Why Educational Research Conferences Are Important To All Educators

By Anita Ortega

It has been said many times and by experts from numerous different fields that the success of a country or society is largely dependent upon the quality of education that it offers. Where the quality of education is questionable, or standards are poor, students simply do not succeed in the professional working world. The result is often poverty and suffering. Educational research conferences are held regularly in order to address the issue of the quality and availability of training and development for all.

One of the biggest challenges faced by experts in education is to address the enormous gap between the quality of education in poor and wealthy communities. Technological advanced allow wealthy communities to empower their learners and to stay in step with the advanced made everywhere else. Poor communities, however, struggle to stay afloat and they cannot hope to ever catch up. They simply do not have the budget, the expertise or the means to provide their learners with a meaningful education.

It is not only technological and logistical issues that make it very difficult for poor communities to offer education of a high standard. Many learners hail from dysfunctional families. Many others go hungry and disease plays a very large role in keeping learners away from schools. Before anything else can be done therefore, the many social issues need to be addressed and they need to be part of a larger strategy that will hopefully address the problem.

It is not only the gap between rich and poor education systems that need to be studied. It is also necessary to stay abreast of the ability of the system to provide those skills demanded by industry and society. The furious pace of change demand new sill sets regularly and these needs must be studied and shared continuously.

Studies focusing on education systems also place a high priority on delivery media. Technological advances have opened many doors for educators. The internet, for example, allows teachers to communicate with their students in new ways and it is even possible to teach remotely without sacrificing continuous interaction between students and the teacher. Studies therefore focus on how to make education more effective and economical.

Regular conventions for educators are important. Much research in the field of education and fields relevant to it is done globally and it is important that results can be announced, shared and discussed. In this way educators can implement improvements and new methodologies quickly and efficiently. By learning from each other educators can avoid costly mistakes and pitfalls already discovered by others.

These conventions are also very important platforms from where social, political and even demographic issues that have an influence on education can be addressed. It provides educators with an opportunity to interact with other disciplines and to look for solutions in a holistic manner. It is not only educators that have an influence on the quality of education.

Giving a person a good education must be one of the biggest gifts of all. A good education can catapult a conscientious student into an orbit where success and achievement is almost guaranteed. It is the responsibility of teachers and educators to provide their students with these advantages. Sadly, they are often expected to achieve these aims under very difficult circumstances.
