If you brain is constantly solicited and put to work, you are more likely to have an active an efficient memory well into your older years. When a person has a great memory, friends and family often compare his memory to the one of an elephant and quite a few are envious. Memory power is a key element during someone's education, career and even in everyday living making it a significant force that impacts one’s overall success.

How to Increase Memory Power ?

Below are some techniques that you can apply to help you achieve this goal :

Use it or lose it: The more memory challenges you give your brain through exercises that involve memorizing lists, names, numbers or any reading material, the better would be the capacity of the brain to memorize.

Physical exercise for mental alertness: When you exercise your brain, it brings oxygen to your memory cells and keeps them healthy. Memory exercises should always go in pair with a proper diet including Omega 3 fatty acids. These fatty acids help your brain stay healthy.

Catch up on your z’s: Being sleep deprived makes your brain sluggish and tired leading to memory lapses. Catch up on the required hours of sleep everyday rather than fulfilling your sleep needs to weekends or holidays.

Concentrate and focus on the task at hand: When faced with too many things to do, cut your tasks into small chunks that will be more manageable. it will be much easier for you to concentrate on a smaller task and get it done without getting exasperated with all that needs to be done. Focus on the job you are doing and leave the rest to later. If you find that tough, start practicing some concentration exercises.

Have fun, relax: Just like the body needs relaxation, brain too needs to unwind. Explore what gives your brain the rest it needs. It could be some soothing music, watching nature, laughing with friends, painting etc. Most of the memory improvement games also make great fun activities.
