By Marie McDonald

We all need a professional to ensure that the operations and procedure being performed for us in a hospital is accurate and correct. The danger of not checking the appropriateness of these procedures would severely affects our health. Today, we must know about the function of as hospital CDI specialist.

We have tried being in a hospital and as we wait for our turn for evaluation and assessment, we may have observed medical staffs passing by and running around the area. The amount of task they do in a day is equal to the amount of patients they entertain in the hospital. They always do their best to accommodate these patients with equal respect and integrity.

Performing their daily tasks is not an average thing to do. Despite their tiredness and stress, they have to stay alert to ensure quality performance. Compared to other employees, hospital and clinical employees are following strict regulations to assure they were doing their jobs well and maintaining its efficacy and quality.

Doctors, nurses and laboratory operators are assessed mentally, physically and emotionally if they are fit for their assigned position because if not, there is always a pool of applicants ready to take their position. The seemingly high standards are justifiable because the lives of patients are in their hands. Meaning to say, whatever their decisions are, right or wrong will always affect the health of these patients.

Meaning to say, these staffs are not doing an easy job. Doctors and nurses are trained to be always keen and mindful with their performance especially those who are assigned in shifting schedules. Even though they feel sleepy, they should not compromise the safety of their patients. Aside from these people, we are also enjoying the service of the CDI specialists.

In every illness, there will always be an equivalent diagnosis but sometimes, symptoms are overlapping and would cause confusion. This occurs when the patient denies a particular symptom that is why doctors tend to misdiagnose them. It requires a higher level of expertise from these doctors to ensure that their patients are giving them the correct information.

Meaning to say, whatever the prescription you received from a doctor, they are recording it to assure that it is the right prescription for your diagnosis. It does not only involve one person but they are a team of experts who do similar job descriptions. The CDI department is using the latest technologies to ensure the accuracy and completeness of clinical documentations before discharging the patient.

It is their duty to check everything before they discharge their patients. They must know if the patient has already completely recovered from a disease to avoid further complications. Documentation departments are responsible for answering any complaints. However, most institutions can defend themselves because they can prove that they were correct with all their evidences.

That is also one purpose of their recordings because in case of complaints, they can easily provide proofs that would prove that they definitely were correct with their clinical decisions. We must thank these experts for doing their tasks well. If not because of them, then our lives would be in danger.
