Dance Teaches Love of Music

By Sarah Wilkiamson

Understanding music is difficult for young dancers when they first start learning. Interpreting music into movement is something that comes naturally for some people, but for those who need a little more time to develop their skills, it will come.

Eurhythmics teaches rhythm in its most basic of forms. Dancers are taught to walk and hit sticks together in specific rhythms like the waltz, march, polka and more. Eurhythmics makes it easier for students to recognize different types of music.

Melody in music will set the mood of the piece. An important part of dance is mime, or actions telling a story or mood without words. The melody of the music will aid in telling the story. The students will learn to recognize and understand the music by the melody. This will help them to appreciate music as certain pieces become familiar to them.

Young students really need to get to know the many different types of music that are used. Classical music is mostly associated with ballet but other music can be used. Understanding music properly is easier said than done for many people, but with the help of a suitably qualified teacher, it will eventually come.

Interpreting music is a fun thing for a child and will let them increase their creativity. This will help them to like the music even more as they will associate it with the fun dances they did at school.

Much of the music used in dance is classical music. Many children do not get introduced to this unique form of music and dance is a nice way to learn about it. This is a fun way to learn about music through dance and can create a lasting love of music.

In order to take advantage of this part of dance, you will need to choose a good school for your child. The school should take into consideration the needs of students and not be in it just for the money. This means that the curriculum for different ages and levels of dancing will be well worked out and suitable for your child's age group.

Teachers should have a good rapport with their students and be creative. They should be experienced and be able to understand young students. In this way they will understand how small children can learn and bring out the best in your child. Your child will not get bored and really enjoy their dance lessons. When they love their dance lessons they will automatically enjoy the music that they dance to. This will bring out a life long love of music and the arts. Your child's dance lessons will become an enriching experience and make them a more interesting person to be with.
