Role Of Theology Forums In Saving The Future

By Tracie Knight

The current social, political and economic trends are threatening the way Christianity has shaped the perception people towards life. Given the current trends it is important that people ask themselves hard questions such as; if the organization of the community promotes equality and if the current lifestyle is what God intends it to be like. Theology forums and religious groups are faced with the responsibility of maintain and restoring what has been lost. Even as we endeavor for progress it is important we might the organization that God wants in the society.

Every time the economically and politically powerful address the future. They give the society the mindset that those who contribute more to the production process are more important. They give a future vision where power will be in hands of the simple elite. They visualize a fast expanding production, greater competition and wider gaps between the poor and rich.

Theology has the power to counter these ideologies and fight for the many with small voices in the community. If the trend goes on minority will have no say in the community. There is also a possibility that they will not be involved in decision making processes. The result will be the human right will be no longer respected and human dignity eroded making the meaning of life be altered.

This vision needs to be countered to save the future. Christianity clearly states we should not allow such divisions in the community but seek to do away with them. It is important we work towards a balance even as we strive to achieve our goals, values and priorities.

There is need for change in the world. Its values and goals should move towards qualitative rather than quantitative interpersonal from personal. We should lay more emphasizes on real needs and aspirations of the people. We need the community to focus on maintaining a balance in their relationships with people, God and the environment.

Every nation is at a moment change. The human history and race is faced with the challenge of making choices about the future. Currently Ireland is focusing on a new journey where it is faced with choices that must be made. These moments are vital and we need to participate in them. The gospel encourages people to be involved in shaping a future.

Ireland is nation that gives us a good view of a threatened future. The nation has gone through social, political and economic progress but is still threatened by social inequality. The divisions in the society continue to increase and the gaps between the rich and the poor is growing wider.

It is evident that if a nation puts efforts to achieve its goals without considering the values that should be maintained it can lead to greater problems. From Ireland it is evident that economic growth can result to greater divisions if it is not handled properly. Lack of involvement of religious groups and all people in decision making can lead to vulnerability of the disadvantaged groups in the society. Religious groups and forums have a mandate to check on this.
