Ensure You Find Only The Best Tier Sheets There Is In The Market

By Leticia Morton

Tier sheets are also known as divider or slip sheets and are used as a layer between goods being shipped. They replaced the wooden pellets which were used a lot in the prior years . When the sheet is supported by pallet boards, surfaces for carrying flat loads, roller conveyor surfaces or lift trucks, the strength of the structure of the slip sheet will be supported by the weight of the product load. If the sheet is supported by any of the transportation devices the load can then be easily transported both within a facility and also between two or more external facilities.

There are some benefits that result from using the slip sheet. For one, using them instead of the wooden pallets makes it possible for more products to be put into the material handling containers. This is because they do not use as much space as the traditional ones did. They also do not require any maintenance as they are easily replaced. Another thing is that they are way lighter than wooden pallets and thus reduce the shipping costs.

Several types of slip sheets exist today. They are categorized according to the number of lip extension they have and the material they are made of. Conventionally the sheet is dimensioned and shaped according to the size of the unit load or the product being transported. To choose the best and most appropriate sheet to use, you should consider the functionality of sheet and how you want to use it.

The first type of the slip sheet is known as the single lip slip sheet. This one has a single lip which is placed facing the unit load shaped like a regular rectangle and the delivery truck door. Apart from minimizing the clearance of the travel path it seeks to maximize the space utilization of the delivery car and of the processes of loading and unloading.

The other type is known as the multiple lip slip sheet. This has multiple lips facing more than one side and is mostly used on containers placed on either rail cars or ocean delivery vehicles. They make it possible for a loading device to pack the unit load a different side than the one for unloading the same unit load from.

There are handling options when it comes to the transportation of unit loads. The first one is leaving the lips extended so that there would be travel path clearance. The second option is to tap the lip against the unit load in case there are more activities in push pull required. The other option is to cut the lip after there are no more activities.

There are certain factors of consideration when determining the design of the slip sheet. First are the weight, size and dimensions of the load to be transported. Also the storage method of the goods is important, whether it is with or without the pellet board. Another factor is the storage and transportation conditions like moisture, humidity and temperature.

It is important that you have the necessary knowledge of the sheets if you deal with them. Do not be lazy when it comes to finding the best and necessary design for the sheet. Tier sheets are good for all your transportation needs.
