room, with the occasional help of a friend, but Aikido, on the other hand, demands a partner for nearly every single move.

Pay attention to the instructor when you are looking for a martial arts DVD. I know he's famous...but can Mr. Action Star get his idea across on video? Does he present the ideas in concise method and show you what they really mean?

When inspecting the DVD, whether on line or in a store, take a look and see what, exactly, is being offered. There are many different formats for teaching, and when dealing with a whole art, you must be careful. Obviously, look for beginner, intermediate, or advanced, depending on what you are.

Now, are you being offered a strict diet of forms? Applications are nice to have, and even a few minutes of actual fighting will help you see the progression from forms to application to applications in the real world. Forms can be great, but if you can't see what they really mean, they can be next to worthless.

Take a close look at how Mr. Action Star is going to teach the material. If he is showing one form, and making the proud claim that you will be able to see his every move from eight angles at slow mo...pass on it. If he is going to teach several forms, and he shows two angles before going through the form while going over every point, this is good.

In closing, let me say that you might waste a buck or two, but that is only to be expected as you sample through various styles and interests. Still, the price of instructional DVDs today is one of the greatest deals in town. When you find what you want, the doors of perception are going to open, you will become more fit and better able to defend yourself, and the answer is yes, you will be able to learn quality martial arts.

The Kubotan: Big Self Defense...Small Size

By R. G. Hinson

Have you ever been in a situation where a small and easy to hide weapon of self-defense could have helped to avoid injury, or do you know someone who has? If that's true, you're not the only one. Pepper spray, of course, can help to discourage an attacker, but attackers have also come to expect pepper spray and can defend themselves against it, thus thwarting its effectiveness.

Here is something that has more of a punch and is legal in most states. It's called a Kubotan. This little weapon of defense is small discreet and it can come as a key-chain. So there isn't any digging into a purse to find it. Giving you the precious time to protect yourself.

The Kubotan was first used by the LAPD after the Grandmaster Takayuki Kubota introduced them to it in the 1970's. It proved to be very useful against uncooperative prisoners. Eventually it spread out to the civilians for self-defense. Why it is so effective is that it looks like an over-sized key chain ornament. When in fact, the end is used on the pressure points on where a finger normal would be used. It is also effective to be used on the bony parts of the body say, a forearm. However where ever you hit, ladies it is going to hurt.

Kubotans are considered to be nonlethal, but check state laws before you use this weapon. Using it may earn your charge of felony assault if you are not careful and use it in a state where it's not legal.

The another great thing about this weapon of self-defense is that you don't need a background in martial arts to use it. But having a background in self-defense is advisable. This self-defense key-chain is used as basically as a tool for inflicting pain. It can be used to dig into sensitive areas, striking or applying crushing pressure on bony areas. It will at least allow you to hold your own against an attacker. Even though this weapon takes little to no training; to be really effective with it, it is advisable to get training in basic self-defense.

The Kubotan is usually five to six inches long and is made of wood, plastic or metal. Shaped like a tube, it has a taped or flat end. It helps to "reinforce" your fist so that you won't break your hand if you have to defend yourself by punching.

Have a look at the following situation to see how useful it can be to you.

You are walking home late one night. Some one approaches you. As you go to pass he makes a grab for you. Using the Kubotan allows you to deliver a painful blow to his hand. Or even if the first attempt doesn't deter him and he kicks at you, his leg meets a side-fisted blow with the Kubotan instead. This could disable his leg.

It's very easy to learn how to use the Kubotan, and you can do so quickly. It's also inexpensive, costing just five to six dollars.

This small weapon of defense gives a small defender an advantage with someone bigger. Remember the old saying of, " the bigger they are, the harder they fall." It gives the element of surprise as well. The attacker will not see it coming.

Remember to check with your state on whether it is on the "prohibited" list. If it is, it is easily substituted with an every day item.

The next time you find yourself in a situation whereby you have to defend yourself against a physical attacker, perhaps the Kubotan can help you do just that.

Learn Real Shaolin Fast!

By Al Case

One of the things I noticed during my studies of Shaolin, is that everything is random. If you examine the forms you will see that the techniques flow one to another without any real logic. Simply, the whole system is a put together.

There is nothing wrong with being a big put together if the system works, and, believe me, Shaolin does work. I am concerned, however with another factor. I am concerned with the length of time it takes for Shaolin to become useful.

