Audit Your Life

By Evan Sanders

There are some moments in life you will never forget. A few years ago one of my teachers gave a speech that will always stay with me.

The words he spoke were impactful and really changed how I looked at life.

He told us that we must all "accept our condition" if we are going to move forward with our lives.

What did he mean by this?

Accepting your condition is all about understanding exactly where you are at in life.

To take it a few steps further, it means that you truly have to look into all areas of your life and understand why they are how they are - relationships, money, job, body etc.

The other important part? See things as they are and not how you think they should be.

Why is it so important to do this?

It becomes the solid foundation that you can build your new life upon.

It allows you to take serious responsibility for how things are right now and gives you the ability to step into the goal setting process with vigor and motivation.

Accept where you are now, accept that your actions in the past have driven you to the place where you are at this moment, and you will be on your way along the developmental process and the goal setting path.

So how do you actually go through the process of auditing your life?

The best way I've been able to do this is to get a piece of paper and brainstorm everything surrounding your life at the moment. Where are you at? What has happened in your past that has really affected you?

When you go through this process it really gives you great visual experience of what's going on in your life and how you need to reorganize everything.

You truly give yourself the chance to see what is going on in your life right now and start creating a map around where you want to head.

The second piece of this is to envision what you want in the future and start working backwards from Z to A.

Step by step by step by step.

What's the last piece of all of this? Write down everything you need to know and everything you have to engage in to accomplish this end goal.

The what you need to know part of the list should be a hell of a lot longer and more dense than the "what you know" part of the list. Truth is, you only have started to scratch the surface in a world full of knowledge.

So take some time to understand the landscape and begin to invest in yourself so you can start to move forward in this life.

Know that if you accept responsibility for everything, your life really gets a fresh start.

This process is magic.
