Getting Gratitude Abundance

By Deanna Collins

When life gets rough, it's hard to concentrate on the good things in life. But, that is when the power of gratitude is most important. Learning to focus on what you have instead of what you don't have will change your life. Learn how to keep that gracious attitude even when it's not easy.

Why Gratitude is Important

Gratitude changes your perspective on the life that you've been given. When you have gratitude in your life you:

Look at faults as potential blessings. It's easy to lay blame at someone else's feet and leave it there. It is a lot harder to look past someone's mistakes and see their potential. That goes for your mistakes too.

View others with an open heart rather than a closed heart. This means that you feel compassion for others regardless of whether you have anything in common with them or not. A life filled with compassion is a happy and abundant life.

Forget about judging others. We all have faults and make mistakes from time to time. Acknowledging that fact helps other people to put their faults in perspective and play to their strengths.

Feel merciful towards others who are not in their best place or have not reached a place where they can look at the world from a place of gratitude.

Look at what you do have and be grateful. Concentrating on the positives in your life attract more positive energies. How is that? Whatever you cultivate in your life will begin to grow. If you want a good life, change your focus.

How Do You Attain Gratitude Abundance?

Use a journal to record the things in your life that you are grateful for. Identifying your blessings makes you aware of them. We don't give enough thought to such things and usually take them for granted. Think about the breaths you take each day and the food you get to eat when you are hungry. What about the people who make your life great and the pleasant surroundings you life in? Once you learn to recognize them, you'll be amazed at how they begin to outnumber your challenges.

Practice. No one becomes grateful overnight. It takes time and consistency to develop an attitude of gratitude. Instead of falling asleep worrying about your challenges, concentrate on the people and situations in your life that you are grateful for so you can get a good night's rest and wake refreshed and without a care in the world.

Incorporate it into your daily life. There are many rituals you can incorporate into your life and your daily routine to bring gratitude abundance into your life. Gratitude jewelry, journals, rituals like taking a bath every night or having a massage weekly, meditation and good food and friends also help us recognize and celebrate the positive.

Help others. There's little which is more profound and positive than to offer help to others. Something as simple as paying a toll for the person behind you, holding a door, and larger things like volunteering at the homeless shelter all help you to feel not only good about yourself but good about the world.

Strip away the things that you don't need in your life. Gratitude feels good and is incompatible with things that make you feel bad. Eliminate the negative and fill up on people and situations that enhance your life.

Will you accept abundance in your life? Begin by being grateful for what you have and letting it change your life.
