Is NLP truly a personal development instrument?

NLP was developed in the 1970. This was the time when many personal development tools were created. NLP stands for neuro-linguistic programming. The aim of NLP is to align the perceptions with wished-for outcomes. This may be attained by using behavioural changes.

Many supporters came forward with different hypotheses and methodologies to put this particular tool into service of individuals to switch their self-perceptions and to give their personal development a lift.

Just like any other idea, NLP too had many opponents who argued against it and asked does NLP work. They claimed that NLP was employed to oversimplify complex processes of the human mind. In spite of the opposition NLP has survived and evolved. Many motivational speakers have introduced NLP to the masses that were eagerly looking for techniques to develop themselves and to reach certain goals in their lives.

People who visit inspirational seminars are looking for workable solutions that will help them in their life. The sale of materials at these conventions and sold out seats are an evidence that NLP is believed to be workable solution.

Like plenty of other personal development tools, NLP was also utilised by influential folks in this field to find new ways for the betterment of the masses.

Using NLP principles doesn't always work for everyone and is considered to be a subjective field of application. So there for the opponents of NLP put it in the same box as the New Age craze but others have used it in their publications and methods as a handy system for self-guidance and private development. The users of NLP use it for many different reasons. Some use it for fear of failing, absence of self-esteem or the phobia of speaking in groups of people.

You'll find the rules of NLP methods in several books about self help and personal development. This alone shows that NLP is a recognised and evolving discipline in the sphere of private development.
