Steps On How To Make Homemade Essential Oils

Various kinds of floras could be providing important liquids. During ancient times, individuals are using the liquids for therapeutic, medicinal, or culinary purposes. They are usually employing various methods in extracting liquids from various floras.

The most common way used is distillation. Since individuals cannot afford expensive commercial oils, an individual could be employing the distillation method in obtain liquid at his own home. The succeeding steps will be helping him on how to make homemade essential oils.

To start, the individuals will need apparatuses that they will use for the distillation processes. The apparatuses consist of four components, namely the heat source or furnace, the holding tank or retort, the condenser, and the separator. These components serve specific functions. The persons can purchase these apparatuses from hardware stores although these items may typically cost a lot. However, if they will only produce little amounts of liquids, they may want to build their own improvised apparatuses, instead.

The raw ingredients where the liquids will be extracted from should be obtained. These may be flowers, herbs, plants, or other floras. These plants can be obtained from their gardens but should be handled properly. Plants can also be bought from markets but those which are still in whole forms should be purchased. Before these materials will be obtained, researches should be conducted first about the different types of plants and the amounts of liquids that could be provided by them.

The enthusiasts will have to dry their materials so that they can increase their yields. However, they should not place these materials under direct sunlight. Typically, the drying methods for different plants may vary. Ideally, the individuals should dry them under the shades of trees or inside dark rooms. The dried plants should not get wet again before they distill them.

While waiting for the drying method to finish, he must be filling the tank with enough clean water, ideally a distilled or filtered one. If he has a commercial still, he must be following the instructions of the manufacturer in using it. Afterwards, he should be completely submerging the material into the water. He does not need to be cutting the plant for him to be preserving more liquid.

After putting the plant inside, the person must be properly closing the lid of the tank and waiting for it to boil. The process could be taking about an hour or six hours, depending on the plant type he will be using and amount of water in his tank. Most plants are releasing essential liquids after boiling.

After completing the process, he must be filtering the liquid. He needs to be using a cheesecloth or any other type of fabric. He must see to it, though, that the fabric is clean and dry. In this manner, residues such as dirt could not be contaminating the oil.

The persons will need to store these liquids inside glass containers through funnels. They can also utilize stainless steel containers as alternatives. They should make sure that these containers are clean before they do so. They should store these items in cool and dark places so that they will last for two years.
