These choices would be to fix the relationship, just let go of it, or just create a new one with somebody else. Now the first thing that the coach would do would be to simply to talk to the client to know what is really happening.
Now aside from the client, one has to also make sure to talk to the other people who are affected in the situation. After he has talked to the client, the next person that he would have to talk to would be the other parties that are also affected. If one is dealing with a couple, he would have to make sure to talk to both the husband and wife.
Now when assessing the relationships of people, he has to make sure he knows what the main problem is or simply put, the root of all evil. After he has done this, then he will have to have an individual session with both of them so that he will know what they think individually. By speaking to them individually, he will be able to get them to talk more objectively.
When he is done with the evaluation, he will now bring them together in order to come up with some activities. One of the most common activities that they would use would be the open forum where both parties are allowed to voice their thoughts. The counsellor will give each of them a certain time to speak about each other.
Of course another exercise would be the positive reinforcement activity wherein one would list down the positive things about the other person and vice versa. Of course after that, they both have to discuss it. From there, they will now both write the negative things about each other.
Of course there will be times wherein the parties just cannot reconcile anymore but do not want to terminate each other. Now in this type of situation, the coach will just suggest that they give each other a lot of space. That way, they can still visit each other but not have to make each other angry all of the time.
