Quitting Smoking: How Can It Be The Hardest Change For Your Loved Ones

By Peter Kelley

Even though the public is aware of all of the things that smoking cigarettes can do to their bodies, there are millions of people that still choose to engage in this act. Smoking can cause cancer, lung disease, heart failure and other adverse medical conditions. However, when asked to quit smoking, most smokers tend to laugh and say that quitting smoking would kill them faster than smoking.

Many smokers are unaware of what substances are actually put into those small little cigarettes. Nicotine is one of the main ingredients found inside of one of the circular tubes. Studies have shown that nicotine is as addictive as heroin and cocaine. A person with a smoking problem is not only addicted to the substance in a physical sense, but they are also addicted to it in a mental and emotional sense as well.

Perhaps one of the biggest drawbacks that stop people from quitting smoking are the withdrawal symptoms that follow the act of quitting. Increased mood swings, irritability, nausea, fatigue, and weight gain are just some of the symptoms that smokers will be forced to deal with if they decide to quit. Therefore, in order to ensure that they do not have to deal with these problems they continue to carry on with their habit.

There are a lot of immediate changes that take place within your body when you quit smoking that many people do not even realize. For example, twenty minutes after smoking your last cigarette your typically escalated blood pressure and heart functions will return to normal. Also, the amount of carbon monoxide that you have been pumping into your body will leave it within 24 hours time.

Smokers that have managed to stay off of cigarettes for one year will diminish their chances of coming down with deadly diseases. Also, if you happen to get sick medical personnel will be able to diagnose your case quickly.

Quitting smoking can be a difficult task to have to overcome. However, as long as you are committed to achieving your goal, you will be able to overcome all of the dilemmas that may come your way.
