What Do You Know About Fire Department Promotional Exams

By Rosella Campbell

Those individuals who are already working within the fire department but at a bit lower rank, can still be considered to be a successful candidate for the other promotional roles. Becoming a fire fighter is not an easy task at all because there are certain strict guidelines as well as training processes that you have to undergo. You must follow the guidelines in order to be able to give fire department promotional exams.

Just as entering into fire department is not easy, so isn't getting promoted in this particular department. You really have to follow the whole process in order to get promoted and to be able to give the exams. Not many candidates are able to make it till the last stage as the whole process is extremely challenging.

The process begins with updating your resume because if your resume is not up to date you may think its not accurate for the role that you want to apply for. It is usually the case that when you are doing a job already, you don't find the need to update the resume as you hardly need it unless and until you want to apply for some other jobs. The more up to date your resume is, the more beneficial it gets for you.

After updating your resume, then you can apply for the job role that you really want to. This gives you the chance to give written exams for it. As the seats are limited, so only those individuals are provided the opportunity who have excellent aptitudes. The short listed candidates are then further evaluated as they are invited to come to the assessment centre.

Written exams are important and those candidates who successfully clear the written exams are then assessed even further. The other assessment phases may differ depending on the type of job you have applied for. It may be either oral interview or a demonstration. Such activities are conducted to evaluate your communication abilities.

Those who perform well in the assessment centre are further scrutinized in order to gather information about their overall performance. During the scrutiny process your skills are analysed even further to get an idea whether you are capable to handle the pressure of the job you want to undertake or not.

Further interviews are taken and individuals are again short listed on the basis of their performance while giving interview. They should be the right candidate and it can be observed while they act. It is a true fact that every individual is different from other and not everyone can do this job in an accurate way.

Similarly, oral presentations reveal how confident the individual is and whether he has the ability to speak in front of others or not. An individual who lacks the skills and feel very conscious and uncomfortable to speak out aloud may not be the right person for this job. Communication skills are really important in this regards.
