What Are Your Personal Character Weaknesses

By Carla Rossouw

For best results, use positive thinking and other personal development techniques to change and improve your self and your life. Below, are a few tips that can help you change the framework of your thought process, and to begin your overall process of personal development.

You will miss an opportunity if you avoid making the right decision regarding personal development. Do not be afraid to make decisions, even if you are not as well-informed as you could be. When you make good decisions, it builds up your self esteem and your instincts. Bad decisions have value though because they are experiences that teach lessons. A bad choice will just open up the door for a better one.

Don't be disorganized anywhere in your life. Getting organized can give you a wonderful feeling of accomplishment, and staying organized will only increase your confidence. The stress caused by disorganization will also be relieved. Organizing your environment can be a calming and centralizing influence.

Take a trip with a buddy to the movie theater as a method of conquering anxiety. Doing this will allow you to get out, and be social. However, you don't have to be so social that you are uncomfortable. You can use the trip as an opportunity to become accustomed to the company of others.

Rid your life of unnecessary stress. If you overreact to a situation, you simply increase your stress, which is unnecessary and undesirable. Accept that you cannot be perfect at everything and look for alternative ways to achieve your goals if you fail, instead of focusing on your mistakes.

Try perusing some books on personal development. The best of these types of books can truly give you new advice and ideas that work for improving your specific life situations and challenges. Before you pick a book, read the reviews to make sure that it is worthwhile because some personal development books are better than others.

You must understand that a divide exists between where you currently are, and the place you would like to go. This attitude will help you get started on your journey to improve yourself. Without this epiphany, you won't be able to take the steps necessary to improve yourself.

One approach to personal development is to view yourself as one who has not yet learned all there is to know. When you realize your place in the universe, you realize that you have a lot to learn. Once you adopt this mindset, you will be more open-minded and receptive to new knowledge, which will lead to self-improvement.

Give yourself a boost of confidence by reciting all the things you like about yourself. List all of your good qualities on a postcard. Keep the card in your purse or wallet, and pull it out every time you feel depressed and defeated or have a negative thought about yourself. You could even record yourself reading it or make a video. This might sound silly but it really helps.

If you are feeling angry, allow yourself ten seconds before opening your mouth to say anything. Think peaceful thoughts and take a few deep breaths. If you stay calm and composed, you are more likely to make the best out of a bad situation.

Ego and self esteem can suffer as a result of failure when one is striving to make strides in the area of personal development. Failure though, is one of our greatest teachers. Failing usually teaches a lesson, but you have to pay attention. It can also tell you more about your weaknesses and strengths. When you look at it that way, failure should inspire pride in your ability to discover a new piece in your puzzle.

One very fertile area for personal development is making yourself healthier. In order to maintain a healthy body, you have to stay motivated to practice healthy eating habits and exercise. If your health is important, you can feel better and have better impact in your life.

Learn to recognize your limits and strengths. Each individual has his or her own unique qualities and skills. Our lives would not be nearly as wonderful if this were not true. You should not concern yourself with skills you don't have, instead focus your attention on what you already know and bring those to the table.

You should always use your love or passion as fuel for your personal faith in yourself. Faith seldom exists without the accompanying emotion of love. You should constantly look for ways to give meaning to your faith. Put your faith into action by encouraging charity toward those around you, and being an example of how to love both yourself and those in your immediate circles.

To change and grow, you must make the choice to change your ways. When we consciously choose to change, it is easier to do so.

This information is only valuable if you use it. To be successful, you have to work hard at it. Start implementing the tips you've just been given, and try to be aware of the way your personal development plan begins to improve.
