How To Catch The Spirit Of The Entrepreneur

By Christy Lyons

Grabbing opportunities with open arms is often easier to talk about than to actually do. Most people, although never actually doing everything about it, find themselves dreaming about being rich. A combination of procrastination and 'what if' syndrome can cripple your creative spirit and might mean your idea will never become a reality.

An example would thinking you could learn Spanish for months and imagining the holidays you will take and the people you will communicate with. Unless you actually make the effort of taking lessons, then you can dream forever but not accomplish anything. This is just like the martial arts approach where the idea is to take action immediately and avoid over analyzing the situation.

Perhaps you are afraid of the kind of things that can go wrong even though you want to start your own business. You may be thinking of the possibility that your initial investment doesn't pay off. There are millions of things that could go wrong but likewise there are many things that can go right! Fear can be paralyzing. This happens when your thinking about starting a business especially if you keep waiting for the right time. There will never be a perfect time. If you want to start your own business, it's now or never.

A step by step process is overcoming your fear.

It's important for you to have a clear idea of what kind of business you want to start. A clear plan will help keep your worries at bay. Don't forget to check if you have access to the resources you will need. Aside from the necessary start up cash, this will include anything else you will need as well. Make sure that you also have access to clients as well as know enough about marketing basics in order to ensure you will have enough interest in what you are offering.

Taking action, just like anything, is the most important part. An itemized list of what you feel needs to be done is what you need to do in order for you to start that business that you always wanted.

It would also be helpful if you prioritize your list. Before you begin, don't wait for all your ducks to be in a proverbial row but make sure that you have all the basics covered. Don't wait for that 'perfect someday'. Instead, you need to make an imperfect start.

You also shouldn't over think everything. Sometimes the best approach is to just jump into the deep end.

Don't wait to start discovering your own entrepreneurial spirit. You should take action today.
