Occupational Therapy Toys For Pre-schoolers By EQI 20 Certification

By Jerry Kennedy

When a child grows, they are expected to try doing certain things at a certain age. When a child doesn t make an attempt to grip things that are close to her/him at 3 months, or they don t find toys attractive at 2 years then this might be a sign that that child s development is delayed. It is important for parents to know how a child should act at all their stages of growth, that way they can monitor their children s rate of development. EQI 20 certification is a way you can help your child develop well, one of them is to give them occupational therapy toys for pre-schoolers.

If you suspect that your child s senses are not developing at a normal rate then you can buy those toys that promote the use of all senses. You can buy them a toy that plays fun children s music like an automated piano. When they sing along they will start to gain confidence to talk. Also, if they play drums or cymbals on their own, over time they will be able to live in a noisy environment.

Children are new to this world so they may find it hard to relate to the surrounding around them if they don t get any assistance. As a parent, you can help them by stimulating their imagination. This can be done by buying them pretend toys, dolls, children kitchenware and many more.

The child will try to imitate adults using those pretend toys, which will be a sign that they are using their imagination. Other toys that can stimulate a child s imagination if you don t want to buy a doll are trucks, pretend food or little houses for children.

Fine motor skills require your kid to use their hands, eyes, lips, and tongue. All these can be used to solve simple children problems. Toys that can improve a child s fine motor skills include puzzles, building blocks, play dough and pegboards. There is no way of solving a puzzle without thinking, so your child will be stimulated to think while playing and having fun.

Studies have shown that when children reach up regularly, their hand and wrists become developed, and hence they can hold things well and use their hands well. So make your kids want to reach for things, but what they find attractive on the wall like coloring papers and colorful magnets. You can even make bath time fun by buying your children foam bath toys and bathtub crayons. It will be like beating two birds with one stone since your child will enjoy bath time and will also improve their vertical surface interactions. This is also a very important skill, it prepares your child to be able to write, draw and color.

Another important skill that may need to be enhanced is gross motor skills. The skill involves using the body s large muscles to move. A relevant toy may be a bicycle or trampoline.

Now you have a bit of knowledge about occupational therapy toys for a pre-school toddler if your child shows signs of delay then intervene quickly.
