By avoiding snacks such as cookies, candies, chips, and other salty or sweet things a person can reduce the amount of extra calories and other substances that can work against weight loss. Cutting out or reducing the amount of snacks eaten one can improve weight loss results.

If you go out with your friends to bars or clubs, limit the amount of alcohol that you consume. Alcohol can increase the amount of fat in your body and also can worsen your mood the next day. This will lead to cravings that you must avoid to lose weight.

Use smaller dishes to serve meals to help you eat less. Try using a salad plate to serve main meals instead of a large dinner plate. This is a great way to control portion sizes and prevent overeating, so you will lose weight quicker. Some studies have shown that people feel more satisfied when they eat the same amount of food served on a small plate as opposed to a large plate.

Change things up with your salads a bit. If you find that you are getting tired of the same old salad on a plate, try to fill a whole pita with the salad that you love. Add a splash of lemon for a great new flavor. Salad is a great way to get the vegetables that you need, and this is a great way to make it more enjoyable.

Beans, beans, they're good for your heart... and losing weight! They're high in fiber and protein, and they're so versatile. Blend up some garbonzo beans to make hummus, or cook beans and put them in chili or a bean salad. You can use them to make burgers too! My favorite thing to do is sprout lentils and then add them to sandwiches and salads.

Using a scale to keep track of your weight loss might not be the best way to track your progress. Instead, use a measuring tape and take your measurements weekly. It is possible to lose inches and slim down without your weight changing at all because muscle weighs more than fat.

When you are setting your weight loss goal, the most important factor is to set a bar that you can reach. If you set a goal too high, you will become extremely frustrated and tempted to quit. Maintain manageable goals to help increase your persistence and motivation when losing weight.
