How to Get Daily Motivation

By Lilia Dearth

As an employee and a business owner, father, speaker, consultant and trainer I've witnessed a number of frustration among significant amounts of people because of the lack of understanding in the concept of motivation in addition to their relationship to and their responsibility for other people in their life.

Motivation as well as the amount of it, at any given time in a persons life, is definitely an personal thing. People is going to influence other people for good or for evil nevertheless the ultimate responsibility for any person's behavior is, may be and always will be, themselves. One of the primary frustrations in a very person's life could be the unrealized expectation of another persons behavior. Quite simply, why won't the children, spouse, parents, employees, customers, friends etc. act, think or notice the way I believe they should? How come these same people act, think and feel the way they certainly? Don't have a clue folks.

Our role as managers, parents, spouses, friends etc is not to motivate others. You see we're not able to really. Real motivation is definitely an inside-out process. When we believe that we are able to motivate others, we're assuming motivation is definitely an outside-in process. Our role would be to create a breeding ground where people would want to, and are able to motivate themselves.

Should you look back on the two traditional motivators of fear and reward you will find that they 're both according to an outside-in philosophy. They may be only as successful since the person being "motivated" will to let them influence them. By way of example if you use fear while on an employee, suppose the threat of the loss of their job to get them to improve their performance. If they have the attitude, I would not need your task, I am a talented and hard working individual, I quit. Your threat was useless.

Fear and rewards as motivators are merely effective in the event the person you are trying to motivate is worried or enthusiastic about your threat of punishment maybe reward. These motivators are very a motivational environment. Neither of such environments bring about peak performance behavior in a individual. In the long term they are more negative than positive. Yes, even reward motivation can have its negative consequences.

Folks have not basically changed previously several hundred years. Most people want a similar things in everyday life. Recognition and/or praise, challenge, a feeling they are setting up a contribution, security, to exercise the freedom of choice, the call to be in on things, to feel worthwhile and productive and also the ability to have influence or control over their life and destiny.

Should you prefer a motivated family, organization, team, department or group of any kind satisfy as numerous of the above needs for your individual or group that you can. If you want a de-motivated team, group, organization etc provide none of these.
