By Anita Ortega

When you are thinking about having your vehicle repainted, the first problem you have to deal with is the rust as this is inevitable over a period of use. Treat this with the right solution before hand as steel is very much prone to oxidation when being exposed in water. Do not leave it untreated or the frame could also be eaten.

After the rust removal you would find some empty holes on the surfaces. After sponge blasting, you would also have to filled those spaces with a high quality body filler and since this will also be used for a smoother surface in order to prepare the car for painting. Make sure you get only the good ones because they are easy to sand.

You also have to do the block sanding of the panels and this is a better way to do it because it is much easier. If you will not be using a block, there might be some fingermarks that will be left and thus making the surfaces uneven. Coarse sand paper will have to be applied first and the fine ones eventually.

Upon starting the actual job, you can start at the inside portion of the vehicle and have it kept in a place where it will not be subjected to the rain and direct sunlight. You can secure a spacious garage for this project. Hanging some curtain or cloth can help keep out dust and particles suspended in air.

The workspace is also an essential element to a perfect outcome and this would be maintained clean so you have to organize all the clutters. Make sure you have properly arranged the tools you will use according to the order of usage. Mop the floor and clear away the dust regularly.

Maintaining the area dry from all kinds of moist as should be pursued because water is the most common cause of corrosion. You must also ensure proper ventilation because this job would involve the emission of fumes from the chemical you will be working on. You can install a fan for the exhaust or a furnace filter if ever you are not in an open space.

A primer will also have to be applied but make sure that it would be of the best quality before as this will work in protecting the panels of the vehicle. This can enhance the way that the paint will stick into the body. In effect, you will have a more lasting finish.

Clear and base painting system is what is currently used by many auto shops and this would even work well even if this is relatively less expensive. This can also be easily applied with lesser hassle and would give you an outcome that has more luster and would be better at hiding the scratches. This will make your work even easier to accomplish.

Having the right painting gun is your key to a good finish and go for the tool which will make the spraying easier to control and would expel equal amounts of paint. This will help you achieve a more even finish as air pressure as well as flash times would be different from one device to another. You should also obtain a pressure regulator to enure a well regulated sprayer and oil separator to avoid contaminants.
