Bill always worried about his daughter, Josie. She always had that independent streak growing up. The past Thanksgiving, she announced to the family that she would be moving to the big city to work on her acting career.
When Josie's sister wondered aloud if Josie would keep up her workout routine, Josie assured everyone that she'd still get her three mile walk in every day by strolling through the park. It didn't take long for sparks to fly across the dinner table.
Surely, Bill was surprised at Josies unexpected announcement, but he felt that he needed to support his daughter as well. And so, before his dear daughter's departure to the big city, he managed to get Josie a big Christmas present.
On the next family gathering, Bill made a touching speech to Josie. It was when he apologized for all his shortcomings.
"I know, Dad," said Josie, "the city's a lot different than this town, and you just want me to be safe."
Bill continued. Although he had been sceptical with Josie's abrupt decision, he told her that perhaps he could do something that would make the both of them feel better with her move.
His Christmas gift for Josie was a pair of Hot Walkers, which could be disguised as a regular pair of aerobic hand weights - the perfect accessory for Josie's workout program.
"But these weights keep you alive in another way," Bill explained. "Let's say you run into someone who wants to hurt you. Just press this button right here to blast them with pepper spray. They won't be able to do much of anything for a while, so you can run and get help."
Bill also shared his concerns with Josie. He said, "This lets you stay in control, and it'll keep me and your sister from worrying about you on those walks."
Josie sure was thankful to have a dad like Bill around. Soon enough, everyone in the family was in for a warm celebration.