The reason a system is a put together is because every instructor adds to it. After a while, the the thing become top heavy, the art becomes huge and unwieldy, and the whole thing becomes too much to absorb. Then it takes too long to learn, and when you do learn it, it is not always practical for real combat.

So, how do we make Shaolin so that it retains its spirit, but is 10 times easier and faster to learn? The method I use is called Matrixing, and it is very simple. You just use have to logic.

The way to illustrate this concept of Matrixing is to take one item of the system and make it logical. In this article I'm going to use footwork. Inside one of the Shaolin forms I found a footwork which is quick, logical, only six steps, and yet covers virtually every potential of motion. This footwork illustrates forward, back, side to side, and diagonal.

In applying logic to Shaolin I took this footwork and began exploring the potentials of arm motion. Forward, back, up, down, left right, either arm. Then I put the footwork together with the arm potentials and, voila, fast and easy--and true to the source--Shaolin.

Now, it was not as easy to make this thing work as it is to read these words. Go through your own systems and look for the magic combination of footwork and logic that I have described. When you realize how difficult this task is, you will start to understand how valuable Matrixing is.

I gave the system the name Shaolin Butterfly. It is quick to learn, powerful, and easy to use. The motions are light and flitting and very good kung fu, and, of course--very large grin--one just has to know that the butterfly is the deadliest of all kung fu animals.

Improve Outdoor Security With Lighting

By Andy Rich

For many households, installing an outdoor security camera is more than necessary. That is why one of the most common forms of home security is a simple lighting system. It's one step up from no security, and an effective deterent to potential intruders. The different techniques are dusk-to-dawn lighting, motion activated, and combination high/low lighting.

Dusk to dawn lighting the simplest, oldest trick in the book. The idea is that a lit home will discourage a burglar because they can no longer operate under the cover of darkness. It is both real and a psychological tactic that makes the burglar feel less secure.

The system works by a using a photocell that reads lighting levels of an area. When the lighting drops below a determined level, it switches on the lights and stay on all night.

The problem with this technique is the relatively high costs compared to the other two lighting techniques. The electricity costs can add up when the lights are on all night long every single night and lamps burn out sooner meaning replacement costs will also add up. It's also less effective when it comes to alerting neighbors because the lights always look the same.

With motion activated lighting, if there is anyone in the area, someone is sure the notice. Imagine a would-be intruder stopping dead in his tracks as high beam lights flood the area. He could still be 30 feet from the point of entry when the lights go on. This is a very powerful deterrent and since the lights only go on when motion is detected, the cost of operating this type of lighting security is much more economical than the previous technique.

In the combination high/low lighting technique, the first two techniques discussed are combined. It is the setup of having a lower intensity light on all night, and a high beam motion activated light.

The cost is an approximation of the median between the first two techniques since the lights aren't on full blast all night long, nor are they only on when motion is detected. One of the upsides is a nice glow which is more comforting for many homeowners than the complete darkness of the motion activated system.

Security lighting can be an effective preventive measure against intrusions on your property and family. And in many cases, just being in the light makes people feel safer. It is cheaper than a full on outdoor security camera system and if all you need a little deterrent lighting security is perfect.

Review of Panasonic EP-3222 Massage Chair

By Steve Esquire

We will focus on the EP-3222 massage chair lounger by Panasonic. The EP3222 is part of the Real Pro Elite series of massage chairs. This massage lounger is one of the luxury models produced by Panasonic. It includes some advanced technology features such as a body scan to customize the massage for each individual user. We will take a look at some of these advanced features and functions. We will also touch on the warranty and provide you our insights into the EP-3222 massage chair recliner.

One of the long term concerns when purchasing a product such as a massage chair is the warranty coverage. The warranty is your long term protection from problems due to factory defects and workmanship. Although top brands such as Panasonic do a great job making these chairs, problems do occur. Make sure you get adequate warranty coverage on any massage chair you are thinking of getting.

The EP-3222 Real Pro Elite comes with warranty coverage from Panasonic. Panasonic gives you 3 years parts and 1 year labor on this chair. This coverage is below what other manufacturers give you. Most manufacturers provide in home technician service for at least 90 days and in some cases for up to 1 year. Panasonic does allow you to purchase an extended warranty at additional cost.

