Make Money At Home Writing Articles

By Cody Scholberg

Do you dream of making money as a writer? If so, you?ve probably heard over and over that writing is too difficult a career to break into, or that writers very rarely make money. Don?t despair; while it can be difficult to make money writing books or short stories, there is plenty of money available if you are willing to write freelance articles.

Writing is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It takes time and effort to market yourself, and many of the first jobs you get may not pay much. However, if you continue to put yourself out there as a writer, you will soon be making more than enough money to survive.

Once your online portfolio is set up, you have several options as to how to proceed. You can sign up with a site like Squidoo or Hub Pages. These sites allow you to post articles on topics of your choice. You can add affiliate links to sites such as Amazon.com or eBay in order to make extra money via commissions. These services are free. It is possible to make money solely from using them, but it can take a long time to get established. If you want to earn a living from freelance writing, you will have to supplement your use of these sites with actual freelance jobs.

Once you have posted your portfolio, check out sites such as Squidoo or Hub Pages. These sites allow you to post articles on various topics. You won?t get paid directly for your articles, but you can post relevant affiliate links, such as books on Amazon.com or products on eBay, and make money through commissions. These services are free, although it may take awhile for you to establish yourself and begin making money.

Another option is to participate in writing-related forums over the Internet. Forums are filled with writers looking to improve their skills, as well as people looking for freelance writers to help them with projects. You can contact people seeking writers directly through these forums and advertise your own writing skills by participating in forum discussions. Make sure to include a link to your online portfolio on the bottom of every post so that prospective clients can look at it!

If you use the Internet and can write well, there is no reason you cannot make enough money as a writer to support yourself.
