Important Facts About Grease Removal

By Sherry Gross

Grease stains can be one of the messiest and worrying things on our garments. Their removal from fabric is a rather daunting task, especially when it comes to clothing. However, when faced with this menace, be sure to refer to the following simple procedure in an effort to enhance grease removal and salvage your favorite tablecloth or outfit.

They are, however, relatively easy to deal with than any other kind of stain. This is especially the case due to fact that the substance is easily broken down by the washing up liquid. The technique is the most preferred as it does not use the rather powerful detergents that otherwise cause profound damage to your fabric, such as bleach.

The most affordable method is to use the regular dish detergent with white vinegar. For the detergent, the one that is colorless is the most preferred as it avoids the cleaner from staining the garment once more. Nevertheless, in case the colorless one is not readily accessible, you can employ a dilute solution of what you have at hand. The vinegar is especially for dislodging more stubborn stains and serves to eliminate detergent after the process of cleaning. You will also need rubber gloves to vigorously rub the garment, though none of the products in use are particularly harmful.

This method of removing stain is simple and easy to perform. Simply lay out the item concerned and cover the specific area with dishwashing detergent. Employ your finger to gently apply the detergent into the very fabric. In doing so, the stain starts dissolving almost immediately due the ability of the detergent to directly absorb the grease.

On dissolving, the detergent is then done away with using the neat vinegar and the entire garment is carefully rinsed. In case the oil is still intact, perform the steps repeatedly to achieve the desired results. The toughest stain usually takes between two to five repetitions before coming out.

As a word of caution, be sure to check the washing instructions and regulations for every item of clothing so as to ensure that such items are not very fragile to withstand the rubbing required to complete the process. In addition, remember to run some tests on the dishwashing detergent by applying on a hidden part of your fabric, such as a cuff or hem. This ensures that the detergent will not stain or otherwise discolor your clothes.

You can remove virtually every oil spot on your garment. However, some applications may occur on rather sensitive fabric (silk and wool) that are well taken care off by trained and professional cleaner.Such people have the experience, equipment and solutions relevant in this regard.

Also, it is quite easy and simple to eliminate fresh stains compared to the one that has set in. It is therefore necessary to act fast before the oil sinks further into the fabric. When it comes to stains, remember that a fast and quickly attended to pigment will come out easily whereas time loss will mean difficulty.