One of the advanced features of this massage recliner is the body scan technology. When you sit in the chair and start the program, the chair will perform a scan of your back. The chair actually maps your back and locates your individual acupressure points. It memorizes them and then prioritizes the most important. The data is then fed into the software program and the massage is customized for your body.

Another innovative feature of the EP3222 is the floating massage mechanism. The floating massage mechanism is patterned after the hand movements of a master masseuse. The floating mechanism consists of 2 to 4 firm rubber massage heads. These massage heads can very accurately simulate certain massage movements like pressing with the heal of the hand, stroking with the palm of the hand, thumb-like kneading and thumb-like pressure.

There is no shortage of massage techniques with this massage recliner. Panasonic equips this chair with 11 basic massage modes, 6 automatic programs and memory capability to store your favorite massages. Some of the more important massage techniques include Swedish, Kneading, Compression, Tapping, Shiatsu and Rolling. These massage techniques are effective to relieve aches, relax muscles, increase energy flow and increase blood flow.

Another area that Panasonic can target with the EP3222 is the entire lower body. They accomplish this with an air massage system. The air massage system uses a compressor which delivers to 33 strategically place air bags. These air bags provide and effective and relieving compression massage throughout the lower body.

The EP 3222 comes with a voice guidance system which can guide you through targeting specific relief. This is helpful for first time users or when you want to try something new. The remote also has a memory function. The memory function remembers the exact settings for the last five minutes of a massage you just received. If you like what just happened, you can store it in memory for the next time.

There is a lower body traction system built into the EP3222. This provides an excellent stretch of the lower body. The leg rest is designed to hold your feet, raise the leg rest and then lower it slowly. This will elongate your muscles and improve your range of motion.

The Panasonic Real Pro Elite series has some other massage functions that we did not review like the Swede-Atsu that provides realistic feeling massage therapy. This is also incorporated in the EP3222 model. The massage therapies are good and the variety will enable you to get practically every type of ache, pain or tension relieved on demand. Our only concern with Panasonic is the short warranty on the labor. Other than that the EP 3222 is a solid massage chair and worthy of your further consideration.

Heart Attack Differs from Angina - Find out How

By Shanae Ferne

Many people think that angina and heart attacks are the same thing, but they are not. It is true that the heart is involved in both cases, but they are still two distinct forms of heart disease. In this article, you will find out what makes angina and heart attack different, and what exactly is going on in the arteries of the heart.

First, it helps to have a basic understanding of the heart before you understand what the differences are between heart attack and angina. The heart is a hollow muscular pump. It is separated by a wall, called the septum, into the right and left halves of the heart. The right side of the heart contains blood that is low in oxygen, and the left side contains oxygenated blood.

Each half of the heart is also split in half somewhat horizontally. As a result, there are four hollow areas inside the heart. The two top parts are known as the atria. The two bottom parts of the heart are named the ventricles. After blood has circulated throughout your body, it comes back to your heart through the atrium on the right side. Because it has just come back from giving your body's cells oxygen, it has little oxygen left. After going through the right atrium, it goes to the right ventricle. From the right ventricle, the blood is transported to your lungs, where the blood picks up oxygen again. Now that the blood contains oxygen, it passes through the left atrium, and then the left ventricle. From there, the blood is transported to all parts of the body to provide them with oxygen and nutrients.

Your heart provides all parts of your body with oxygen via the bloodstream, but it also needs to "feed" itself oxygen. The way the heart gets its oxygen is through arteries, called the coronary arteries that are found on the heart. When you suffer with angina or experience a heart attack, it is occurring in the coronary arteries.

In most cases, atherosclerosis is the main cause of heart attack and angina. Atherosclerosis is the plaque that develops on the inside of your artery walls.

When someone has angina, this means that there is less oxygen that gets to the heart through the coronary arteries, but there is not a complete blockage of the coronary arteries. Angina can result in weakening of the heart over time, making it a less effective pump. Take note of angina, because even though it is not a heart attack, you could have a heart attack in the future. People who have also had heart attacks in the past can also suffer from angina.

In contrast, a heart attack results when there is total blockage of a coronary artery. As a result, no blood at all gets to that part of the heart muscle. This means the heart muscle can die.

In summary, angina and heart attack involve the same anatomical structures " the coronary arteries- but they are different in that heart attack results in complete blockage whereas angina does not.

