7 Essential Steps to Declutter, Organize and Simplify Your Home Fast

Stuff piling up too much? You may have reached the point where you need to declutter, organize and simplify your home. You may have arrived at the place where you can't find anything easily, especially important papers. You may forget to pay bills and this can bring about a great deal of unnecessary problems. If you take some time to declutter your surroundings, you can effectively organize and simplify your life. Yet, it may be impossible to begin, as you don't know where to start organizing. Here are steps you can take.

First Steps to Declutter, Organize and Simplify Your Home

Begin your declutter plan - You are going to need some tools and supplies for the task at hand. Make a list of all the things that you are going to need. For example, you will require things such as trash bags and vacuum bags. You may need a new broom. If you do not have one, this is an excellent time to invest in a quality paper shredder.

Before you start organizing, invest in a few more storage bins or containers. This will make organizing an easier process. You may be on a tight budget, but you can still get free cardboard boxes. Visit your local department or grocery store and inquire about boxes. Use some of these boxes for discarded items and some for things to keep.

A lot of people may want to use a weekend to organize and declutter the home. However, this is not necessary. You can get a great deal done with a 30 minute investment in the evenings. Thirty minutes a day will organize and simplify many things in the home. This leaves your weekends free.

Many people avoid organizing their homes because they feel completely overwhelmed. You can eliminate this feeling by diving in and concentrating on one area. Pick a spot such as a desk, table, or counter, and clear it off. This is your uncluttered zone and your job is to keep it clean and tidy. After you accomplish this, it is time to expand your zone to include other areas of the house.

It may be too hard to tackle the entire house in a day. Take your time and work from one small space to another. Remember to keep areas you have cleaned clear of clutter. Concentrate on organizing one specific room. This gives you a feeling of a job well done. This can give you confidence to tackle another room. One of the best rooms to start with is a bedroom or den.

With some things, it is clear that they either stay or go. However, other things may be more difficult to decide. Instead of languishing on these decisions, place all the uncertain items in one or several boxes. You can deal with these things later. Meanwhile, you are free to organize and simplify the rest of the house.

You may be completely overwhelmed when you think about organizing your home. If you pick a spot and get to work, it provides an important starting point. Make sure that you have plenty of cleaning supplies and tools for the job. Clean one small area, and then expand to include another, and so on. Keep plenty of boxes or storage tubs to help organize and simplify the declutter operation.

Is it worth the effort? Studies indicate that we Americans lose about 2 weeks a year looking for misplaced or lost items such as phones, missing keys, wallets, etc, while a desk littered with random papers, notes junk mail, etc. is an enemy of the first order.

On the other hand, the same experts promise that your home will be much more like the ordered picture you may have of it in your mind when you learn just a few skills to declutter, organize and so simplify your life.
