Diagnosis Of Indigestion Problems.

By William Lagadyn

The symptom "indigestion" is not usually accurate enough for a full diagnosis, which is also referred as Improper Digestion or Poor Digestion. Experts use the phrase indigestion to mean various abdominal symptoms such as gas, wind, diarrhea, heartburn, reflux, nausea, abdominal pain, abdominal discomfort, abdominal swelling, or other digestive symptoms. The causes of these symptoms may be excess of food taken or irregular consumption of food. No food can also be a result of these symptoms.

Dyspepsia is referred to indigestion in Greek and indigestion in Italian language meaning hard or difficult digestion. Certain other causes of indigestion may be severe pain in upper abdomen or burning sensation either in stomach or heart, followed by vomiting, nausea, reflux and belching. Indigestion may frequently occur due to gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Indigestion is a very common problem and usually it is due to gastric diseases. However the upper given symptoms are not limited to indigestion but may be even worse in extreme conditions like ulcer or rarely in cancer. A vomit sensation or vomiting containing blood may be because of gastrointestinal bleeding. However it is advised to have a proper diagnosis been carried on when such symptoms occur rather ignoring it.

Usually more than 60% of the estimated population carrying these symptoms are treated without any diagnosis and are usually cured by traditional methods. In some cases if the symptoms indicated complexities it is advised to take proper diagnosis which can be a gastrointestinal endoscopy which is helpful to rule out diseases like medication related ulceration, ulcer or other rare cases. Proper diagnosis is always helpful to cure diseases at early stage rather then building it to become more complex.

These symptoms are cured by traditional therapies used for diagnosis include lifestyle modification (which includes proper diet, consumption of food at regular intervals, avoid tea, coffee or other products which can increase the problem), antacids, H2-receptor antagonists (H2-RAs), prokinetic agents, and antiflatulents. The biggest demerit noted in traditional agents are the most frustrating aspects of functional dyspepsia, these traditional agents have been shown to have little or no efficacy.

Indigestion or poor digestion is the most common disease and the symptoms can be easily cured most of time. Still there are certain groups who suffer from these symptoms throughout the life time. This may be because they are either suffering from Flu which usually has low level of or with some bigger disease like diabetes which carry for the whole life time.

However indigestion can be prevented with proper intake of food and regular workouts. Improper intake may result in poor or improper functioning of the digestive system which may affect the performance in the long run.