The Secret of Butterfly Gung Fu!

By Al Case

I'm addicted to the martial arts. I've studied Southern Shaolin and Northern Shaolin and Wing Chun and Tai Chi and Pa Kua and...I can't stop. This is not bad, of course, for the health benefits and the clarity of mind are absolutely phenomenal. There is one problem, however, that I wish to address here, concerning the martial arts.

It can take three or four years to become proficient in a system of Kung Fu. It can take a dozen years to master a martial art. The problem is that this is just too long.

The way I solved this problem was to concentrate on isolating the main concept--and motion--behind a system of Gung Fu, and concentrate upon that concept. I didn't want to learn by trying to remember series of tricks, you see, I wanted to find the underlying secret. I wanted to find out what was behind any system I studied.

The problem was that every system I studied seemed to have a different concept. The Mantis hooked and pulled and Wing Chun slipped and struck. Tai Chi absorbed and guided and pa kua circled and deflected.

None of the systems I was studying seemed related! But, I knew, fighting is, at the heart of it all, fighting! There had to be a simple and obvious concept that tied them all together.

There had to be some simple thing that was common to each system of Kung Fu, no matter how different the fighting system seemed to be! There had to be an underlying concept that I was missing. And, eventually, I found it.

No matter what type of Kung Fu you are studying, the body is the common denominator. Kung fu, flower arranging, dance, taking a walk...they all need a body. And the body is constructed the same, for the most part, from person to person.

Thus, I dissected and analyzed all the systems of Gung fu I could, and I found that there is a concept of body motion, relating to and coming from the body, that is the same for virtually all types of Gung Fu. And all the styles of Gung Fu I was studying suddenly made sense, and I could see how they were connected. I had found the underlying secret to it all!

Eventually, I formed my own system of Kung Fu, and it is based on this common principle of body structure, and the only potentials of motion that a body is capable of. I call this system of Kung fu the Shaolin Butterfly, and the true glory of it is that is includes virtually all potentials of body motion from all other systems of Kung Fu. Oh, and one other thing about this system--it can be learned in a couple of months.

Analyzing Pepper Spray Laws

By Steve Thibeault

Pepper spray laws vary throughout the United States. Whereas most participating states allow the use, some states prohibit purchase, either through the mail or the Internet. These states include Massachusetts, Hawaii, New York, Indiana, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Rhode Island and Wisconsin. Strangely, the shipping of dog and bear pepper spray is legal throughout the country.

Pepper spray, more commonly known as Oleoresin Capsicum, is derived from chili peppers and inflames all the areas where it's sprayed. To be most effective, it needs to be aimed at the nose, eyes or mouth and differs from other types of spray that cause stinging and tearing through irritation.

Most countries classify pepper spray as a weapon because if overused, it could kill. If not used properly, it could also cause breathing problems, temporary blindness and severe pain. Although pepper spray is recognized as an effective self defense device, it is illegal in a number of countries, including Canada. In the U.S., states have various restrictions on the amount a canister can contain and the strength of the formula.

In New York, pepper spray laws permit the sale of the self defense spray by pharmacies and licensed firearms dealers in the state. In Massachusetts, licensed firearms dealers in the state are allowed to sell pepper spray for self defense. In Washington, D.C., it is legal to possess pepper spray as long as you register with your local law enforcement agency.

Some states have pepper spray laws that allow its usage with restrictions. Michigan permits only Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) pepper sprays as long as the canister contains less than 35 grams and has 2% or less of OC concentration. In Wisconsin, pepper spray for self defense purposes is legal, but cannot be stronger than 10%. California permits pepper sprays that are less than 2.5 ounces,

Pepper spray is a very effective and popular deterrent against an attack. The assailant should be stopped long enough to allow you to get away. As the product is so popular as a self-defense device it is available in many different containers, sizes, patterns and concentrations.

Don't forget, that whereas pepper spray laws dictate that they can be used legally for self-defense to prevent a personal injury, the circumstances must allow its use. If the spray is used irresponsibly, a charge of assault or battery can be brought. You must not use it if someone just looks threatening or is using obscene language towards you. Doing so risks civil or criminal liability charges.

Throughout the U.S., pepper spray laws make it illegal to sell it to a minor or to anyone convicted of a felony. It is also against the law to carry it onto commercial airplanes.
