The Tick And Tock Of A Timeclock

By Roxie Bryant

It cannot be helped that employees become lazy some days of the week. Being burnt out is just some of the reasons for being lazy. But these lazy days, if they frequent, can delay the operations of the company which could result to loss of profit and effectivity. Therefore, it is only crucial to monitor the working hours of every employee to ensure productivity and strict abidance of rules. One of the devices that can ensure this is a timeclock.

A major benefit from this device is that provides an accurate record of the working hours, down to the last second. These devices are basic time pieces that are used to record the time-in and time-out of employees. They are made to be accurate and unbiased. They are also known under different aliases such as clock card machines and time card keepers.

Since its invention in 1888 in New York by a famed jeweller, it has been highly in demand by companies due to its unbiased methods and its accuracy with recording the working hours of a company. New additions to the device have been made to make it more reliable.

The reliability of this device is due to the many cheating methods that employees have devised in order to steer clear of strict working office hours. One of these methods is called the buddy punching wherein a co employee inserts the card of another employee into the time clock.

Because of that, biometrics are more unbiased and virtually uncheatable. It monitors the attendance of employees by identifying their biological attributes. Most biometrics make use of fingerprints as a main form of identification. Thus, it cannot be cheated. Some biometrics also make use retina scanning methods which essentially scans the eyes of employees as a method of identification and recording.

The biometrics is the latest and most reliable form of time clocks since they are far more accurate and they do not allow cheating. They cannot be cheated because it scans certain biological features of the person to identify them and record them as either checked-in or checked-out.

Still, the importance of these devices cannot be denied. They serve the purpose of accuracy and unbiasness with regards to monitoring the working hours of an employee. They are also cool gadgets that add to the overall appeal and merit of the company.

Without a doubt, a timeclock is one of the devices that prove to be reliable and accurate. Companies strive to make more advanced innovations of the device to make it completely unbiased and impregnable to cheating.
