Tips In Cleaning Wool Oriental Rugs

By Cara Torres

Cleaning some wool oriental rugs would be a lot simpler than cleaning other types of rugs. Still, this would not mean that you would have to pay less attention to its details. A very good rug is made out of wool and may be knotted further to ensure durability and long life. Thus, if you own a quality handmade rug, it will be a simple task to clean it.

Most of these rugs are tightly wounded. Therefore, any dirt and dust would be found waiting on its surface until you begin to vacuum it. As much as possible, do it once every two weeks so that you can keep it clean. You can also take it outside the house where you can unroll and beat it with a broom to loosen up some materials that are in it. To ensure its cleanliness, do it several times.

Wool is a very resilient material and can always stay clean for long. By doing preventive measures and by properly caring for it, it could always stay as beautiful as it can be and may as well last longer. The day to day wear and tear is probably the primary reason for making it ugly, dingy and old.

It would be placed regularly on the floor. Therefore, it can fade and worn out easily. Do not apply steam on it as well. It is made up from durable materials and all the wool is properly piled to be sure that it could last the daily activities. Hot water or steam might only loosen up the fibers and might be a possible reason for its damages.

It would be best to have a mild laundry soap mixed with a pail of cold water to achieve best results. Avoid using some harsh cleaners and other chemicals like bleach. You must prepare any spot removal kit that includes a piece of dry white cloth, grease or oil remover, a solution of detergent powder that is placed on a spray bottle, an ammonia solution and also a polish remover. Always place it inside a box for safety purposes.

If you happen to encounter some animal accidents in it, quickly flush it out with the use of cold water to disperse the material and dab it with a dry rag. You must do it sooner to achieve better results. Use a mild solution of ammonia in the affected area as well and dry it quickly with the use of a hair dryer or a fan.

An added challenge upon buying these rugs will be the removal of some stains. You should always use a tiny brush or a sponge and smear it starting in the outer part towards the center to avoid spreading it. Once you successfully removed all the stain, you can remove its moisture by the use of paper towels and let it dry.

Once you have sponged down the whole rug, you can rinse it with any garden hose. You can remove the excess water from it using some old towels. Once all the water has been removed and taken out, allow it to dry naturally outdoors. Do not place it in direct sunlight as well since it can fade its colors.

Before you try to remove and wash away the stains in the wool oriental rugs, make sure that the colors will not fade away easily. It could be a wonderful addition to any home. You should know how to take care of such so that it can stay beautiful all throughout.
