Top 5 Men's Fashion Misconceptions

By Ilechukwu Magnus

Over the years, countless fashion rules have come and gone. While many men do their best to make sure they adhere to these guidelines, they sometimes forget that some of these rules have changed and have been updated for this modern world.

You can decide what patterns to choose and what colour your chinos should be once you get over the misconceptions part.

Chinos- Most Common Misconceptions of Men's Fashion

Here are five misconceptions about men's fashion and the truth behind each of them.

White After Labour Day- Many men stuff their white chinos, jackets, and shoes at the back of the closet when September ends. Reason? They consider it a rule for fashion. In their minds they have decided that wearing white after Labour Day isn't right as a fashion assumption. This fashion rule no longer exists in reality.

In today's world, we have come to realize that climate should not control the colour we wear. White shouldn't be discarded after summer. A refined outfit looks great with white dress shirt, white chinos and ivory jacket.

Match Your Shoes and Belts- Colour coordination is difficult for many men. They are so fearful of this process, they strictly adhere to the old rule of dress shoes having to be the same colour as the belt. The result is extremely limiting. Instead of the same hue, consider using colours that have similar tones. Remember that colours do not have to match completely, they just need to work well together.

Out of Style- Just because something is out of date it is considered old. This is a mistake if you are going for a classic style. These pieces of clothing are classic for a reason. You can even use tie bars and cufflinks.

Cheap Chinos- Mixing Patterns - A fear of combining patterns is almost as common as a fear of mixing colours. Many men still follow the rule that patterns should not be mixed together, but, in truth, mixing the right patterns can give you an up-to-date and sophisticated look. You need to ensure that the colours in both patterns are the same and one pattern is more subtle when doing this.

Steel Band Watches Work Well With Everything - Many men own at least one nice watch, and it is usually one with a silver steel band. It is a common mistake to think this kind of watch works with just anything. Well the actual fact is that this kind of watch will work only with chinos and a casual button-down shirt but not if you are wearing a tuxedo. Formal and semi formal clothing should be paired with leather band watches.

Before you throw your white chinos, plaid shirts, and chequered ties in the back of your closet, make sure you understand which fashion rules are set in stone and which ones have been modernized for today's society. Buy Chinos
