A few months back, my garage door was spray-painted on while I was out. The month before that, it was my neighbor's. I was aware that he set up security cameras on his property immediately after what went down to it to catch the culprits.
Sadly, I am still covering a business loan which I got recently and I can't find the money for any added expenditures until after a few more months. So, I set up a fake security camera as an alternative.
Our state could be the tiniest in the Northeast however vandalism is usual enough. Anyone would feel these types of punks don't have any paper to write on and are completely happy to renovate public and also private property in the ways of the caveman with their paintings.
I would love to capture these bad guys but deterring all of them ought to be enough for now. I read online that even a fake surveillance camera could discourage criminals from following through on their own plans. Well then, I set up a battery-operated outdoor dummy security camera with flashing LED outside my garage.
There are a few types of these dummy security cams which appear much like the genuine thing. One is a dome camera type, the kind that you see within some convenience stores. The other is a bigger type which has metal housing and reveals some authentic video cable for effect.
I acquired the second one also since it can operate for 6 months on one "C" battery. I figured that the less time I put in changing batteries, the better.
So far, so good. My neighbors followed suit and got some up on their own properties. Even I don't know which surveillance cameras of theirs are real and which ones are not. It's a great thing, too, given that vandalism is not the only thing to think about.
Theft is also a problem and, from the time I installed my fake security camera, I have been able to leave for work with relative peace of mind. That is right up until I pay off my financial loan and set up a real security system for my house.
