The Process Of Knife Sharpening Cleveland Ohio

By Jaclyn Hurley

Over time, knives would tend to get dull because it is being used all of the time and for many different purposes. It is for this purpose that knives have to be sharpened from time to time so that it will still be able to retain its sharpness. Now for those who do not know how to do this process, here are some knife sharpening cleveland ohio tips.

Now in order to sharpen the blade, one will be using a stone or a rock that has a flat shape which is around the size of a regular hand. Now take note that this is the thing that one will use to make the knives sharp. Now before doing anything with the rock, he has to put it in water and clean it up a little bit.

Now the very first thing that one should know is that he will not be using the smooth side of this rock to sharpen the knife. He will be using the rough edge of the rock in order to make sure that the blade becomes sharp. Now in order to get the rough edge, he has to first break the stone into two.

To do this, one must first get his hands on a big nail and of course a hammer. Now he will be using the hammer and the nail to break the initial exterior of the rock so that he may be able to get into the interior. Now all he has to do here is to stick the nail in the middle of the stone and hammer it all the way in.

Once there is already a nail inside, then one should now get a drill and use the hole as a reference point. Now the drill will be able to get the job done as it is strong enough to break the stone into two. So make sure to put the drill directly into the hole and start drilling into the rock.

Now there will be some rocks that are very hard to break because even their interior parts are also strong. Now in this kind of situation, one must use drastic measures. Now in order to completely split the rock, one may use a saw.

Once the rock has already been split, then one may now start sharpening his blade. Now to do this, he has to put the blade on the stone and start moving it up and down. Now he has to be very careful while doing this because if he is not, there is a possibility that he will get wounded by the sharp edge of his knife.

Another thing to always keep in mind is to never really push the knife too hard onto the rock because doing this might actually damage the metal. Now if the blade becomes damaged, then it will obviously not be as useful as it was before. So in order to prevent this, one has to make sure to push the knife lightly.
